Pilot: How Did He Know about His Super-Speed without Knowing His Alien Origin?

I saw the pilot-episode yesterday (ahhh ... mem`brys 
), and was a little puzzled over the fact that--although it WAS the episode in which John Kent 'revealed' to Clark that he was an alien--Clark Kent and dad had a discussion about 'why Clark Kent couldn't try out for the football team' ("You know why!" "But I promise I'll be careful!" etc. etc.)
How had John and Martha explained his powers before that? Why didn't they stick to that explanation ... at least until AFTER he finished high school (which it seems like they did in the movie, so that Clark/Kalel could spend the required years at Crystal Palace University)?

I would think that if you could run that fast, you would just discover it as a kid. Kids love to run. You don't need to know anything else about yourself to discover super speed, and he certainly wouldn't need to suspect that he was an alien. He could have been a mutated human like in X men! Or just a really freaky fast kid.

well if he has these kind of superpowers then one must keep this a secret as it could lead him into danger and to know more about your question you should watch smallville season 1 again and you can watch it here http://download-smallville-episodes.edogo.com/

That's another split between the original movies and the tv-show: Didn't he go through a lot of the basic lessons from his father WHILE HE WAS FLYING FROM KRYPTON TO EARTH?
