A young man is shot 6 times at close range, by the time he has reached the ER he is dead, but since it was such a short time they decide to try to save him. He has a hole in a major artery and lost a great deal of blood, he's been shot in his gut his knee, his brain was nicked by the same shot that got his artery and he has a hole in is thrumb. They are able to stop the bleeding in his artery and start pumping blood into him. Later that night they take him into surgery to find the other bullets. In the mean time his Grandfather has put out the call for prayer on his behalf, due to the Internet this goes all over the country and is picked up by friends, family and even strangers. By morning the patient is in ICU and still classified are critical. 4 days later and four surgeries later he is given a rating of good chance of recovery with little or no disability. Now the question is could all this have taken place starting from the very first decision to try to save him if no one cared? Did the large company of prayer help? I can't answer these questions, but one thing I do know is it didn't hurt.

I think that there is great power in prayer and that is the reason that when I have friends that put a call out for prayers that I will pray for them. And it is also the reason that I will also ask for prayers for myself or for those people that I care about that are going through tough times in their lives. I know that prayers might not always be answered in the way that we would like them to be answered, but I do believe that they are always answered in some way.

Studies have shown that even people who did not know they were being prayed for recovered at a greater rate and with less after effects than those who were not prayed for. I truly believe that prayer works--whether God takes time from his busy schedule to intervene or all that love becomes an actual force, prayer does work.

I don't know either but your right...it sure can't hurt. I kind of see prayer as a cry for help and even a transfer of good energy/well wishes.

When we pray, we believe that there are something that may hear of it and will let it happen and it boost our confidence. That is my opinion.

Hi savvypat! This is a beautiful and inspiring story of faith and what it can do. I believe that a collective prayer brings out energy that does its power particularly when done with sincerity in intention. There's much in science what we do not know about and yes, it won't hurt to believe.

Hi savypat, Thanks for sharing this very interesting story and I too believe in the power of prayer. Whenever there is a need either my wife or I will call the Silent Unity prayer center where someone is always in prayer. Unity uses positive prayer in the form of affirmations. I don't think of prayer as begging or pleading with an old man in the sky, to grant a special favour to one that he wouldn't grant to another. Just as positive thinking works better than negative thinking, so affirming the truth about God and the universe helps us to understand and accept the perfect outcome. Blessings.

I believe in miracles and prayers too. No matter what people say that we always resort to the Higher Being when needing something , I feel that's a bit of an arrogance to say that. Of course we must always look upon to the Higher Being .. and in my case it's God .. to pray and seek help. It doesn't matter whether a person is religious or not , anybody can always start to pray and seek help ..and sometimes miracles come in small bundles. Or at other times , in major situations. I believe it wasn't the time yet for the man to go , and so he survives. What a great story , thanks for sharing it.

I can understand how much you elieve in the power of prayer. Sometimes we will have times when only our faith and belief is what we have to make us strong. the power of prayer can lift us up just when we may need it the most.

Basically it all comes down to belief. If you truly believe sometimes things can happen. I am not a religious person at all but I believe what goes around comes around. You know, Karma. I wouldn't say prayer has power as much as belief does.

The economic conditions in the world today have brought so much anxieties to many households, But economics is not the only problem that many families have to contend with. There is the nagging problem of deteriorating family relations, the danger of growing criminalities and the treat of being affected with different illnesses. But whatever the case may be, we can take refuge in the Lord, especially in times of troubles and difficulties. by faithfully praying to God, we can find comfort in Him. As we live in this world, we encounter trials. In view of this, we should be prayerful. We should establish family prayers in every household to prove our faith and trust in God. Let us put our hearts in our prayers to Him. Thus, God will not ignore our prayers if we say them fervently and with conviction. This is the kind of faith that we should possess. We should not lay our hope on and seek refuge from people who are in power for they, too, have their share of problems in life and are limited in what they can provide. Instead, we should recognize God and seek refuge in Him for our troubles and worries. Through the power of prayer we received God's enlightenment and comfort in our lives in times of crisis, whenever we have troubles, sorrows, depression and also in times of extreme need. This is the kind of devotion that God should also see in His servants in these last days. Let us find comfort in God through prayer.

Prayer is the best thing that i have in this world. I believe that it can do all things mostly that the Lord allow to give. You know why i said this because there are lot of things happened esp. to our kids when they are still a baby or a small child. It happened like this, One time my son was very sick and he has a high temp, almost got the highest level of the thermometer and it is for 24hrs. I gave him all the remedy the best that i can but still fever do not subside. Until one of my cousin came with my brother in the middle of the night living far from us. My father on that time was still alive and my bro too (now they are at peace),so we gathered around formed a circle to pray over my son. All of us prayed for his recovery. To add more we are living at a very far barrio cannot be reached by a doctor easily when emergencies happen. So we gathered around and started to pray. During that time i was not really convinced because i didn't yet truly understood the faith they have my faith so doubtful well i followed what they did. Prayed and still praying with closed eyes but mine are open. Trying to do what they are doing until when i closed my eyes i saw a small bird with a leaf on his mouth flying towards us. And, i slowly open my eyes.. its a amazing i saw a man wearing brown clothes of St. Francis de Assissi walking passed near to us. And at that time my son's fever subsided from 40.2 to 38 and never to raised again until normal with like there is nothing happens. And all of this are by the power of prayer and faith from our heart that there is the existing help from God. From then on, i really turn into Him fully and there are lots of things happened more but by deep praying and believing... it works, Praise God Almighty. This is how my faith works in my life as individual; have a nice day friends!

A miracle, no matter how slim the chance of it occuring is, will come through the power of many people. Prayer is one of the best way to gather everyone power in one single location, therefore, increasing the chance of a miracle.
