I have gardened all my life. When I was a little kid my siblings and I each had our own spaces in Mom's garden. I have been lucky thru life to have mostly lived where I could have a garden and some flowers. I have had medical problems in the last few years as I get older though and have had to cut down on my garden space. The past couple of years I have only grown tomatoes, as I realy enjoy fresh home grown ones. I still have lots of perennial flowers and roses to look after, though, so try to keep as active as I can outside in the summers. Have others of you found that you have had to downsize gardening because of age or other reasons? It's tough to do, isn't it?

I have brought down the growing of seasonal flowers to almost a zero, which needs a lot of attention and care. I have a big garden which has lots of fruit trees, perennial bushes, a manageable lawn on the terrace, some roses and a lot of crotons. I am happy with what I see and this keeps me merrily on my toes with help from my gardener who is quite hard working. We used to have vegetables but we had problems when there was excess of them knowing not what to do with them. We have now stopped growing vegetables.

i have bad knees and other health issues and while i never was a hard core gardener, i like to see flowers and have fresh veggies but i know what you mean. my mom on the other hand is very hard core and at 73 still goes out and gardens! i think if you pace yourself, it helps.
