Can you put aside the off camera trouble an actor has gotten in and see his/her movie and enjoy it? I ask because Mel Gibson has a poignant film coming out. I have read that he plays a good man suffering from depression. Can you go and see Mel play a tortured man?Or will you just see the bully he is in real life? Me? I won't support his backwards views by putting money in his pocket. I will stay away. How about you? can you put things aside and go see an actor with a bad rep in a good film?

I think that to boycott a particular actor's movie is the only real sense to give feedback to an actor. So by not watching his or her movie is the only way to let them know that we don't approve of their attitudes in real life. Because at the end of the day, it is only a movie that they are 'peddling'. And we would surely survive even if we don't see their work.

These days it is hard to ind any film I want to see. So it has been Very easy to Not watch Mr. Gibson's work. In fact the last film I saw him in was made in the mid 90's.

At one time, long before I became a complete film geek, I would have agreed and not watched a film of someone who in real life has done something I disagree with. But now I’ve realised that for every publicised issue for one star there are another 10 other issues for other stars which get hidden from the public view by PR men.
If I was to keep my stand, and take what’s reported in the press as gospel, I wouldn’t be watching any Dennis Hopper, Marlon Brando, Sean Connery, Wesley Snipes, Harry Morgan of MASH fame, Pee-wee Herman movies and many more and none of those are actors who have had extra marital affairs which if you go down that road the list is almost endless.

Well I wouldn't boycott a Harry Potter movie or a Bond movie just because he's in it, but if he's starring in something else, I almost certainly wouldn't go. Maybe if it was Academy award material and it was on a subject I was really, really interested in.

I don't really keep up with actors but he has certainly brought some negative attention his way. I am not supportive of him or his views. I haven't really thought about it until now..he hasn't been in anything for a long time has he? I don't remember if he has. No I probably wouldn't go and see him. I would probably see the person they showed on the news when I did.

I have seen Mel Gibson in alot of movies over the years. I have heard of his new movie that will be coming out. I know I won't be going to the threatre to see it! mainly becuase I have not done this in years because it has gotten so expensive! If it isn't my type of movie I won't watch when it hits the video stores either!

His movie The Passion of Christ is one memorable and good movie and worth being seen. It is actually the movie and not Mel why I watched that. I am just curious if the movie is biblical and I find it really biblical apart from some scenes that are added for cinematic effect which do not in anyway are realistic and acceptable.
Now that he is making another movie with him playing a role, I don't think I would be interested unless it is another biblical movie again. An actor has to protect his image on and off screen, otherwise he is putting his career at risk.

Knowing what he is in real life, would not want me to patronize his movies anymore. He was the one who directed The Passion of Christ, or he even was the brain of this movie. However, his attitude is very irresponsible. They said that in showbizness, good or bad publicity is still a publicity. Some people would be curious of Mel Gibson's acting after his scandal. Some would not want to see him again.
