How to stop procrastinating

See, I had one third of my research paper done, handwritten, but I lost it. I can't seem to get myself to continue working. I am disorganized, and I procrastinate all the time, always doing things at the last second. What do you think I should do? a. Skip the first part of the paper until I'm done with the rest, and see if it shows up. b. Look for it. c. Do other productive things. d. Just waste time. e. Rewrite the first part. I seem to keep opting for d. Plus, people seem to always be distracting me!

Personally, I'd go with (E). Just write it and get it over and done with. As for procrastination. Yes, there are many times I've done the same thing and then to be freaking out trying to get it done at the last minute. In fact, I did that last week. It's terrible, but we all do it at least some of the time. I'm very disorganized, and I am constantly searching for things. I think a lot of people are and this, unfortunately, leads to unnecessary stress in our lives ... but we still do it. Why? I don't have a clue. Your best option is to do the paper and then get yourself orgainzed. Whether or not you chose to do so is up to you. ;)

If it were me, I would start with A, then B.. then E. With D thrown in there quite a bit! I've always found that if I set aside time for things, I get them done. When I wanted to write a paper or something, I would set aside two hours for it. I would be like, okay, from 6-8pm, I'm going to write this paper. Usually worked for me.

i know it would not be as easy as finding the exact words and thoughts you'd put in your first attempt, but i suggest you start rewriting. doing the others in your list will not help in any way.

Procrastinating is something that we push aside until it comes back to haunt us again. Waiting to to do something is just a way of setting something on the backburner until we are left with no choice but to confront. Accepting the challenge right away makes it an easier burden to bear.

Your problem is not in writing, but in remembering where you put it. So before you go through A to E, why not set up a place to keep the notes you have written and make it a point to leave the notes there each time you are done. Frankly, options (a), (b) and (e) is OK unless you feel the research paper is not worth your effort or time. If you feel that way, why bother to start in the first

Just rewrite the first part. It would be easier this time because you already have ideas when you wrote the missing one. Just think of it as a chance to improve the content of what you lost. Rewriting is more efficient than searching because you may spend hours searching for something that may not be there anymore. Procrastination and being disorganized is a sickness to students and for those who are employed. You can improve organization by always repeating this mantra "A place for Everything, and Everything in its place" That is my work mantra and it helped me out alot as a nurse. For procrastination, always remind yourself that rest periods are alot easier to enjoy if your not thinking of anything. :D.

What you might expect me to say: I'll give you an answer tomorrow. Seriously, I can relate to the problem of procrastination. When I procrastinate, I fall behind and that puts a lot of pressure on me. The habit of procrastination must be some kind of curse. Regarding your question - If you remember what you have written in the first third well enough, and if there is some chance of finding it, then continue with the last two thirds. If this does not work, bite the bullet and start over. The 'do other productive things' is a sneaky one, because it allows us to procrastinate the more important tasks, while doing some lesser things.

hi rose just use e rewrite the first part and go on from there. If you waste time searching for it you will end up wasting yet more time. start from scratch and keep it in a safe place for goodness sakes. After the paper is written and typed then you can go to D with a free spirit. project is done and finished and over with hurrah.

With me it is impossible. No matter how much I try those activities that I can live without but still need to be done will be kept pending until they go out of hand
