Can a blackberry get a virus?

I recently bought a blackberry. I am super happy that I bought it and I use it everyday. I have downloaded quite a few apps and go online with the blackberry daily. I was wondering if they can get viruses since computers can. I searched this online and most places said either no or that it was extremely difficult to get a virus on a blackberry. Which is a good thing! I also asked a friend of mine that has the android phone and she said she asked someone and told her no. So I was wondering what everyone's opinions and experiences are with this? Should I be careful about going on the internet and searching, or downloading apps. I wouldn't think you could get a virus on it too easily. I just don't want to think my phone is invisible to viruses and it get one, and I have to buy a new one. For one they are on the expensive side.

When you download applications in your blackberry go to blackberry apps. It is safer to make free downloads there and i don't think there's such thing as a virus in smart phones or androids. All people use computers and get viruses from that because companies can earn so much if they create a virus hahaha. But in phones, not all people use smartphones and androids, and i don't think making a virus is worth enough of their time. Don't worry about getting a virus on your blackberry. I've been downloading apps and never got a virus at all. I love my BB.

If you can download an app, you can download a virus. Essentially, they are the same thing, a program written to run on your Blackberry. Having said that, your Blackberry is still relatively safe from virus today because hackers are more interested in iPhone. LOL

Hi there, I own mine for two years now and at first I too wondered because there really isn't a virus application for phones. I searched online and what I found was that although it is plausible we should not worry about getting a virus. I also called my provider and they told me they had never heard of anyone getting a virus on their blackberry. I open emails and search the net on mine and have it for two years with no problems and or threats to date. I also use the download application to get free apps and nothing yet.

I have to say that I am not completely sure, but people told me that you can get viruses on your Androids at least, but luckily they are pretty rare, so it doesn't happen very often. But if you are unlucky, it could definitely happen! So be careful, like when you use the internet in general, just to be on the safe side.

I am not completely sure but I think it's possible. If you can download and install softwares, then it's possible for virus to get in. Besides, it seem like they can make virus for anything lately so there's nothing really safe. But that just my unprofessional opinion.

I think it's possible for any electronic to get a virus. All it takes is the wrong download or worm to enter into it. I saw a thing on the news where people were taking over cell phones and using the camera function amongst other things. I don't think there is any safe electronic out there.

You should be careful in downloading apps to your mobile, ask for any trusted sites because there is a big possibilty that your phone will have viruses. i think all gadgets are prone to have these, you should consult to a mobile expert so that your phone will have an antivirus app.
