do you wear a black strip pin when there is death in the family?
i wonder if this is done elsewhere in the world? but i always see some people here in the philippines wearing such plastic on their shirts like a brooch... it tells people that they recently had a death in the family... but does it mean more than letting everyone know about it?
i wonder what its tru purpose is? when my grandfather died we did not wear any of those, i guess we did not follow any beliefs relating to death in the family??

as i noticed it also..... why? hehehe
especially in the Philippine Provinces, where after the burial, all of the people will wash their hands in the big bowl of water filled with guava leaves in order to ward-off bad luck hehehehe

yes in my culture we have to wear some black color cloth pin on our sleeves, however, this sign of mourning is out dated as young generation don wish to wear and said it is nonsense and such old folk tales and hence abandon. However it depends on situation if there is big family gathering then have to wear especially the sons, while the grandson usually no need.

In our province people usually use the black pin to signify that you are in mourning. Sometimes they even wear white cloth around their foreheads. They often wear black shirts. They are traditions that has gone from one generations to another. Well it is practiced in my family as well specially with the older generations. But I really don't see the point in following them just to show your grief.
