Where Is the Best Place IN REAL LIFE to Spend Your Money?

I think it's local businesses (restaurants, mostly ... and churches---and don't go tellin` me churches AREN'T businesses! Not only do they keep bean-counter precise records, but they're ALSO the truest form of business out there: one does not go into business to serve oneself, but to serve all possible people; seeking higher profit so that more-and-more people become possible!) That's a whole `nother discussion we'll have later; but local businesses are the best investment-without-expecting-monetary-returns because ... lotsa reasons---in summary, the Law of Attraction, or The Secret, or the principle of The City on the Hill-top, or something like that. Where do YOU think we should spend all our extra money, and why?

My thinking is that more and more people are made to work really hard to earn these days, so why not once in a while splurge a bit and enjoy some of the money out having a good time. So you are right locally for several reasons: Local businesses continue to survive which continue to allow the neighbors to be upped in value. Also the local businesses continuing to survive join the community business associations which in turn continue to contribute to their taxes in which some of that goes to our local park districts, for the children to continue to enjoy. At least this is how it is done in my areas. Further enjoying the local businesses saves on having to commute further which int turns saves us from spending so much gasoline for the car going to and from. Being that I live in a big city withe many options I especially like the restaurants and pubs near my own home. I enjoy the people and owners in my neighborhood because they take care of their businesses and are very friendly so each and every time I frequent them I know what I am getting.

I agree I dislike taxes too but it is inevitable they are going to charge the taxes. So at least some of the taxes they charge go to a good cause.

I agree; it's good to be "a regular" as much as possible (I'm a regular at a couple churches, a couple bars, my bank, the store, an Asian restaurant, and at a few more places I don't remember ... I have 'one of those faces' ) I disagree with the 'tax'-reason, mostly-because I'm AGAINST "taxes"---I feel government-people should be cared-for either for free or with a sort of 'tithe,' and all public-improvements should be DONE (not PAID-FOR, except in the doing) by the public.

Local businesses for sure! I think it helps to keep the local economy strong and gives area people chances be accomplished. There is sometimes a little extra cost by shopping locally, but the benefits to the community outweigh the dime or two. I avoid Walmart at all costs. That place is going to rule the world and set prices if we are not careful.

I don't mark 'WalMart = Evil,' but humans are subject to greed (when it rears the temptingly seductive side of its ugly head). But the people have the power; if enough consumers decide to opt for the local rather than WalMart, WalMart will have no choice but to retreat to ITS OWN locality!

Well there are a lot of good places to be able to spend $$ at. It often just depends on what type of thing you are looking for, and what type of thing interests you as well. I know that when it comes to restaurants, etc. many times it is Best to tend to spend it at local places or Mom and Pop type places you feel are worth spending your money and time in. These often end up getting to know you personally and will give you better repeat service for sure. And yes, even though many might not see it that way, churches are a good place for people to give their money too as well. Especially if that is what you have determined in your heart to be your home church as well. I also feel that when you give to God god will bless you in many more ways than one.

Honestly I can think of a lot of places that I would love to spend money if I had it but the most intelligent place for me to spend money at this point in my life is bills. I don't get very much money at all and I would like to pay off my vehicle most of all (before it becomes extinct, lol) So my money goes to car payments, insurance payments and the such.

For me I would definitely spend it on my little getaways for myself. That is the best thing for me to do since I have been so busy working to provide. The return for myself would be spending me time more often. Of course also to save but once in a while I should do things for myself to compensate all the stress and tired days I have from work.

Saving? What for? Saving for when the zombies take over and the only way you can sustain yourself is to throw money at them? That's sorta saying 'Have more faith in Our Father's Blessed Providence!'

First preference to spend my all earning money is in hosteling because I like eating new varieties dishes and not only I am alone I wants to party for all friends or family members with me. Second is in cloth purchasing because i like various type of saries so I want to purchase new new saries and remaining money will be saved for future because no one knows how will be their future.

Are you wearing a sari in your avatar? (if you are, it's so dark I can't see it in the little thumbnail) And is "hosteling" 'cooking at home' or just 'general housekeeping'? Anyway, I guess I was not asking so-much about 'what you like to purchase' as about 'what it is best for the community if you purchase'

I agree with you mythociate, The Best Place to Spend your hard earned money, Especially with the way the economy is right now. I would say treat yourself to a nice dinner, Whatever your in the mood for maybe a nice Steak or Sea Food. Not to mention a lot of these places have really good lunch menu deals if you get there before 3pm. Its also good to support your local businesses like mythociate said, Because places like Walmart are putting them out of business. Theirs no more small town America. The local Businesses just cant compete with Big Corporate Giants like Walmart, They cant Beat the prices not to mention if you go to walmart you can do your food shopping, Get your Tires Changed have a tune up, and buy presents for your family all in the same place. The local Businesses just don't stand a chance.

Well, a lot of the Corporate Giants are built on local-business ... they're locally 'mostly owned' (that is, they set prices, keep shop and keep most of the profits locally; but they have to pay the franchise fee and sell corporation-approved products.) The corporation-approved products are usually 'nationally manufactured' (i.e. one company manufactures and ships all over the nation). That's the only thing I don't like about Giant places: they kinda disavow the possibility of better products invented/manufactured closer-to-home.
