Hi friends!
I log in to different websites and sometimes I find it difficult to remember the exact password for each site. It is not practically possible for me to keep the same password for each website. I was wondering what my other friends do? How do you manage to remember your different pass words? Do you keep all your pass words in your mind and you are able to recall, when need be or do you write it down somewhere? Or do you keep your password noted down in a file/folder on PC itself. I try to note down my password specially for those sites, which I don’t log in frequently. However, while opening a new account/registering myself, if I fail to note down the password, I find myself in dock. Although, I know that websites have provision to send the password through (our) emails, however, that causes problems sometimes because some of the sites have a complex procedure to retrieve our pass word. Your suggestion please. Thanks in advance for your valuable inputs.

That's why I don't want to join so many. I am hopeless with remembering passwords, names, ids, numbers and so on. I at one time even forgot my own ATM card password, so I had to get a new card at the bank.
Maybe, you need a little notes that you can carry easily and write down everything.

Little notes are hard to keep track of. I used to use little notes, but now I keep an indexed notebook.

Hi jen!
I know you are wiser and practical that is why you do not join so many sites. . Writing pass-words on a little notes may be dangerous, if I lose those notes, I will be in soup..
Please try to remember your ATM password from now onwards, otherwise, you cannot withdraw money in an emergency and ATM password has only four digits.
Thanks for dropping in.

I have several notebooks all containing lists and bits of info. I'm still quite happy to make hard copy notes rather than putting things on the computer.
I store passwords in these notebooks and I use a type of code so that the whole password is not visible but simple for me to know what the complete thing is.
I have noticed in Firefox, in Tools, then Options, there is a page for saved passwords and you can see all those words that you have saved on your computer.
I mean to start up a notebook entry for my daughter so that when my time to pass comes, she will have all the info to be able to access everything on my computer and bank accounts, survey sites etc so she can get out any payments pending.

It appears an interesting idea to store passwords in notebooks and that too when the entire passwords are not not visible, only you can make out, what is all about.
Thanks for sharing your secrets.

Hi dpk! Wow! You must have been reading my mind! I have been
resenting running into this problem alot lately. I find myself
signing up for different sites (which is also causing other
issues) and I keep forgetting which "user name" and "password"
I use for each site. I have to write them down or I totally
forget! This usually ends up with me "asking the site" to
send me the password option to change the password and as you
have said sometimes this is extremely difficult and can take
many steps to get it done and is rather annoying! So, my
suggestion to you is to write them down in a "book"-not on
the computer! I am trying to do that now! I am also going to
stop signing up for these stupid "lying scam sites" like
Publishers Clearing House!!! They keep promising you can
win by "searching, playing and whatever". I have found out
that they have been reported to the Better Business Bureau
on numerous occasions because they are full of c..p!

Hi Opal!
I am good at reading my friends' mind and I can read it anytime.. I understand that we share the common problem, some of the users in this post have suggested about 'roboform.com' which helps in saving passwords, you may try that. I will also try that.
How is life? You never sent me your email ID, even after making numerous promises

Hi, there's a very good free program that you can use and it's called Roboform. I don't know if you've ever heard of this but basically it stores all your passwords and log in details of different sites that you visit and it's very safe and secure. I use this program myself although I upgraded to the paid version and this gives you unlimited amount of passwords that you can store. I will leave the link for you to have a look at in anycase. http://www.roboform.com Good luck. Andrew

I actually do keep the same password for most of my sites (and when I change one, I change all the others too)...and it's just 2 others where I have a different password(which isn't hard enough to remember). I don't think it's wise to note it down anywhere (in my case) because it can fall into the wrong hands.

HI SV!
It is easier to remember a common password. However, due to some reasons, sometimes we are required to create some special or say complex passwords and keeping them in mind gets difficult, until and unless we make some back up data. Thanks for dropping in.

I do remember alot of passwords for alot of sites. there are only a few of them that I have to save and look up every now and then when I want to log in there. I try to remember them though so I do not have to look them up every time.

Hello dpk262006! Yes i remember all my password maybe because i write it all in a small notebook that I always bring. I do not log in to those sites I am in when I do not have this small notebook of mine. There are sites that I remember the passwords and I do not have to check on my notes. I hope I will be able to safe keep this small notebook I have because this is the only way I will be able to work on line and get paid.

I have a word document saved on my computer that has a list of websites and the passwords I use there. I can open it at the same time I am registering that way I don't forget. Now ones like my online banking or paypal are safely tucked away in my mind, but for websites I use the word document.

Hi jen!
One of the other friends also gave a similar idea and I liked your idea that passwords could be saved in a folder/file and that file could be protected with a password. Only thing is whenever we log in to a new site, we need to note down the details of password etc. on the concerned folder on our PC. Many thanks for dropping in and sharing.

I keep a box with index cards beside the computer. Each card has a password and maybe something about the site (payout etc.). If I need a password I just look it up. I have used the procedure to retrieve a password a few times but I really don't like to do it. Most times you have to go back to your e-mails and check your messages, and sometimes it takes awhile to get it. I much rather have them right at my fingertips whenever I need it.

It means that you need to keep the index cards very safely, if they get misplaced then some problem could arise. Thanks for your suggestions.

I like very thing to to be easily and simple.
For me, I shall make all of my user name and passwords to be the same for most of the site.
ha! ha! ha!
This is the way a lazy man as me want to be.
From my understanding, the Window 7 can remember all of your passwords.
Other than the methods above, I do record down all of my sites with my respective user's names and passwords in a note book.
This is to ease my reference from time to time.
Submission to the site to reset or to retrieve my forgotten password or user name will be my final choice.

hello,
Even I , I am also having a hard time to memorize all the password that I used in different website, their are times that I cant hardly remember what my password is. So, all I do is to put the same password in different site that I used because it is really hard for me. Maybe you should think what is more comfortable to you . alright?
good luck

Hi dpk,
I either use the same password for similar type of websites, or I email myself. So as long as you remember your email password, set up a folder in your email account called "passwords", email yourself all your passwords when you create them, and then all you need to do is go to that folder to check.
Hope it helps!

I keep a notebook with indexed tabs for the first letter of each site. If I take my laptop somewhere, I put the notebook in the bag. My husband has a little book that holds 3x5 cards and when you do something like this you can also make notes about the companies you have signed up for. I seem to have a different point of view each day, so I may have several on one topic, and then on another day, they will all be of a different form. My computer remembers many of my passwords, though, and if they e mail my information to me to confirm that I joined, then I put that in a file on the computer.

Hello!
Noting down passwords in a Notebook is a wiser option. However, notebook is required to be kept safely because in case it gets lost, one could be in soup. Many thanks for your additional inputs.

yes i hate all the run around to retrieve passwords! I like to kept a book in my computer desk which includes all my favourite websites address logins and passwords details i need. I find it very useful and although i do tend to save some on the websites it helps for incase the computer crashes. never record banking details in this type of book. Those you will have to memorise.

It's pretty difficult at first to remember all passwords that I use in different sites. I used to write down my passwords but I don't want anyone else to see it so I just try to remember it. Since I use the computer everyday, I get to "practice" using all my passwords. I never use the "remember me" or "remember password" options because I won't get to type my passwords and I'll end up forgetting them.

Hi there!
I agree with you that 'not' using - "remember me" or "remember password" options proves good in the long run, as one is required to type his/her password as one logs in and when we do something repetitively it really helps. Thanks for sharing.

I think the best way is to use some password manager software like Roboform to remember the passwords. It allows you to set a master password to gain access to the password list.
You also need to make a list of them as backup in case something went wrong with your computer.
I keep my list of passwords in 2 different email accounts in an scrambled form in case something is wrong with Roboform.
I used to write it down on a piece of paper. It was missing when I need to refer to it.

well I use two sets of passwords for sites. I use passwords that are significantly related to me. like for instance i use my birthday or any dates that are significant to me. I also use sometimes my phone number as a password. so You can choose between your birthday or fone number to use as a password.
