Have you ever cut hair for yourself?

As usual,we always have our hair cut in the barber's,but sometimes I didn't like the hairstyle which the barber cut,so I had to improve it. One of my previous colleagues used to cut himself a good hairdo; And one of my previous co-workers told me that her mum usually cut hair for her dad. One day after my wife went to the market to care about her cloth booth,I cut my hair with her cloth-cutting scissors. But I had the back hair cut very ugly,so that I had to go to the barber's for help. In the evening when my lover came home, she found that my hairstyle was newly cut,but different from before.I said I cut it myself with her scissors, she complained that I would spoil the scissors! Some days later she bought me a new hair-cutting scissors.Ever since then I cut hair by myself, till now my new hairdo is never ugly.

I do cut my own hair, not too much though. Most of the time, i'm just thinning my hair, so that it doesn't appear too thick. I want my hair long, so it's pointless for me to visit a salon just to trim it? I rather do it myself, and the experience i gained over the years definitely make me a good self hairdresser. I've even tried my hands on my bf's hair, and it looks fine too.

In fact I do as the same as yours, the difference is that I cut me a man's hairdo.Because I am not strong,I look rather ugly if I cut my hair too short.I thin my hair each time,so it never takes me too long to cut my hair.

May be it look fun, but for a surprise, I do for myself for last several years. The reason also the same, they cut the way how they like and it won't fit for me and I have to wait 15-20 days to get normalised. Then I decided and tried my own way. Initially I tried carefully and as you said, the back side is managed with another mirror behind and it is difficult to get practiced. But took little more time and managed. I help my son also and for last many years, I never send my son to barber's shop. Though he is unwilling, once completed, he like the style that I do for him. It is just an art and if we have a good idea about how to do it, we can manage the style, that we like. Thank-s

Yes, if we have the confidence and matching to our style and like, why should waste the money. 2 advantages - save money and stay with our own style also!!! I think I started my self hair cutting since last 20 years or more. Regards, Thank-s

Oldsix691418, Not really knowing whether to laugh or not, at your nearly disastrous haircut but I have to hand it to you for picking up the skill to cut your own hair. It is commendable considering that you managed to achieve it right after the first "accident". Then, I nearly fell off my chair when I read your wife's reaction when you told her how you managed to cut your hair with her scissors. I wonder if your haircut was undesirable to her that she could actually be more mindful of her scissors over you. Sort of misplaced, don't you think? Anyway, I am glad for you at the end but I would never cut my own hair. For one, I have a barber whom I am regular with back home where I can trust his cuts and styling. I just like the relaxing time there.

Hi,my friend!First I must thank you for your flattering, and then I hope my wife's cloth scissors have never hurt you!I can tell you that she really liked the hairdo that I cut,so she wanted me to cut for her later. I don't think you have to cut your hair by yourself since you have a stylist friend.

Wow.. I cut my hair sometimes too- but only in front since I can't see my hair at the back.. I just go to the barber to get it done. I asked my mom to cut my hair for me, since it's not that hard, you just have to follow a line and stuff- but she won't since she'd scared she'd mess it up.

Hi,there! It's very sweet of your wife to buy your new scissors.Well,I don't know how to cut hair for myself.I'm afraid that I would do a terrible job. It's easier to just cut the bangs though.Yet I have never tried to do that. One of my friends do know how to cut hairs and she once did it for my roomie and I will say she did quite a good job. Have a good night!

Hi,there! Maybe. But I think it's also possible that she just found an excuse to buy you a new one and didn't want you to know it.I mean,I would do that.Saying that "Oh,no.You are gonna ruin my scissors",but actually thinking that a new pair may help with the haircut.

Actually yes. I do cut my bangs and fringes for myself. And I'm well pleased with the result. I am good at such things so sometimes I cut my friend's and my sister's hair too. Actually I pretty much cut everyone's hair who have trust on me that I'll not ruin their hair and they say the're pretty satisfied with the outcome.

Haha, your cutting let you so down, didn't it?I am a man,and I cut my hair little by little to ensure there are not big marks in case someone else laughs at me. Now my hair scissors are a little dull,my wife will buy me a new pair soon. And I think I have to cut my hair this Friday,it's so long.

I had my girlfriend trim my hair once years ago. It was very, very, long. She cut on the slant and really upset me. So I went and had it done in a layered style. It was done so well I could do it and from then on I cut it myself. Then I let it grow out but had it in this style for acouple of years. Glad it turned out for you.

I knew my father used to cut his hair using a razor blade, for finishing touches. Especially at the back area, then it doesn't need to be retouched by barbers. It's nice then and no one can tell he does it himself. Good also you were able to save your money and been satisfied with your own service. That's excellent customer service for yourself happy weekend

I started cutting my husband's hair as a means to save more money. I was scared more than anything else to do it at first, but then he turned out well and we've been doing it ever since. He has student loan payments coming up in June, so we've done a lot to cut back on spending in different areas...and since I hate shopping and doesn't drive, we buy little more than necessities. Cutting his hair has saved us $11.00 plus tip (I usually give $2.00 tip) every other month, which isn't much, but it cuts out a needless bill that we now have multiplied in a savings account and growing interest. As for me, I usually need a hair cut once a year. I grow it out real long and then cut it so it can still be considered long, but it gets rid of all the split ends. I haven't cut my hair since starting to cut my husband's, and I'm a little leary of cutting my own hair. Knowing my husband, him trying to cut it would be worse. I'm thinking about asking my best friend to cut it for me...she's a pet groomer in her career, and even though I'm not a dog, at least she knows hair!

You are great! You are good at both budgetting the family and cutting your hubby's hair, but you never have the heart to cut your long hair. Haha,do you want a pet groomer to cut your hair? You are so unique and funny!

I started cutting my husband's hair when we got married. The first time I was very very careful and only trimmed his hair in the exact style that it was already in. The second time, I cut the back shorter than he wanted it, so he didn't let me cut the front which resulted in kind of a girl a-line hair cut. Now, I'm careful to not make that mistake again!

That's great! hehe I also cut my hair the last two times, I don't cut very often because I like to have very long hair. But sometimes, I need to improve my hair's health so I have to cut it a bit. I like to cut my hair myself because, at least for women, when you go to the salon and you tell to the stylist that you want she cuts just a bit, on the ends, they don't, they almost make you a pixie haircut!, just "because your hair needs". So, no, I rather cut my hair by myself and as I want, and I do a good job! Years of watching stylists managing scissors have helped me. :)

You are great, too! Once you go to the stylist, you always have to obey him or her,and you cannot order at all because there are enough reasons to persuade you to listen to the stylist.

YOU are one lucky boy...Olds, she didn't use her precious "cloth" scissors on other parts of you....! Seriously, now...I have "specific" scissors for specific jobs! And never USE one for another's job! And you would find me chasing you thru the Forest, if you did so...but in my defence they are clearly marked! Those are two luxuries I allow myself..good quality for both! I have NOT seen the inside of a hair salon for many, many years. It is far more thrifty for me to cut/trim my own hair. It's an expense that I find nefarious, as I keep my hair long...BUT I do know it is necessary for men to visit Barber shop's.....but GOOD ON YOU..now doing it yourself!

I was thinking you were scared to respond to me...in fear that I, the "scissor" lady would come after you...LOL! I am NOT as fearful as I sound..just that I am very annal "about the protection of my scissors"...as my understanding is "specific" scissors are made out of specific compounds (steel) for the purpose at hand...and the WORST culprit, believe it or not for dulling scissors...is PAPER!
• China

She never had the heart to do that! I know you are good at using your "specific" scissors, but they are for YOU only, not for me!

Hello Oldsix. It is cool that you try to cut your own hair by yourself, but I don't dare to try it as I am afraid that I cannot do a good job at all. I have a small child and I told my wife to get a pair of professional hair-cutting scissors so that she can try on my little child. Once she can do a good job, she can try cutting my hair for me to save some time and money from going to the barber's, which would be fun though. lol

Hello Oldsix, Ha ha So your wife worried about the scissors not on your hairstyle. Anyway she has given a new one to you so kind of her. For ladies it is really easy to cut hair at home. I always cut my hair myself at home, it is so easy because I have long hair. I remember when I was school kid, an elderly person used to come to our home for cutting the hair of kids including me. That is the only time some other person cut my hair.

In fact she didn't buy me a pair of new scissors until I made her scissors dull. Yes,it's much easier for a woman to cut hair for herself. When I was a kid,I always went to an elder man at the same village and let him cut hair for me.

Hi. Oldsix691418. I am glad that your wife gave you the proper cutting scissors. You can't use cloth cutting scissors to cut your hair only hair-cutting scissors. I am sure that you know that by now though. I am glad that you hair cut looks really nice.

Not really, except for my last visit to the parlor where I really didn't feel good about my hair do. I told the hair dresser that I wanted a layered hair. And when I saw the outcome, I have a lot of tails in my head! I just have to cut them off by myself when I returned home. Well somehow I got the effect that I want.
