The lakers are heavily favored to win this year's NBA title and give phil jackson his fourth 3-peat.as the bettings start to unfold, questions also start to surface as to how near they are to reaching that goal. I will raise my opinion regarding this matter. The lakers will likely end up in just a 2-peat. One of the reasons is the fact that a lot of teams have become legitimate contenders for the title.miami, chicago, boston, new york and orlando have all upgraded their line up with the bulls leading the pack of these beasts of the east.spurs, mavs and thunder have been good teams as well.another reason is the fact that teams already have an antidote to the tall but slow frontline of the lakers.i saw that antidote when the blazers defeated the lakers with their up tempo style of game.bynum and gasol were left behind by shorter but quicker players of the blazers.lastly, this one reason is i think will have the most bearing against the lakers.this important factor, should i say,is the homecourt advantage.right now,the spurs and the bulls have a homecourt advantage over the lakers.when the game is evenly played,a home advantage spells the difference of who gets the better of the calls from the referees.that could be a game changer.we saw that last year when the lakers,in their homecourt, defeated the celtics in game 7 of the NBA finals.history will also tell you that during the time when boston won the championship against the lakers in the 2007 NBA finals,it was boston who had a homecourt advantage.
