i have seen in lot of discussions that some people give lengthy(i mean it, REAL LENGTHY! 15-20 lines) where a few line would be good enough to explain what they are coming to say! also, i dont mean that all the lengthy responses are worthless.. some are real good and are necessary.. but a lot are not! some people dont even care about the punctuations, so that it is so hard to read and understand what they are coming to say! they just blindly type something lengthy.. Why do they do that? to earn more money? why dont they care a little about quality too!

Yeah, this bothers me a little bit too. You can tell who is leaving a good, lengthy response and who is just repeating themself for space. My responses may not be a story, but I still feel like I'm getting my point across. Even though I may not make as much money, I'd rather not waste my time and other people's time.

I think this is one of the reason, we are from different countries and we have different ways to share what's in our minds and to add a different way of how we are using the English language. So i guess what is important is that we are trying to share what is in our minds. So for me be it short or long responses as long as there is a substance in it then it should be acceptable.

I know that some may be like me, who when they get on a subject they get side tracked so it makes the response more lengthy. I try to stay on point in discussions, share my opinion, but also tell my own story if I have one that relates to the topic in which they are discussing. The whole thing with punctuation, I don't really mind it because I know that I am not a perfect with grammer. I also know that there are many people on here, that english is not their first language so often times they are unsure how to spell things.

Although I admit one of the reasons I'm here is to earn money, I wouldn't sacrifice quality for quantity. It's quite painful to read a long response that's just beating around the bush. I remember when I was in college. My classmate was complaining to the teacher why her work has a low grade while her paper has many pages. The teacher said it's not about how long the work is, it's about the content. The teacher used my paper as an example of quality over quantity work. Anywho, even if length = money here, it feels better to post something not as long as that but is well thought and well written.

I hate long responses as well. But i have been told a lot to keep my responses good in length or they are not even counted. Anyways i will keep my response short or i might frustrate you and you wont even read it :)

I agree with you that there are people whose responses are really lenghty and that length isn't always necessary;I know that it's important not to give very short answers on mylot,so I try to express my ideas coherently and and at a reasonable length.Sometimes new ideas come to my mind as I'm writing and I try to integrate them in a text, but I still don't think I've given such a long answer yet.I suppose people who write responses which are longer than necessary in that context really think they will earn more for a few extra lines, which is all right for me as long as they don't repeat themselves and become boring.

Each person will give different lengths of responses, some long some short, and others in between. I have done that too, and I hope that my responses haven't turned others off from wanting to read them. I just happen to be the type of person that it takes me a little longer to get the point across than others. Most of the time I don't make my responses all that lhat long though, as I want to make them short enough to have substance and yet have meaning to them as well. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Given the above responses, I guess I'm just too patient. There have been some long 'uns. But we don't all play in the same yard so we're not all meticulously concise with our comments. And I've oftentimes found myself with multiple perspectives and like to define them all to avoid confusion. Granted, there are prattlers and they can be a bother, at times, but, as said, I may be too patient. Enjoy!

Well there are a lot of people who get really into this stuff, and then there are people who are in it purely for the money. I guess when you have money on your mind you're not thinking about what anybody else thinks...:/
