sleepy but can't sleep

I always sleep so late. 2am in the morning and wake up at 5am. I have hard times to find a good night sleep because of my insomia. I wanna get rid of it. I tried drinking milk before sleeping, yoga, and some exercise. They say if I'll be tired I can get a good night sleep, but, usually though I feel really really sleepy, I still can't sleep. Counting sheep doesn't work. I usually recite what's on my mind whenever I can't sleep. Usually I recite the states of USA and it's capital. Or sometimes the Romeo and Juliet. And if I can't still sleep I act like a child reciting the multiplication table til I reach the highest number I could multiply manually, but still don't work. I can't use sleeping pills since I have heart problems, and there are possibilities that I won't wake up when I get heart attack while sleeping. Sigh, I envy those who can sleep very well. Oh., actually, now, the moment I'm writing it, it's 1am here. And my eyes are still wide open. :D Anyways, Happy mylotting:)

Hi zaga_cleuth, I feel sorry to learn that you could hardly enjoy the normal sleep like what we usually have in night time. I hope what you have come across would become better after some days. For me reciting would stimulate my brain and make me more energetic. Reading boring book or article would make me drowsy I can't fall asleep as well if going to bed after 1am. To avoid keeping on toss and turn on the bed the whole night I always try to get to bed before 11.45pm. Before my bedtime I read latest news and watch online video. This makes my eyes get tired easily therefore I don't find any problem to fall asleep so far Happy posting

I keep the same sleeping hours. I'm usually in bed by 12, but I don't think I can get to sleep until way, way late. I usually watch Craig Ferguson which runs until 1:35 so I think I don't get to sleep until 2am too. And my alarms start at 5am too. It doesn't mean I get up right away, but usually I'm already awake by then. Good think I get to sleep in on the weekends.

Atleast you have weekends to sleep and to rest. I can't sleep at weekends cuz I have a lot of things to think of and to do. Study mode every weekdays and business at weekends.

That is a very serious problems to all of those who got insomnia. You know it was hard to sleep when we got awake at the middle of the night. For me when i awake at this time i hardly going back to sleep and this is because of thinking some problems. Or some thing that is needed to have a better future and life makes happy always even at the middle of miseries. When this feelings are goin to happen to me, i know it will affect with my health and my mind. I hate deep thinking most especially at night. It gives me pain. Everything comes into my mind and all emotions to feel at all angles of my life that causes me to be awake at all night. I hate thinking too much but i have nothing to do but to accept the fact and reality of life. I need to give all my best at all times. But it was hard to battle to the reality of life that i need to face. That it was hard to be sleepy at the middle of the night when i awake. Many causes.

Sad. why? because we have the same experiences. lol. Funny but everytime I'm experiencing that trouble in sleeping, oh I can't help but loss my patience. I really hate waking up in the middle of the night. Having my sweet dreams then suddenly something will make me awake and can't go back to sleep. So tragic for me. Usually I experience the same drama. Anyways, thanks for the response mods196621:)

I don't usually have any trouble sleeping. I hate to get up in the morning and take a nap everyday. Sometimes I have difficulty falling back to sleep after I get up to go to the bathroom. If that happens I get up and read for awhile. Then I can go back to sleep. Lying in bed trying to sleep just makes it harder to fall asleep, so try getting up and doing something. Good Luck!

Yeah. True, and that bothers me much. I have trouble on sleeping and there are times I used to get up at night just because of loud noises. That really creep me out.

You can do so many activity to make you will be more tired. Maybe you can do some sport after that you can sleep. But, you may not to see a laptop anymore. It can be make you hard to sleep because of radiation.

I do that. I have a lot of extreme sports yet I can't find a good night sleep. Yes I guess, radiation from computers really affects me every night. I guess, night is my only time to do all things on my computer. That's why I find myself busy with all these and can't find a good night sleep.

me too. i am jealous of people that get a good nights sleep. sleep is elusive to me fairly often, not because of things that are playing through my mind but because i have health issues. if i do manage to fall asleep, i never get a good relaxing sleep. i often wake up more tired than i was the night before.

yeah I'm experiencing that too. What kind of health problem do you have? Maybe it was the same like mine. I haven't go to physician and have a check. I thought these things are normal.

I have hard time falling asleep either... I have not been able to fall asleep for this last week, I lied down on the bed with my eyes close but I just can't rest, I feel like my eyes are sleeping on it's own but my mind is still working... It is painful, besides, I have to get up in the middle of the nights for my baby so it makes my sleep time even worse.

Oh. . yupz that is really terrible. Atleast I don't have a baby to take good care of. You should have enough sleep and rest because you might get sick if not. Since you have a child to take care of.

Hi there, I can understand your problem. You are not exactly suffering from insomnia but a sort of habit has crawled into you. That you sleep at 2 and get up at 5 has become your routine. What you have to do is to change your routine. Even if you are not not getting sleep do not worry. You need not count sheep. I say just forget that you are trying to sleep. The more you would think on it the more you would get away from sleep. Just try what I have said. And tell me if that has worked.

i tried it. Yet nothing happened. Maybe I should go for a check up. Though I go to bed so early I can't really sleep. Thinking of nothing. Just as if lying in bed.

I also have a hard time falling asleep, I find that the moment I turn everything off, my mind keeps going... some nights I am able to clear my head of all though and get to sleep and then other night I end up laying in bed wide awake... praying for sleep to come.. sometimes i grab a drink to put me to sleep or sometimes i wake up my other half to talk... or other times i just fall asleep watching tv... Try clearing your mind of all of the worries of the day, granted they will be there in the morning but you will have a good nights rest to be rechanged... ready to face the next day with a clear head...and enegry that you would have not had if you stayed awake worrying... Good luck to u and hopefully you can get some good sleep.. OH and if you cant get the sleep you need, at least rest your body, it doesnt replace sleep but its better then going full board 24/7... I know because i have two young children and three adult children that require my attention at all hours of the day and night...

Whoah, that is so tiring. I used to clear my mind, I watched tv, I can feel that I am really sleepy. But, when I close my eyes still I can't sleep. Thinking of nothing.

Eat ripe banana and drink milk, that's a good downer. I hope it will help you,i am doing that when i arrived home from work. I work at night and come home early morning and it's hard for me to sleep because i am not used to sleeping in daytime. My team mates told me to eat banana and drink milk, and it really helps me to sleep well. happy weekend

Yeah. The same i used to do everyday. lol. Well, I guess it started when I got addicted to coffee. I can't even go out from our house without drinking atleast 3 cups of coffee. And when I arrive at school I'll buy another cup. I stopped it, but now, I can't go back to my usual routine or time of sleep. Sleep is a precious thing to me. So hard to find. And can't be bought. Milk can't even reverse my addiction to coffee. I'm now addicted to milk yet, I can't still have a good night sleep. :( Thanks for the response anyways. Happy mylotting. :)

I as well have a hard time sleeping a lot of the time. I will feel very very tired when I am working on the computer and just looking at the screen will make my eyes begin to close and fall asleep but the minute I put the computer down and go lay down I am wide awake. I can no longer just fall into sleep like when I am typing and then I can fight it. Most of the time I will just lay in complete dark with my eyes closed till I just fall asleep or many times I just fall asleep right at the computer. I hope you can find a doctor that can help you sleep better or maybe all you need to do is just try to force yourself to sleep to get on a new routine.

I am trying to have a new routine. Aside from the dramas I'm always experiencing every night I can't really bare it. There are times that I had a better sleep, but when I woke up I felt so exhausted. As if more tired than before I slept. I can't understand. I wanna see a doctor but I'm so busy to do so. Maybe some time.
