We all know government spends too much money.. and wastes too much money. What is the answer? Raise taxes? Make government bigger? or Look over and cut back government expansion, spending and waste? What do you think will work out best? For us? and for those after us?

actually were not creating a monster ,were already had a monster specially those who had abusing their power. For instance those policemen in the Philippines, who blackmailed those drivers, motorist and citizen of the country whenever they wanted to make have a violation of an innocent citizen they can make...Another example of that those corrupted people in the position they held in government...In Filipino they called it "BUWAYA" crocodile who eat anything they want.

The cut backs in government would obviously be best, but they're the ones in charge so what's the likelihood that the dragon will cut off its own head? Bring on changes thru voting? I've lost faith in that as well. Voting is simply a dog and pony show for those naive enough to think it matters. I think decisions are made beforehand, then the circus comes to town. The politicians do their song and dance and everyone is fooled by the ruse into believing their opinion brought the result. So what can we do? How about renaming Washington D.C. Hiroshima...hmm.. Ejoy!

Hopefully all could and will begin to see beyond all the hype, drama, and blame game which is nothing more than campaigning.. I think we have never ending campaigning. Perhaps we should quit listening to the media outlets and what they present as the story, and listen to the debates about what should be done, on our own and think logically where each policy will/would take us. And vote accordingly. I think there is far too much mob mentality when it comes to thinking over suggested policy and which way this country should move; toward ever expanding government, or cutting it back now before it's too late and it truly comes true for our kids that voting is a sham. I think lately when one 'side' doesn't like how the people voted, they start an uproar blaming the voting as flawed!

I don’t think there is any hope of deliverance for those of us who are outside the Govt. From what I read here in mylot, all Govts the world over are thought of as corrupt, incapable and indulgent by their own people. Here in India too, its no different. No matter how much the cost of commodities increase for the common people, govt always insulates its employees by giving a raise twice a year. Secondly, govt provides lot of extra facilities to its employees and as we know, nothing comes free. Thirdly, govt never reduces its own size or its own remuneration. Political parties cutting across lines, agree on one thing…their members need more and more pay hike and freebies. And in a democracy we all know how important it is to keep everybody happy…so no govt would risk its neck by cutting down expenses of its own parliamentary members or bureaucracy or its own employees. They are the cream of the working class and we the others pay our taxes thru our noses so that they can be kept happy and pampered.

Cut out everything that benefits anyone. I know that sounds awful but if we would give the states the powers that the feds have stolen from them, everyone would be better off. We don't need a federal food stamp program--it's so big that it's no wonder it's rife with corruption and fraud. We don't need a dept of education--it merely takes money from states and doles it out for schools as gov't sees fit and listens to special interests. This is just two examples--if the states had control of these fed programs we would have a lot of competition. Some states would boom while others would realize they have to improve or lose residents. They'd run themselves like businesses and prosper. As for SS and Medicare, that would have to be gradual and I agree with Paul Ryan that anyone 55 or older right now would get what they paid in for while others had better scramble and make some intelligent plans for their retirement and quit spending everything they make. The problem is that in 30 years we'll still have people on SS and no workers paying in to support them. So while it sounds great on paper I'm not sure it would be a good thing. But SS and Medicare have to be dealt with, and soon. Of course, SS wouldn't be in such trouble if the feds didn't raid the nonexistent "lock box" that they lied to us about. We should stop gov't pilfering immediately and impose jail sentences on the offenders. Moving money from one program to another is nothing more than embezzlement and you can bet that there is someone that's making money off OUR tax money when this is done. Can you tell I'm mad?

I think many are.. and are labeled as, well, everything and anything evil and bigoted against everyone, with the majority of media supporting that attitude. Half the country is in a mad dash toward all powerful gov and collapse, but thank goodness lots of everyday people keep the topic alive, or there'd be nothing in the way preventing it.. - Why is it so hard to understand federal government has gotten waay out of control and we are no longer a federalist nation, which is the only thing that will save us.

Make up a group like auditors that are formed for each of the departments that go in and (either under cover or other wise) to see how to revamp each of them. Sure this will cost some bucks BUT I think it will help imeasurably in the long run. None of them are working that efficiently and I think they need to be redone.

Government officials are the ones in-charge of these matters and they knew what they're doing. As a citizen of the country, we have our own shares of burden when it comes to taxes and that, the government officals were doing their job to the best of their abilities, knowledge, experiences and ethics. We cannot say "The government sends too much money," How do you know that they're sending too much money? If you're a government official on the budget division, then maybe, you know the spending, if that's only a "hearsay" better not to say or ask question about it. they have the right to spend that on projects which they think can help us on our lives. Better, to work out with your thoughts, you have to be a government official so that you could carry your positive thoughts into the whole nation.

The first thing government should do is cut how they spend...do you know the government will spend $10,000.00 for a toilet? A toilet...!! Why? They spend $250.00 for a box of writing pens.... ..how much could they save just by spending what we spend? Multiply a box of pens times how many government offices are there in the U.S.?

In my opinion everything well turn out wonderful for us if all who are in the government are not greedy and selfish, and their true motives and intentions are to serve the people for the benefit of the people and not just to get gain and to be popular by the people...
