Hello Lotters,
I Know a lot of Depositors from bangco filipino had felt dismayed for what has happened for the bank and it's employees. so sad that they lost their deposit there and PDIC have started reimbursing those deposits that are below five thousand pesos or more than one hundred dollars.
Unfortunately, It seems one depositor couldn't believe what happened that he decided to commit suicide using a 45 caliber gun.relatives from the said person mentiond that his two hundred thousand pesos or four thousand dollars deposit is qualified reimbursement.
So, be careful with banks whom you people want to save money. make sure it has a strong financial standing.
Have a Nice day.

I guess everyone has a different way of handling stress, some could just let it go while others cannot let it go easily. The problem is that some would let go of their lives because they can't see anything beyond the problem they are facing. Is it their fault? I don't think so. I guess we can't blame them if they cannot cope.
As for investing only in companies that are stable, you can't really say. There have been a lot of companies which have been existing over 100years which are forced to shut down due to economic factors - therefore, we can't really be sure which is stable and which is not.

Geez...That is not nice to hear that someone has taken his life because of money…That is very sad indeed. You would think that any bank would be stable and secure but this story reminds us that it is not necessarily so. The major banks here in Australia report astronomical profits every year and they charge astronomical fees to match so they are unlikely to close down as they are getting very rich by ripping us off. Money is not worth your life though...

i heard the news on tv and am saddened by it. the amount was pretty big and i think the man really needs the money for the family. I hope banco filipino will process their remibursements fast because a lot of people or depositirs are needing their money. I hope other people will not act like this man and still be strong in times of crisis and uncertainty.

Hi Letran, although I don't really know what happened at the bank there, it's really unfortunate to hear this type of news. It's sad that there are still scams out there and people are being tricked.

So sorry that this had happened, I heard the news from the AM radio this morning. I remember that the PDIC is starting to process reimbursements to depositors up to P500,000, why can't he wait for it to come to him. There must be other reasons not only that this. Well, let's just wait for the result of the investigation.

Agree. Most of us believe bank is the safest place for us to put our money but don't forget if anything happen to the bank. We might lose our hard earn money.
I will never put all my money in same bank. I will put my money in different bank. Touch wood, anything happen to the specific bank, i still have money in other banks.

It's sad that he did not wait PDIC to return his money and ended up like this
It is also good to deposit to other bank not just one bank and make sure that your money is below half million .

i think that stupid way to take.... yeah, i know that finding that money is not easy... they cant overwhelm their stress... but if we still alive, we can try again to find that money again. take another chance to get up again.. at least we are not leaving our family behind..

I feel sorry for that man who lost his life for money. There is more to life here on earth than money. Maybe he was to attached to material things that he chose to end his life when he lost his hard-earned possession. He could have gained it over again but not his life.We should bear in mind that paradise is not here on Earth but in Heaven. It was a trial for him and he failed.

That is just so terrible that he took his life over someone elses financial mistake. I try to keep my money in a very safe and trusted place. Nothing is too secure these days though.

How sad and horrible! I can't imagine why anyone would kill themselves over losing money, there must have been something else awful going on in his life and that was the last straw.
Money is nothing--it comes and goes and we can always get more one way or another. It is not a treasure to agonize over.
Here in the U.S. our banks and credit unions are insured. Of course, that won't mean much when the economy crashes soon like it did in 1929 but any other reason and our money is safe.

I am quite sad when I read this. How can he be so depressed that he can earn it all over again if he want to? Money isn't everything but love is most important.

Whatever the reason is or what the circumstances are, I do not think any amount of money is worth any person's life, just too bad or too tragic for people who take or lose their lives because of financial loses, very unthinkable for me.
