Have you ever experienced talking with somebody, when suddenly in a middle of a sentence, you forgot what you are to say. Well, that happens to me a lot of times. I would suddenly stop talking because i forgot what i am to say. Or sometimes, there will be a word that i am to mention yet i cannot remember it, though it's on the tip of my mouth already. So i would skip it, but it will later on suddenly pop up! Gosh, i think it's a sign of my getting older after all.

From the looks of your picture, you are not old yet. Or is that you in the picture. I think, it's just but natural that we tend to forget what we were saying, if we are interrupted. Our thought tends to veer into what was being butted in , so we forget what we were previously speaking of.

don't worry, you're not alone. it always happen to me. sometimes i would remember what i have to say after an hour or two and the person that i'm talking with is already gone and i would completely forgot to tell that person what i'm supposed to tell him/her. is it normal for people getting old? and is this really a sign of getting old?

Hi SIMPLYD, The same thing I am to experiencing off and on. It is something like I wanted to tell you something very serious and started too but in between something came out and I got rambled. When think what was the topic I had started I feel a total blank. Is it a sign of getting aged? I am only 42 now. Or it is a problem that requires a psychiatrist?

Yeah, its for people's convenience. Some say life begins at 30, some say at 40 and some others say 50. Now which to take up as authentic?

No need for a psychiatrist. It's one of those natural things when we are aging. 42 is still a younger age. Life begins at 40 so they say .

I belong to the diminishing returns, so I have to mentally take note of everything around me. That helps a lot. And my daughter, just two decades old, seek me out, asking what it is that is at the tip of her tongue. And yours truly provides in earnest, ha ha!

So you see, it also happens to younger ones! So maybe it's now safe to say that it's not an indication of getting old?

Hi SIMPLYD Forgetting what I was about to speak MANY many times... I forget because I am scared of my wife whom I love so much... and It is good that I forget because if I did not, it would lead to many unwanted discussions and spread unhappiness... I am thankful to getting old if this is what old has to give to me... ps. I also forget what I have to buy from the vegetable market many a times... she wants potatoes and I get her onions

Anything that keeps the surroundings at peace and harmony, I think I am willing to accept it as a boon. @suny: I cannot think of staying away from the BR anytime

Oh is that so, buying onions instead of potatoes. For sure your wife has given you her tongue lashing ! I admire you for taking it as a blessing to forget what you have to say. I salute you for loving your wife so much. As for my husband, he seldom speaks much, unless i initiated the talking. But i haven't noticed him to be forgetting what he has to say yet. I guess, it's because he's a silent man.

Yes this happens to me occasionally if I'm tired or stressed I sometimes lose my train of thought and forget what I was going to say or forget what I was talking about lol.

When we are so stressed our mind occupies a lot of things. Sometimes, we just speak or blurt out whatever comes into our mind, so much so, that it would result to forgetting some appropriate words. That's just but natural. As long as it does not happen very often, it's just okay. But if it happens a lot, well i guess you really have a problem in focusing.

One thing i am proud to tell though, i haven't ever experienced that, whenever i am speaking with my boss. Maybe it's because i am always on guard of what i will say to my boss, for fear that she will take it against me.

Yes that has happened to me before. I hate when that happens because it makes me feel like I am getting old or something. Most of the time a word or phrase jogs my memory and I remember what it was I was saying or had to say.

I think that happens to everyone from time to time,so it also happened to me on different occasions;we are not robots,we can't be programmed to remember everything yet;who knows, maybe in the future we will, but I don't think that remembering everything would be a blessing,on the contrary,we would also remember things we want to forget. So I think it's normal to forget what we want to say as long as it doesn't happen very often.

You are right suny. Sometimes our forgetting at that very moment what we have to say tends to be a blessing. When we remember what were just saying, we would sometimes think if it is still necessary to have it heard. Yes, Polaris this incidents happens to everyone, young and old alike.

this happens to me too most of the time. When my mind is bursting with information that my mouth cannot keep up with that is the time I forgot. I also forget what i am about to say when the person I am talking to interrupts me or there is an outside interruption.Sometimes I can remember what i am to say and sometimes I totally forget it :)

Yes that's true. When you are interrupted while speaking, you will tend to forget what you were saying. Somebody has to tell you, what was it that you were last speaking of .

Yep, happens to me all the time. Another favorite thing of mine to do is to walk into a room and totally forget what you were going to so. Especially if it was something you NEEDED to do! I hate that feeling.

Hi Simplyd! That happened to me too. Rather happens to me too ;) I feel like the right words are at the tip of my tongue or half of my brain is thinking of what to say and the other half is screaming what it actually is that I want to say ^_^

I guess, this happens to a lot of people indeed. Out of our enthusiasm in identifying what it is at the soonest, it appears that we just cannot think of what is it indeed because of our haste.

hello simplyd, This is normal. And so annoying to us,because the more we tried to recall, the more we forgot and gosh... have you ever tried walking back from where you've been assuming and hoping you might recall what you really want to say?

Hi friend, this happens to me these days more, the word i want to covey is at the tip of my tongue, but i can't recollect when needed, but later it comes, there was a time when i was able to reproduce 15-16 fool's cap size notes on black board , this was full of complex mathematical calculations, i could do it error free. I also at times keep searching for my spects lol This is sure sign of aging.. Thanks for sharing Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

But i don't like to accept it as a sign of aging though. It happens to young an d old alike. Oh those specs, being lost but is just with you ? That is a sure sign of aging though. Joke, joke, joke.

Yeah, and sometimes the word is just on the tip of your tongue but you can't remember it and the conversation is ruined....I'll just say, "I'll get back to you later" but as I go I'm in deep thought trying to remember what's the word, lol!

And then just when you stop thinking of what was it, it will suddenly opo into your mind! Your mind knows it, but you tongue cannot say it.
