Will this crap never end? Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY)is now claiming that Tea Party republicans were elected to kill women. Yes, that is NOT an exaggeration. She literally said "they are here to kill women". She also said that not providing federal funds for abortions is the same as being a Nazi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjvyj__P2Ag&feature=share

All of the Republicans ought to bring suit against her for slander. That would make all of them think twice about what they say against each other. Someone has to make this stop. All the finger pointing and name calling, did we elect a bunch of sixth graders? In fact, I think that's a great idea! Can we sue them for slander? no? Darn. Ok...if we can't do that, we should remind her that a certain member of HER party in Wisconsin actually did threatened to kill a woman.

You mean thats not why they were elected? As a woman, I am offended by this statement. Do they really NOT see how ridiculous they look with these analogies? And it begs the question, how is stopping funding for something that wasnt already funded, being a nazi?

It certainly doesn't have to make sense to say it. The most important thing is that they say it!

Rep. Slaughter is one of those members of Congress whose name I know and who I see in the news from time to time but other than that I know little about. I'm certainly not going to defend her for using that type of language. There are ways to disagree, even very STRONGLY disagree with someone or something without using these kinds of references. As far as I'm concerned, Nazi and Hitler comparisons and references should be limited to Nazis and Hitler and a very small group of other very evil people or groups. Invoking them every time one disagrees with someone else is a slap in the face to Holocaust survivors and the families of its victims. I know that wasn't the "only" thing Hitler or the Nazis stood for but let's face it, whenever their names are mentioned that's the first if not the only thing that comes to mind for most people. Harry Reid pretty much said the same thing the other day without the Nazi reference. I really don't care if they toss the label "Nazi" around, but the interpretation of the GOP stand on fiscal responsibility as existing only to kill women is ridiculous and well, it's the language of desperation. Back a liberal into a logical corner and they start telling you in impassioned terms just how many children, women, minorities, etc., will die as a result of ANY cut in spending. There isn't one spending cut they can believe in - well, except defense spending and that's going to be harder when their president is conducting three wars. Harry Reid bemoaned the fate of cowboy poetry. No cut can be supported, someone somewhere won't get some money for something. However, we should take heart. It is the language of desperation as I said. If they weren't in danger of losing so much - dollars spent mean votes for them - they wouldn't resort to such emotionally-charged threats and predictions.

Did Rep. Slaughter really say that Tea Party Republicans were elected to kill women? I consider myself an independent and because Republican candidates are more likely to run on a conservative platform than Democrats, I probably would be considered a Republican. Although I have never been to any Tea Party events, I would very much like to be able to go to some of them. As far as the issue of abortion is concerned, I believe that once a child has been conceived, he or she should be allowed to be born and given every opportunity to live the life that God has ordained that he or she should live. Does the Constitution not guarantee the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? If so, it seems to me that the right to be born is guaranteed under the Constitution.
