I tell my students not to kill them, but I have murderous intentions towards them myself...
I just wonder why they didn't and wouldn't perish, if they would become extinct I would probably throw a party!!! I guess I'm exaggerating now, but why can't they leave my chocolates alone?? why do they have to inflict bites on my skin while I'm sleeping??
...and I have these little red marks in my arms and legs, jeeeez, just when it's summer time!!!

Oh, you seemed so weird to me! But as I read further I understood why you hate so much that warriors!!
We have ants here, but they don´t bit so much as yours!
A great natural repelent for any ant is lemon and clove (dried clove). Cut lemons in two, and then dig three or four cloves on them. And put the lemons with the cloves in the way of the ants. They´ll go in three days or less.
This really works and is cheap!!
Blessings!...

Ok, but really try it, you´ll be surprised. I have seen the lemons with cloves most in the ice cream shops here at my country, and I didn´t know why. Until the day that my husband´s grandmother gave me this tip to use lemons with cloves in my kitchen... and it works!
=)
Blessings!...

Ants are nice little creatures, as long as they stay out of the house and off my food. Once they become invaders, the gloves come off and it's war...

hmmn, so war has been raging in our house for quite a while now, it's a good thing were planning on remaking the house, maybe then we could find those pesky creature's nest and destroy their colony once and for all

I have nothing against red ants as long as they stay away from my territory, especially the beds at home.
Their bites really terribly hurt and more often than not they leaving an uglu mark on my skin. May children also suffers from ant's bite...

Don't even think that ants have any chance of being extinct..
In case you didnt know ants are Earth's most succesful species..
They have been living on earth for millions of years, long before the dinosaurs came...
They are also the plentiest creaures on earth..
With that in mind, I suppose you can go ahead and kill some of them..
I'm sure they wouldn't care, since they can multiply fast and easy anyway..
Protect your chocolate!!!

yeah, I know the above fact but I just wish they'd keep off my chocolates...
I do kill the red ants in my home, but I make sure I stop myself when I'm at school...children are very observant, they might have me arrested

Hi there Marapplestiffy!
I perfectly understand why you feel that way towards red ants. I have been bitted for numerous times and like you, my food has been taken by these ants. Well, I guess the best thing to do is to not leave food uncovered. We should keep them sealed or put them inside the refrigerator or something, especially chocolates.

I have an ant problem at my house which I cannot do anything about because not even an exterminator can guarantee that our house will be totally ant free for more than three months after treatment. I hate them too although the ones here do not bite thankfully. I found washing the floors, cupboards and bench tops with eucalyptus oil helps the ant traffic to slow down a little at least.

based on my experience, "red ants" are two size, the small and the big. and I think you got the small size red ants. normally I will kill the red ants if they bite me, because it my reflects to defend myself when attacked. actually I am an animal lover, even an ant, then I never kill them if there is no reason for that.

I usually tell my kids this: Brown and black ants good, red ants bad. hahaha. I'm also not a fan of red ants, to say the least. My rule is to care for all creatures big and small including ants. however, if the red ant bites (especially my kids), I would have to kill it.

i also have the same problem. it's even the problem of our whole subdivision! ants are invading all our houses! lol! if you left even a single drop of sugar, after a few seconds, you will see a bunch of red ants marching towards it. all we have to do is keep our houses free from droplets of any kind of food, sweet or not. we also use insect repellants like baygon and spray it where they are coming from. just to keep them away for a few days =)
