Other than Hollywood films, I've always been a fan of Hong Kong cinema. There's a ton of good Hong Kong movies. You'll either find dubbed and/or subbed ones. Their films have amazing stories and ideas. I don't know if you can find these but here are HK films I'd like to suggest: - Love On A Diet (romantic comedy/drama, really nice story) - Everyday is Valentine (romantic comedy) - City Hunter (Jackie Chan, comedy + action) - Shaolin Soccer (comedy, this was released worldwide so I think it's easy to find) - Three (a trilogy of horror stories from Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong) Also, here are non-HK films I'd like to suggest to: - The Way Home (Korean, story of a brat who spent vacation with his grandma and somehow became more kind) - Anatomy 1 and/or 2 (German, thriller about a hospital. I liked 2 better) These are just a few of the non-Hollywood movies that I like. I hope you get to like some of them too.

It depends what kind of movie you like. While the international cinema continues to be dominated by Hollywood, great movies are made in many countries. But of course there is a difference between Classic movies and Modern. Many classic movies were British; such as the Ealing comedies: it was a golden age. Europe has been producing very strong movies now for more than a decade; but then again, it depends of the genres you like; but many European movies have been remade by Hollywood which is a mark of real success. And there is Classic French cinema, and European cinema in general. World cinema has never had a higher profile, and through the internet there is unprecedented access to international cinema. You could join a DVD club. The one I'm a member of has a very large selection of World Cinema movies; and with a certain package, you can watch many movies for free with the package. Good luck, and happy movie hunting!

Well if you don't mind watching movies in a foreign language I would say check out the Italian movies "Il Postino" and "Malena" both excellent for vastly different reasons even though both have a romantic element. And if you don't mind watching older movies I would say check out the Ealing classics from the UK such as "Passport to Pimlico", "Whisky Galore" and "The Ladykillers".

If you are fond of Korean movies and dramas, or Thai movies, I think you should try and watch it. I like most of the Korean dramas and movies I watched and liking this movies depends on the genre of movies that you like to watch.
