China
April 8, 2011 8:43pm CST
It is my first time to post in this forum. I am Chinese, and never been abroad. I don't even have foreign friends. But I am eager to communition with people from different cultures, and make friends. I know each country has its own aesthetic taste, likes and dislikes tendency. ~~you guys, suppose I wanna make friends with people from your country, what should I pay attention to? Just give me some points, thank you~~~By the way, I am not confident with my English~~haha

Hello dear Recoba! You are welcome to Mylot. You´ll met people from the whole world here. You just need to be as you are. Just talk of what you want. Don´t feel affraid of being you. We´ll read you and write you. Don´t get nervous with your english. We wont make any grammatical correction. Just feel free and happy! This is a very lovely place where you learn about a lot of things around the Globe. Blessings!... Dainy

Mylot is a great place for this. There are people from all over the world here. Languages can sometimes come out funny. One simply asks more questions if the answers do not sound right. Your english is so much better than my chinese. I thank everyone who must take the effort to translate. You always do great.

Well I have overseas friends and all i can say is be yourself. If your personalities match or they like you there is no need to pretend to be another person.

Hello welcome to Mylot. I have been here for a year and I LOVE IT!! About making friends, for me there are hits and misses. I will try to remember each friend I have corresponded with. Each is special and they have enriched my life more and more. Just be who you are like how you have written. If you are sincere your personality will show up no matter what. Dun worry about language. Wonderful mylotters never care about this, only rotten ones.

Well one of the easiest ways to make friends with people from other cultures are online video games I made some cool buds like that..Another way is forums like these. You will see just about every race here from black, white, asian, etc etc. Plenty of diversity here.

People are people, and most people will be as interested in learning about you as you are to learn about them. I am in the U.S. (I am actually on "mylot time" because I'm in the same timezone) and I have friends on mylot from all over the world. I am some what older than many of my friends and younger than others. I'm single, some are not, some are parents of small children, some of adult children. In fact, it seems, people I would never meet in "real life" have become my friends just because we share the internet and mylot. So, don't worry about your English, it seems quite good and even if it were not so good, most people try to understand, just jump in with your interests, but remember, not to ask "yes or no" type questions, those get taken down. Welcome to MYLOT!

If you want to get friends from different cultures, the first thing would be.. Dont make it an issue just relax and the words will come to you.. Online their are no boundries divding the countries; just attitudes of the people... We are all one race... we are all human beings... talk to others about what you would like to talk about..

I guess the only pointer I can give you is study the culture of the person you're trying to befriend. You might overlook some stuff and end up offending the person.

First I'd say try to pronounce a few common words that you'd be likely to mispronounce and end up offending someone. Try to learn the other person's culture a bit more that you're trying to befriend. Find someone to experiment with for example your parents? Someone that is of similar abilities to you would be good. Talk to foreign people on-line, you may end up learning something and find out something that you never knew about that culture; use it with another person of the same culture, you may sound intelligent ;)
