I am so excited about taking my son out in the summer, I really want to take him to the zoo, aquarium, places like that but at the same time, I wonder if it is too soon to do so? Should I wait for another year? Because he would be still very small and he won't remember it. I think he will look around for sure but I'm not sure if he will have ideas of the animals and stuff. Wath do you think?

It seems like having a big birthday party for a one year is very popular here where I live. But I think it is more for the parents to have a gathering party with friends more than anything. Because the kid is so small that he/she won't have any memories and won't know what's going on.

Since your son is very little now, so he may not remember or understand what it is or where he is. However, I do think this is important for him to see more when he is little. You will have fun and so does him. It will leave you a good memory. You can tell him the funny things when he is in the zoo when he grows up. He will smile to hear that:) When my son was little, I always brought him everywhere, including having a trip. I love China

why not? just because you have a young baby, doesnt mean you should put your life on hold. after my daughter was born we went to a camp for the weekend with our church (she was just 3 weeks old).

My daughter was very young the first time i took her to the zoo. But of coarse my son was with us and he was much older than her. It was fun all the same.

I did and would if I were you. I think it would be fun and stimulating for his mind and reactions. I hope it is not too far from you home so that you can two can go often. Something about zoos for children they love the adventure. It will continue to allow him to recognize animals and allow him to love them at an early age. Have fun!

Let you son enjoy what you like to do as for going to the Zoo. Are you interested in watching the animals, your son will have a positive experience. He will learn even if he is small. It is beneficial for a child's development to have positive experiences.

I think it is excellent to take a baby out to the zoo and the aquarium. I think that your baby son will enjoy such an activity a lot. He is likely to have some interest and see the different things on offer. When my daughter was 11 months old she got a lot of enjoyment from our trip to Canada.

I think he would be happy too, he won't waste one moment to learn new things, always look aroudn when he is awake.
8 Apr 11
He will love it! Even if he doesn't remember it you will have some lovely memories. At his age his brain needs to be stimulated by new and exciting things. That s how he learns. Have a wonderful day x

I would. Many people take babies to the zoo. They get to hear different sounds as well as see different things even if they don't fully understand what they are seeing exactly. Plus, I think YOU might enjoy yourself too and get some time away from the house.

Yes if we have a zoo..in Zamboanga we do not have a zoo, we only have aviaries and butterfly sanctuaries and i did bring my children there.even my 10 month old baby back then. Since he could now see colors and things around him that move, i guess he also had fun especially with the birds!

You are right, ivy, it is too soon to take a little child to the zoo, in fact it is too soon to take him anywhere. The best place for the child is the home, where the family is, where the books and the toys are. The familiar things make the child understand himself and his world. You can take him to church on Sundays, plus a side trip to a kiosk or a mini mall, but just so he learns there is a world outside. When his self image has developed, then you can introduce him to bigger things like the zoo. Then he will marvel and tell you, Ma, this is the animal we have in the picture book. Sing to your baby, ivy, even if you do not have a good voice. Play hide and seek in your bedroom, even if you have to hide your adult body behind a small stool. Play mega blocks, duckies and boats on basins, swim in a plastic pool...Have fun... these are the best years of motherhood.

I do all these things to him but I thinkit will be good to take him out to playin thesummer, let him learn about the outside seeing we stay indoor throuhgout the winter; even if we don't take him to the zoo, I definitely will take him to playin the pond or the ocean.

Take him! I have a membership at my local zoo that gives me free admission for a year, so my daughter and I go a few times a week. She's only a little over a year old, but she loves it. Her favorite things to see there are the lemurs and tamarins (because they're so active), but she loves the reptile house and all of the snakes, too. The best thing about it is that our zoo doesn't charge admission for kids under three, so I won't have to upgrade to a family membership for two more years.

That's good, but it's not worth for us to get a year pass for the zoon here though because our summer is so short + it is very far for us to drive to the zoo so we only go once to each zoo. We have triple A membership, we probably can get discounted tickets depending on which zoos we go.

I'm on the ropes on this one, Especially after the escape of the Venomous Egyptian Snake, But that was only a fluke and Im sure that will NEVER EVER Happen Again. I guess YES, I would take the baby to the zoo. I think he would have a blast seeing all the animals, Since hes so small like you said he wont remember it later on ,But he will remember when hes there and I'm sure he will have an ABSOLUTE BALL Watching the Monkeys and things like that. If you don't mind me asking what Zoo are you planning on taking him to? I really think he will have a Great Time, Both of You will and I say GO FOR IT! Make an ENTIRE Day out of it, Share an ice cream cone, Buy Him a balloon. By the time you get home he will be so tired from his first big adventure he will sleep through the entire night I bet! Have Fun and Let Us All Know How Much He Enjoyed It!

haha I don't know if he will be ready for ice cream yet though, I'm sure it will be fun to see him look at the animals and see how he reacts to it.

i def would. It these years where you can really bond with your child. Though they wont remember these places you visit, its still good to go. Youll have stories to tell them and pictures to show when they get older.

I would take him this year, and next year. I took my children lots of times. If you enjoy the zoo, take him there and he will have good memories and he will know that you are happy there. It will make him a ready learner as well.

I would. You never know what a baby learns, even if he wont remember. But maybe if he has a nice time now he will like animals all his life. Babies are like sponges: they absorb evry new thing. I remember once when my eldest granddaughter said that she was tired after school but her baby brother had been playing all morning. No way, I replied. He has been studying hard with his toys.

hello ivy, I am sure your son will enjoy the idea, aquarium and also kids around. Then, you can take him again next year and i am sure he will always loved that. Babies don't have words to say but will surely appreciate what he sees. It will help him inter-act more with the surroundings. Have fun this summer with your baby dear.

At that young age, a trip to the zoo is more for the caretaker than the child. Knowing what they are actually taking in is something only we can experience. When the child can't relate back, it's difficult to say who is getting the enjoyment from the trip.

I would. Things like that get baby's minds stimulated and help them grow. I'm sure he'll love the zoo and aquarium! And if you're anything like me, you'll probably love it too. Have fun if you decide to go!

I love the zoo, we went to the different zoos every year and we have a baby this year. My husband says it will be too young for him to go though because he won't remember it.
