Hi all, just a general question. Do you proofread your discussion before posting it? I'm not sure if its just me that notice discussions that is hard to understand because of lack spell check or just proofreading. Maybe its just people from different countries trying to develop their reading, writing and language on mylot and hats off to them, a great way to start. For myself, I do proofread my discussions before i post it, but I do make mistakes in typing so fast, or proofreading so fast this can be easy to overlook. What about you, do you have experiences where its hard to understand someone's post, or do you have experiences where you forgot to proofread and notice all of your mistakes? It happens to the best of us!

Hi keshia,Ideally we all should be doing that. I am guilty of overlooking this many a times. I get very limited time and want to post in as many discussions as possible, so end up posting without checking. I do check spelling since spell check is on all the time and I cannot miss it.Since I post without checking, I accept others discussions too ....I am more careful with articles and do proof reading as well as spell check...all the best

thanks for sharing kiran! Yes this is all understandable, in typing so fast or even proofreading you can still overlook things. I know when I proofread discussions of mines, I've made so many mistakes because I have plenty thoughts going in and out of my head. So I may have written something by mistake instead of what i really wanted to write. Luckily I do catch other mistakes. And I too have spell check on my browser.

Sometimes, I do. But most of the times I don't. But there was a time when I didn't check what I typed, and it was completely the opposite of what I think. But I tried to change it by posting again, then the mylotter who posted the question said that I should be consistent.:| Oh well...

lol, I completely understand. In typing so fast you put "I do" instead of "I don't" in doing so it does make your response the complete opposite of how you really feel and the nerve of the mylotter, but oh well.

You are Right... a lot of people don't do that. I can say, I do proofread 50% and other 50% are not... cuz of lazy :) hahaha.
well, proofread your discussion is also good and prevent any mistake. Good luck

Yes friend proofread is necessary before posting but maximum times I forget it. But this is true after reading our discussion before posting we can change some words we can see lot of spelling mistakes but my speed is so much so this is a problem with me many times I posted the discussion and then feel ohhhhh no I not read it.

Yes, I do always proofread my discussion before I post it. I wanted to be a writer someday and I wanted to practice my writing skills here in myLot. I am so conscious when it comes to my grammar and sentences construction.

I do a quick read through of my responses. Of course, typos are always possible and you don't always catch them. But, when that happens, it won't be because I just tossed off a response and didn't check it first. And blatant misspellings rarely happen with me, because my browser underlines any misspelled words. So, my mistakes, which do happen, aren't for lack of care.

I do not do a real thorough job of proofreading, and sometimes, even if I did, I have made mistakes that are not going to get caught by spell check. Today I answered something and used the word weight when I meant wait. Caught it afterwards and put another comment under my response. I felt silly.. I do come upon discussions that I cannot read and understand, because people are working on learning English. I usually do okay, though. If I am clueless however, I will just pass on by. It seems they almost always have some people who understand them better than I do.

I need to proof read my discussions before I post them! If I didn't I would have alot of spelling errors and some words would be missing! So I usaully don't post until I proof read it! It also helps me check for words I might of forgot to capitalize, too!

I try to write in correct spelling and grammar but sometimes I do make mistakes since English is not my native language. I am only human, I am not perfect!
I am sometimes confused with the tenses of words, prepositions and homonyms.
I try to proofread before I post, but sometimes I just really read fast and if it is already okay I submit it. And when it is already posted, you can see the error. I really hate myself when I do that!
Oh well as long I have expressed myself to Mylotters, I am happy.
I think Mylot is a good place to practice our English grammar don't you think?

Even i also proofreading the written text because some times i may not be able to follow the sentences. Some times i may type anything which ever i is necessary but i may do mistakes in typing. If i check with the spellings then it will be easier for me to improve myself. I think as of now i have improved myself alot in my typing as well as in sentence.

I proofread sometimes but I can just make mistakes. Maybe its just that English is not my first language. Im learning. But yes, sometimes I find other post very difficult to understand but I try to mix and much to something out of it or I just rather skip. I agree their are different people here in mylot. Its just amazing how we all meet here.
