Having a work is a really nice thing to have. It will make you financially stable, will make you happy and fulfilled, you will have something in your life worth doing. All of these are correct. But what if the work that you have been doing for a long period of time makes you feel not happy anymore? or let's say that all of the benefits that I have stated are all the other way around? will you still continue to be with that job you have? I would rather not. The salary that they are giving always has a discrepancy. The number of hours have been reduced because of the low volume of calls therefore they need to cut expenses so they let a lot of TEAMS! (NOT JUST A FEW EMPLOYEES) To log out and get unpaid for that. Aside from that, the concerns of the customers that we are speaking to are always out of this world wherein we are also doing the things not based on our scope of support. Thus, it gives a lot of head ache dealing with pissed off customers. Yes you are happy with your colleagues because all the people there are fun to be with who are most likely to be having the same types of personality. but then, it is just only one factor to consider, the rest are all negative. I have taken a lot of considerations for this one and I have given them a month and a half if the number of hours are still being cut short. And it still does. So wallah!! last March 31st, I have rendered my last day of work and submitted my resignation letter effective immediately. Do you think it's worth it to stay there in that company? please site some similar experiences and the dilemma you have been through. Thank you guys!

Hello there! Thank you for the nice hopes for me. Yes I am keeping my fingers crossed that the company that I will be working on later on will be fulfilling whatever it is in the contract. For now I will be earning at home at the moment since it is not yet starting. I will be a customer service representative taking inbound calls and doing sales as well. The process will still be similar to the previous company I have worked with but the product will be very different. I was from a large telecom company in the United States and now I will be with a not-so-known company. But the pay is just the same, without a boss and in the comfort of your own home. Thank you so much for this nice response. Have a great weekend ahead of you.

Thank you so much. Yes the jobs are already lined up. One is being a Data Analyst (the most high paying job) the other two are home-based jobs which are all good as well. I would just have to choose. For now I am taking a time off and just relaxing at home and making the most out of it.

If you're not happy, I'd say move. I'm working on getting a new job...Hopefully soon! The jbo I work for also has kind of unstable hours and I just don't like the office politics, and upper management. But I do agree with keeping the job until you get the new job, just to be safe financially. I wouldn't quit unless I had a back up plan. I mean if you can't find a better job or a job that has similar hours/etc, I don't think it's worth it to leave the current company. But I do believe that we should be (at least) content with what we do every day.

Thank you so much! I have thought of that already before I left. I still have a lot of savings to keep me good until I start my new job which is already lined up and all I have to do is choose. I have one regular hours of work as a Data Analyst and another 2 will be home based inbound call center jobs. At the moment I am enjoying being vacant with work. I am definitely making the most out of it. I will just choose what is the best job for me really soon. I also hate office politics so I might just choose the home based job after all. Thank you so much for the nice response. I hope that you can find a better job that you will enjoy in the long run.

When the company does not look convincing, then it is time to leave. And if the company are not stable anymore, then it is time to leave. But leave when there is jobs await. and if there is non, better wait to be retrench. At least you get some retrencment money.

Yes that is correct. I know it's hard to look for a job here right now but I am thankful that in my part I was not able to feel that hardship at all. maybe the problem is that if I start again there will be some difficulties financially until I receive my first salary from the next company that I will go to. But everything's under control now. I don't worry about it now.

I'm still unhappy with my work but I still have no guts to resign since my educational attainment is not enough and i dont want to go to school again, For a person of my educational attainment, a call center job is a rare opportunity, It feeds me for 7 years already. I got promoted to a good position but I aint happy. I'm just waiting for the right moment for me to resign. I have some side jobs now but they aint enough.

Sometimes we really have to take risks. Please do not resign yet if you are not gonna have any back up work. We really just have to try harder. If you have been promoted then it means that your company is offering growth to their employees and rewarding each one of you for the good works that you have done and what you deserve. Just stay put and not all the time it is going to be what you expect. I resigned because I could not take it anymore. Thank you for the nice response and have a great weekend ahead of you.

if they really deserve to be fired then you should really do that. people from all call centers know that it is a come and go job... thank you for the follow up comment...

Lets say my dream is to be a singer with a record deal , an opportunity onc ecame but i let it slip away because they want to change me. Looking back I have no regrets. I'm doing voice overs for radio commercials as a sideline and its fun but I cant see it as a fulltime job so I didnt quit my call center Job, My new job is stressful because every two weeks I have to fire people and it makes me feel like an awful person. I have no enemies at work before, now people are cold to me.

In the company that i'm in. there is no health insurance, no benefits, no salary increase (once), no extra pay if one has to work overtime, no positive reinforcement if one did something beyond his/her capacity.. i always wanted to stop working but can't find a better job offer for the meantime. my life is like a living hell. good thing is that i do have a few friends to whom i can share my sentiments.
• Philippines
7 Apr 11
That is a great thing that you do have some friends that you can share your sentiments regarding work. It will ease up a bit with what you are feeling if there are some people who you can talk to regarding these things. I am now having my training with a home-based call center which is better than the previous company I have working with in terms of salary and the stress level is also low because you are just going to take orders online. But here, there is also no life and health insurance compared to the previous company. but then, you can calculate the earnings that you should suppose to receive unlike the previous company that I have which is really having a lot of discrepancy. During paydays back then, I am always feeling weary because I would always expect that there were a lot of times that I am being unpaid. And I couldn't take it anymore, the reason I resigned. thank you for sharing.

Hi anna: I think that's a horrible situation. In my case, I feel well paid by my boss but my obligations are becoming too hard and I am feeling that I can't deal with all the job. It's a big charge and that's sad because I don't want that everything go wrong. Before the political changes of my company I feel really happy, now I have to work twice for the same amount of money. It's stressing. ALVARO

I seem to understand that you are in the call center industry. If that's the case then I can totally relate to what you're saying. It's an interesting job, at first; but as time goes by it becomes boring and more of a routine. I've been there and I never regret I resigned after 2 years and 6 months. In fairness to my previous employer, the salary was more than okay. And it was always on-time. So there's no problem in that area, but in your case I think your company is on the verge of a major account problem, so I have to say it's good for you to leave now before it's too late. And I know you can find more interesting and less-stressful job out there. I know because I did, after I left the industry. So good luck to you my dear.

It is good for you to be able to change a career. Yes it is hard to do that because if I am gonna choose the field from my degree, I am not able to get the same pay as what I get used with the BPO industry. Less the stress, less the money you get. I am still coping up with the work I have now which is a home-based call center. Thank you for the great response and have a blessed Holy Week.

I have been thinking about this too, planning on resigning with my work now, but there is still too much at stake that i still cannot resign. I have good pay, though a bit small but better plus it is tough to find work right now.. but then again i am still thinknig and planning about it.

You have to consider a lot of things before you resign. One of them is the back up work that should be inline after you resigned. Sometimes it is not all about the pay but the nice and cozy work environment and the work that you should be doing is really what you love. thank you for the nice response.

I know how it feels like when you are released from the place where you work and finally quitting your job because of some reasons but no matter what the reasons are, the good thing about it is that you're not working in that certain company anymore.

Thank you so much for you empathy. Yeah it really feels bad leaving your friends behind that company but somehow it is some kind of relief. I am already not having all the stress from that company I have worked with. I am feeling better now. Thank you again for the nice response.

Yeay for you! I've ranted here at myLot some months ago that I absolutely hated my job and on the lookout for another one. Well, it's been several months now, but I'm still stuck here. Like you, the only positive thing here is that I love my colleagues. All the rest - the job itself, the pay and boss, I hate. I've also been thinking, and finally, I resolved that come June, whatever happens - whether I find a new job or not, I'm leaving. And that's final. One just has to reach his/her limits and poof you can't take it anymore. So, are you with another employer?

Thank you so much for the nice response! Yes you are absolutely right because the colleagues that we have who became our friends are the only reason that is keeping us happy in the workplace that we are in now aside from the insufficient pay that we are getting from that company. Yes you should consider a lot of options first before you quit because it is not going to be good if you quit without having a back up. As for me, before I quit my job, I have asked my fellow co-workers before who also quit in that company where they are working now (who also suffered the same predicament that I had) then they also have recommended me to work there. I only have now a few days to make my relaxation to the fullest and I am making the most out of it. I have 3 companies waiting for my signing of the contract. I will just choose one among them. I hope you will make the right decision. We really cannot go far and stay long to the company we are working with if we are not happy.

Well, in my opinion, if you are not happy anymore of doing your job, then it's time for you to quit. But make sure though, that before quitting, you have a sure job to transfer to. Nowadays, a lot of people are unemployed. When you are unemployed you cannot buy the things you want to buy. You cannot share in the household expenses, much more buy your personal things. If you are already on a responsible age, it would be unfair if you will again depend on your parents for support. They too want to be relieved of that situation because they are not getting any younger and should be prepared in the eventuality of retiring sooner or later Given that scenario would you want to be a help or not to your parents?

I am a very responsible person and I know the repercussions of my decisions if I quit my job without having the next job inline. I have a lot of savings for me to get on until I receive my first salary from the next job I would be having. Thank you for the concern and nice response. I also have given my parents much already and they will not be needing any of my help for a long period of time. Have a great weekend ahead of you.

Hi I dont have such type of experience but I think the first reply to this discussion is impressive, self satisfaction is necessary at job and at every aspect of life, if you not satisfied with one thing then leaving that part is good thing. I still think that you should be in your own profession rather than in call centre, you are a chemical engineer and you should go to your own field. Any way you know better about your self, have a nice day...:) Keep smiling...:)

Thank you very much for the response and agreeing. Yes I know that it is somehow not a good reputation if you keep jumping to one company to the other with a less amount of time spending with each company but then, I still could be able to say or tell the next company I am applying to the clear reasons why I left them. I know qualifications is not enough but the tenure itself. I will still be able to justify all that with my answers in the interviews so don't worry. Nice to hear from you again. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

In my case I am not afraid of any responsibility. I love doing all my responsibility if I am just being paid the amount that I deserve or whatever it is in the contract. But then that company is already cutting our times off because of the low volume of calls. I could see that you are new here to MyLot. I hope you enjoy posting discussions and responses. Have a great weekend ahead of you.

Good for you. You can still apply for another job. There is no need to stay in a work/job when you are not happy with it. It's hard to work when you are not happy anymore,it will surely affect your mood and of course, your job...so better quit and find a new one.

Like you, I've also tendered my resignation from my current work. I quit last March 25th, and I've given them 3 weeks notice. So next week will be my last. But unlike you, I didn't have any problems with the benefits that I was getting here. In fact, the benefits here are way better than where I am going. But, I there are some challenges that I want to take on so I decided on the move. I hope you too find a better company that will rightly give you what you earn, and what you deserve!

Thank you so much for the nice response. Sometimes it is not really the benefits that you are aiming for but the growth and the challenge. If you are already tired of what you do everyday and you feel like there is no progress at all or you feel that you will be stuck there for so long then it is time for you to decide. Thank you for the nice wishes. I am crossing my fingers that I will have the right decision from the 3 companies that is waiting for my contract signing. I am just taking my time having my vacation and trying to relax at this time. Have a great weekend ahead of you.

Hi aaron fyzeon: I understand your point. Actually I have a very good job but I am full of work and I don't feel well now. I am hoping to find a solution for this but I am preparing myself to quit. I think this is not easy because job is a blessing. There are a lot of people wanting to find a job and they give us stability but if is not what we want we sometimes need to say no and find other opportunities. ALVARO

Oh, Thank you very much for this great response. I noticed that before you made your response here, you have read all the post and my replies as well. I would really commend you for that. Well you should think about a lot of considerations before you quit. sometimes you boss would want you to work that long doing all those work you do before promoting you. Or maybe it is just a preparation for you to be able to be an effective boss someday because you have gone through all that. We all have different scenarios here and reasons why we want to quit. In my case, I have been to that company before and resigned twice already. Still the same, I thought the management already changed but it haven't. I have also been promoted the first time I have been there but then again when I left and went back there again, I was assigned to the lowest position again and grabbed it. The boss that I had who promoted me already resigned so the boss that i had recently is not as good as my former boss so she doesn't really know what my full capabilities are and the people that she will promote first are the agents that she had first and not me. as for you, you have a full life ahead of you. Not just in terms of work but in all aspects in life. Good luck and it's nice seeing you again.
