What you miss most in Sims 3?

I began playing sims with sims 2... I slowly took to playing the game with all its expansions and most of its stuff packs. I loved playing sims 2 with its apartments and building of shops and skills on workstations like sewing etc. I took up challenges available on TSR which made the game even more interesting.
Then from the last year or so I have been addicted to Sims 3. I instantly loved it because of its story progression. But then as I played more of it, I missed many things from sims 2. Like the seasons, pets and then building shops to sell all the things you actually make. I missed building apartments. Though because of late night we do have penthouses but its still not the same as the apartment life from sims 2. I also miss that inviting the principal to send your child to a private school and many more things. I miss the university life and living life of the students. I wanted to play all that with story progression from sims 3. It would have seemed so nice
What do you all miss from sims 2 and would want it back as a stuff pack or expansion for sims 3

There are two things that I really, badly miss, in Sims 3.
The first, is the university stuff. I thought that was the best expansion pack, and I wish they'd release it for sims 3, it was my favourite.
The other, is the ability to start with an empty neighbourhood. Why sims 3, why? I hate having to start with a pre-designed neighbourhood, and I've had no luck whatsoever with the Create-A-world too, which is ridiculously frustrating.

Everything! I miss the ease at which I could load a terrain from SimCity4 and build an entire city from scratch. Building was my main interest, but there are a lot of limits and/or obstacles involved now. I also lost a little bit of control. Like, I enjoy that the whole neighborhood progresses, but there are times when I have a favorite family and focus on them for a while. Then I miss out on the lives of everyone else. I miss when expansions had sub-neighborhoods so that I didn't have to drop everything just to see new content. I could make a long, whiny list but if I have to narrow it down... I miss the University expansion.

I agree with everyone. Sims 3 is lacking. Does not have the Flair at all and makes me wish I would have never bought it. I think it would be exciting if they could put a New version out with all 3 entangled to where you could play with all 3 versions and do things. Sims 1 had some great things in it along with 2 where Sims 3 really is lacking. Makes you wonder.

I miss the open for business expansion pack. I loved having my own business. My sims not only had a restaurant but they also had their own home appliance store. I loved that I could work the hours that I wanted because I could open or close the store whenever I liked. This really helped when my sims didnt feel like working. I also loved the pets expansion pack. I really miss it although I hear its coming back in oct for sims 3! I am so excited! Ea just announced it a couple of days ago. :)

I agree.. I really do miss the Open for Business expansion myself. I really loved making those things with clay like pots and cups etc or stitching designs and selling it myself. I also miss Apartment life. Though you do have penthouses in the sims 3 but it is still not the same.
I am excited too for Pets expansion coming to Sims 3. Cant wait for Open for business and apartment life to come too.

What I really miss is the robot out of the first or second addon for sims 1! I don't get why they hadn't put it in Sims2 or Sims3. It was much funnier just to concentrate on earning money with your sims and build a super luxurious house :) And I miss the old starting sims from sims2 in sims3 I found them as download from a fan page but it was not the same. It would be cool if they would make an addon for Sims3 with all stuff from sims1 and 2 together! It would be great if you could choose between so many things that you really need a few hours to build a house like you want and you don't need to buy something just because you haven't got the choice.
