Hi Mylot friends: What makes you want to add someone as a friend on Mylot. There are so many reasons I feel interested on someone and that makes me want to add him/ her as a friend. But these are some of the main reasons that makes me add someone here as my friend:
1. If he/ she participates on my discussions and I want to keep this contact
2. When I find someone that makes good discussions or that his/her answers are wise.
3. When I agree with him/ her on a lot of things so I think we are going to have very good conversations. Or maybe I don't agree with him/ her at all but I find him/ her a very interesting person to have a discussion with.
4. When he/ she talks about the subjects that I feel the most interested
And finally I have also added some persons as my friends after looking their profiles and found them really interesting.
So how about you guys? How do you select your friends on Mylot? What makes you add someone as a friends.

All of the Above! The first thing I look for is , can I respond to their posts. If I can , then I add them. I keep them if he/she can answer my posts on at least one of my interests. I have my hockey friends for example. The only two reasons I ever delete a friend is one, on a major issue we can't agree to disagree or they disappear. They haven't been here in over 2 months , then I delete them. There are exceptions, but mostly they are gone.

Me too.All this means is you are a very caring person. Just because we may never meet Does Not mean the friendship that has formed Isn't real! I have lost many a friend here . They just seem to fade away. Thankfully I find new ones.

Hi sarah: You are right. I think is really beautiful how we all can be friends no matter where we come from. Thanks to Mylot for that. I usually have fun on the site.

Hi sarah ruth beth: I think that's a good way to know if you are going to have a good relationship with a possible friend on the site. I haven't deleted a friend yet. I understand the first reason, but in the second case it must be hard, specially if you like to talk to someone that has just disappeared. This may be sound funny but I have felt sometimes sad when I've found that someone on the site, (even if he/she is in another part of the world and we will probably not going to see each other face to face) has just go away.

Hi Kirinx: My instinct have also worked with me. I have found some very interesting persons on the site and I knew I was going to like them from the very first moment I read a comment or watched their profile.
Yeah, you are right. It seems that I've chosen the right picture

I send a friend request if I see someone who starts a lot of disussions about topics that I am interested in or if I get the impression that we have many things in common for instanse some of the same hobbies. If I notice someone who often responds to my discussions I also send a friend request sometimes. When I want to send a friend request to someone I don't think much about age or country. I have friends who are younger and friends who are older than me and I have friends from many different parts of the world

Hi Porcospino: Thanks for your answer. You have actually made me remember about another friend of mine of the site which is older than me and he is one of the persons I like the most on the site because he is the one who gives you really good advices and the one that start the wisest discussions. Actually, when we add friends from different countries and ages we can learn more.

I generally find a discussion and start reading the responses. If I find someone that I find interesting or sharing some of my interests (this is how I found your discussion!) Kindness and genuine go a long way too.
I try to be careful of other peoples opinions when answering to replies. So I really do try to pick good kind interesting people that give good answers and would expect the same from me.
Now with that said, I have read several of your responses and I am gonna go see if I can be your friend! :o)

I agree with you on ALL of the items that you've stated in your discussion. The only thing that I add up is I automatically approve or request a person to be my friend if he is a Filipino. It is not stereotyping, I just feel inclined to befriend someone if that person have the same ethnicity as I am.

I don't often ask others to be my friend, but when I do, it's because we have the same interests and mostly, the same viewpoints, but not always. Sometimes it's good to listen to someone else's viewpoints, religion and politics excepted only for the reason that too many become militant about opposing views and that's no fun.

Hi peavey: In general I don't like to participate on political discussions because people sometimes can be very agressive when they defend their points of views. There mis too much passion on these subjects and I am here to enjoy a good conversation, not for fighting. Thanks for your answer.

I usually add other mylotters if I think he/she will give me responses with good quality meaning he/she will read what I type first before responding, you can tell by reading the responders' responses.
I like to add some mylotters who often create discussions.
I like to add mylotters who has the same interest or topics that we both like to participate in.
I added you as friend and you look cute haha

Hi mermaidivy: I like people that write good answers. That's teh best way we can have an interesting conversation so we'll be enjoying our time here. In my case I don't care about the number of discussions that a amember has created, however if someone is very active on the site and if I find his/her discussions interesting I'm sure I'll add him/her as a friend. Interestings and comments are definetly a good sign to meet our friends here.
Thanks for that compliment I think you have a very cute picture too.

Hi starsailover and I see you changed your avatar!
I don't normally request not because of any preference but I get so many requests that most times the ones I feel would make great myLot friends have already requested.
I don't normally have specific preference like religions, and or countries. Personally any member who enjoys interacting and furthering discussions, I would find makes a great myLot friend.
When it comes to adding I do check to make sure it is not someone who simply wants to spam with links. I generally can tell that by their comments and responses. As rule though I normally accept all simply to get them started because I too came to myLot alone and did not bring friends.
Thus far accepting all I have not had any problems and although I interact heavily on myLot none of them place conditions where I have to answer all discussions. Because I f I have not knowledge I will not respond with rubbish to simply earn. I have seen a lot of that and that is not something I do.

Hi hard working gurl: Thanks for your compliment. Actually I am not sure wether to use this avatar of the new picture I have added to my profile, the one of the doll .
I agree with you. Now that I am more active here I see how some people spam a lot. For example I've created a subject about my birthday gifts and giving a gift for yourself on a special day and there was a guy that post his Neobux link as an answer. I value quality answers as your for example . Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a nice day.

That is an interesting post. Here are some of things that want to make me add someone as a friend;
(1) a person who respond to my post several times, I know s/he is a genuine person.
(2) see the region the person comes from becasue we may basically share similar interests.
(3) someone who share same interest as mine because that would generate further discussions and insights.
(4) opposite gender as mine, simply to opposite issues and pulses is a good ground to keep the friendship going for long time.

Hi jak: These are actually some of the things that I use to find my friends here except for the country. I am from Mexico but I usually don't care for the country where my friends come from. In fact if this other person come from a totally different culture this makes him/her more interesting to me because I'll learn new things which is nice.

I basically add all who ask. I believe that even though you cannot send private messages to all of them all the time, They are here for you to communicate with and participate in discussions. If you post a discussion, all your friends will most likely respond. I know I try my best to respond. I like having online friends.

As you can see I am a newbie here, but a I think that the most important thing for a person to become a friend, besides the fact that we have to have at least a common interest, is to be active daily so maybe I will get to see how he or she is thinking. After that the relationship between online friends is over rated. At least this is how it is seen in my country.

Hi daxta: Don't worry, we all have been newbies at some point. I think we all agree on the fact that an active person is the one you'd like to have as a friend on a site like this to have interesting discussions and these are trhe ones that care to improve Mylot. Welcome to mylot and thanks for your answer.

I'm still new here and don't have many friends yet...so I guess I need a push to add more people as friends. I do like to add people who have put interesting responses or post good discussions. Sometimes it's more interesting to have friends you disagree with, you can definitely learn more this way and it is always nice to get a different perspective. Also if someone is funny I always want to add them, I can always use a laugh!
