I want to buy a new TV, LCD or LED?

They say LED is the new thing. But I say what's the difference? I mean LEDs are more expensive than LCDs nowadays. But if the benefit outsmarts the price then why not get the LED. Im just confused about the two. They look similar, I dont really have a clue. Please share your views. Thanks

I have an HDtv, but I'm not sure what the differences is between LCD LED but I know that HDTVs are pretty good if you can afford the additional high def hook up because without a high definition connection these fancy TV's show an average picture, so basically if you buy one of these kind's of sets the picture quality will be poor without the HD cable connection just keep that in mind, also HD cable can be really expensive.
