Mismatched socks

Fashion trends come and go. What is popular now may not be so popular tomorrow. What we discarded long ago seems to make a comback as something new. Years ago if you wore a pair of mismatched socks, there would be someone eager to point it out to you. Now wearing mismatched socks is a fashion statement. How do you feel about wearing mismatched socks?

Well, I guess maybe it is where I live at, but I have never really seen this a trend and would think too many people would be ones to point this out. I know I have actually done this before by accident, but it is not a Habit I choose to make. Must be because of my age, but personally I would find this a little odd if I seen someone who was doing this all the time.

I think it might really be interesting to have a pair of socks that represented a combined picture on both. It would actually take a lot of looking to figure it out. I collect socks so having this would like mismatched socks but if you really look they are actually a pair!

New designs in fashion have to start somewhere. Why can't socks be a part of that scene! thank you for the comment.

sender if I see someone with mismatched socks I only think they 'have a gremlin in their washing machine like I used to have that eat up half of each pair of socks. well a fashion trend would sure solve the problem of finding the mates. lol lol

Hi! Just a few years ago, before this came out, I saw someone wearing mismatched socks and she actually rocked it. She wore them like its so casual of her. At that time, I never thought it would actually look cool. Nowadays, I see others trying to pull this off, but I somehow don't feel like they look cool, or nice or cute. I think it depends on the person wearing them. However, personally, I'm not one of those who are gifted in pulling off trends, so I stick to matched socks, or no socks at all. :P

A lot of it has to do with personality and style. It just isn't something that everyone can carry off.

I do wear mismatch socks and I like it. I feel that I am different to others, so I have to be different, too. This mismatch socks trend has not come to Indonesia, when it comes maybe I have to wear different shoes...

I'm wearing a mismatched slippers! And one time, my friend told me, "Oooops, your slippers....Oh, style, I'm sorry, I thought..uum, Hahaha! Nice.." But I don't think I can try it with the socks. Maybe if I'm going to wear it with rubber shoes and long pants so it will be unnoticeable.

This can provide a funny moment. we can do something on purpose and someone else will feel embarrassed and apologetic to notice.

I saw other trends that are mismatched like shoelaces and even shoes. I don't know what has happened now to our fashion. It's almost going nowhere of sense.

I would certainly not wear odd socks and if I saw someone else do it it would disturb my sense of equilibrium. My friend often wears odd sock and that is so annoying to me. Normally, I would not even be aware because he wears boots but when he comes inside he takes the boots off. I don't know why such petty things annoy me so badly but that's just how I am. If the socks were colourful and interesting and the person was young and attractive it might be a cute look but hardly practical or appropriate for anything except kids dress-up.

I can see how weaaring a pair of mismtched socks could throw you off balance. It might not be something that you were expecting. i think some mismatched socks look good together while others look like you were trying too hard.

If I wear mismatched socks, nobody usually notices as the ones I buy are all black. If someone were to look very closely they might see a difference in design, but without kneeling down and studying my feet, it isn't obvious that I might have odd socks on. The reason why I buy them all black is because some years ago I got bored with putting different coloured pairs of socks into the washing machine, then having to sort them all out once the washing cycle was over. It just makes life easier for me to buy them all black now.

You might notice as quickly to see a mismatched sock when it is a dark color. if it was by accident, you may be the only one to see. if it wasn't an accident, you could be starting your own way of fashion. thank you for responding to this discussion.

Hi,sender621! Nah,I won't do that even if it's a fashion nowadays.Besides,I haven't heard anything about it being a fashion. My friends will simply point it out if I wear mismatched socks. There is one Japanese teacher here who is very funny and different from others though. He always wears a pink coat and short pants and mismatched socks, one red,one blue. The students all love him.

LOL just the day before my aunt wore mismatched socks to her work. She never found it out until she was back home. I laughed my butt out. She didn't do it intentionally though, it was a mistake. To be honest, I haven't seeen anyone wearing mismatched socks. I don't think it's a trend in our country.

Sometimes two colors will look so much alike that we don't notice that they are different when we put them on. Sometimes we may be the only ones to see it.

Hmmm..I don't know if this would count but, I wear 2 converse for each foot. I wear black for the left foot and pink on the right foot. As far as I know, me and my gf are just the people around that wear shoes like this. But I hope it wouldnt be a fashion statement coz we want to be different than everyone else.. =D Now that you mention it, I think I like to mismatch my socks as well.. =D

I've always worn odd socks, ever since I was little. I like having funky socks, and wearing mismatching ones gives me a chance to show off two pairs at once! I think, to be fair, the fact that dobby in Harry Potter also believes in odd socks, probably helped this habit to stick, since the books were a big part of my growing up, and probably came at a time when I would have otherwise started wearing mismatching socks.

There is nothing wrong with showing off a little bit of your personality and style. if wearing a pair of mismatched socks is a place to start, then we should encourage and not discourage.

All I really have to say is: www.littlemissmatched.com I cannot miss match my socks, it would drive me insane, my niece does it though and has been doing it since she could dress her self. Every fashion goes through cycles, since right now we're in a sort of 80's style.

well I have seen also a shirt worn inside out, even finger nails each painted differently. The trend today if seen way back is a crazy fashion, however with a mismatched socks I think it is ok for you can recycle the old one and the lost one of a pair. And it depends, how it is being carried and who carries, if an old person or young ones. I think the youngs will look less awkward than the oldies.

Age should not have limitations on style and fashion. I think that society has a way of making it an issue and an obstacle.
