Lately, I find myself literally dragging my feet to prepare myself for another day in the office. It's not that I am lazy but you know there is this thing called "fire" or " passion" for some may call it is no longer there. Factors like insufficient financial benefits, people that I don't want to work with anymore keeps my daily dose of vitamins that instead of health benefits triggers physical strain, stress in my well-being. This must be what they call work burnout. Now what do I need to do with this?

Time to take a breather. Have a break. If the break does not bring back that passion you have for your work, maybe it's time to think real hard if you still want to be in that job. I had a mistake once where I immediately quit my job after feeling what you're feeling. And then got another one immediately. It turns out that if I'd taken a break in that first job, I would have recuperated and got back on track.

Thanks for sharing your experience, gloryacam. It's true that we not only gain knowledge in books but also from own experience and experience of others. All responses from this discussion I started gave me a heads-up that I need to something about this problem. Otherwise may lead to a bigger problem in the future. Would you believe that I was diagnosed three weeks ago that I have a costochondritis-- or rib inflammation. And guess what is the cause?! It's physical strain or another term for Stress! I really need to think not once but several times and harder this time if my current workload and situation is worth saving. My meager salary may not be able to pay for medical bills in the future.
I really am glad I found out and now a member of mylot community where I get to communicate with folks like you. Thanks again and regards!

It helps to just get away alone, in the fresh air and sit, relax and take deep breathes, try not to think about anything all while you inhale and exhale. A good book while your away will also help to get your mind off things.

Burnout is a real psychological ailment. I will try to meet with a counselor in your job if I were you. I read in some psyche books that one way to decrease burnout is to find something that you like about your present job and stick to that positive state. Another fix maybe is to take a vacation to rest. And if it still persists your burnout maybe a sign that you may want to venture to other fields of your profession.
Hope I helped.
Welcome to mylot.
