Something notice in the action movies in out country, the camera's either shakes a lot or there are slow motion camera tricks to make the scene looks cool but its pathetic, In Hong Kong action flicks, The fight choreography is fast and doesn't rely much of camera effects, In case of Hollywood, its all computer effects.
Our country is not the worst in fight scenes though, for I had seen the worst but I was never impressed with the fight choreography in our local action movies.
I think its one of the reason why we dont have much action movies anymore and our local action movies flops.
In case of Hollywood they use special effects and but I still dont think they were the best with fightscenes, Its still Hong Kong that is superior in that area.
From what i heard, In hong Kong, an actor or actress will train for months or sometimes a year to practice. In our country I guess sits only few days.
I dont know if the real problem is budget since the old Hong Kong flicks are low budget but the fightscenes are better than Hollywood it self.

aside from the fightscenes, the over all plots of our action movies are kinda cheesy.

I think it still depends on the movie director.
For example, if you see Peque Gallaga's movies like Oro, Plata, Mata and Wakwak, these movies have well-choreographed gunbattles/fighting scenes.

As a Filipino, I observed that too, the cheesy way in which our movies were made. I think, people in the movie industry like; actors, actresses, directors, producers, extras...knows about it, but still, they continue to participate into the making of such low-budgeted movie. So, how can a Filipino movie be a good movie in terms of international standards? Even them - the producers - were trying to controlled the budget of a movie project? There's no development in that case, and never we can make movie into the international scene that we can call good Filipino movie. I think it depends on the audience...but for me, people who patronize the so-so Filipino movies are.....

we did excell though in heavy drama movies, thats our entries in international festivals. but yeah our action movies are always lacklaster. I dotn really think budget makes an action movie. I mean the old Hong Kong Kung-fu movies are low budget. Maybe if the actor or actress is willing to train for a year for every single scene, it may work. I think if our movie producers have a budget for an action movie, they will rely on special effects instead of trying to workshop the actor to do fight scenes. I hate the camera slow motions....

I don't like ur action scenes too- they're just to slow for me and sometimes annoying because the goons just stand there not even fighting back. I love Jackie Chan's action scenes too since it's realistic and awesome. And yes, Hollywood just does everything with the computers to make their action scenes look so much better and has all these exploding things for added effect, it looks really nice too. I hope our country would have better fight scenes..
