Life has been so hard here in the Philippines. I thought only unemployed person could experienced missing a meal in a day. But recently, a friend was crying and shared out that her earnings is not enough to buy a decent meal for the family. His husband is unemployed and recently undergoes operation due to gallbladder stone that it was difficult for him to get a permanent job. Her salary on the other hand is not even enough to pay for their debts due to some problems they encountered. Fortunately they have only 1 daughter to take care of, but then, this only one kid experience starvation when her money is only enough for transportation fees so she could go to her job. At the work area, it would be fortunate for her if her co-employees has brought more food because they share it with them. At some point, a co-employee who has a farm brought rice for her family after hearing the story and her boss had instructed to gather clean left overs from employee's lunch so she could bring it home. If you have a co-employee who is suffering from this kind of situation, what would you do? Food should be free to all because God gave the resources all for free, but why would there are people who are experiencing this?

hello, I am sorry for what is happening to your friend. Her experience is very hard and needs more understanding help and support. If I am one of his co worker and my condition is better than her. I will automatically help her even without asking. This is a very sad reality of our life that many people are starving but still many people are still corrupting in our government. And also many are wasting money for no reasons and selfish acts. I am also person that earns less than my expenses. And am working night and day just to earn more but still it's not enough. I will not surrender,I know God has a perfect plan for each of us but we do wrong choices and decision that changed the good plan. But still our God is just beside us to help us each time. God is waiting for us to call him and believed in him with our whole heart, mind and soul. I will pray for your friend. Convinced her to pray and give her moral support it can help her very much. And never forget that PRAYER REALLY WORKS! God bless!!r3corp gudluck and happy mylotting!

aren't we all starving in the philippines? i mean if we average out the number of meals people take in a day and the number of people who aren't able to eat one, i think everyone is only getting to eat a fourth of a meal everyday that's how poor we are as a country so we should stop electing crooked politicians who only aim to make us more poor

You are absolutely right! It is natural for us to feel anger when we hear hundreds of million which was corrupted in the military by only few blessed generals. Where do they get the courage to do that when the fact is millions of their countrymen are living like a rats! They should be ashamed of themselves. The Mindanao scenario is the smaller & compact picture of the entire Philippines, where a Mansion sat in the middle of huts.

Personally I think too often times, people seem to think that because you have a job, that things are easy for you, and you should have everything you need. I know many times in my Married life we have had to struggle and it is hard. Most of the time people would never ever think this, and it gets to the point where you have to live off of things like Ramen Noodles, etc. for sure. Most of the time until they have to walk in your shoes they never would even think it could be anything of importance as well.

I do not know anyone experienceing with lack of food for the family. With the economy in the United States lot of people went on food stamps and go to food pantries for food. I know how that goes! When I was pregnant and unemployed I was on food stamps and went to food pantries. This continued ,all together,3 years! It was the worst time of my life! It is not a nice to go through! If I didn't have food stamps and pantries, like at churches, I don't know what I would of done!

I have never been in that situation but I have been close. Working full time and barely meeting expenses there were many days I only had a cup of coffee at home and toast. At work I might have a pack of 10 cent ramen soup. Dinner would be an egg if I was lucky. I cut back and got through it though I was only supporting myself. When I was going through my divorce, my ex refused to pay child support the first 6 months until we got to court so I had a 2nd job plus a full time job and 2 little kids. Luckily, the elementary school would give me boxes of food each month and gift certificates whenever they could to get the kids clothes, school supplies, and bedding. I don't know what I would have done with their help. I went down to Social Services to ask for health insurance for my 2 kids and was told that I was rich. Rich? really? They told me to lose the tiny house and my car and then they would help me. I said without a car I would have no job and then no place to live. Why would I do that? The government seems to only offer help when you have nothing at all.

That's what make your country a much better place to live, at least they give extra help for the children. And for people who are industrious enough and would like to extend extra hours working, there are lot of opportunities. Here, even if you live in the streets or under a bridge, they would not give anything at all.

I am so saddened by that story of your friend. I can understand why they have to starve. It's really hard to live if your salary is not enough to feed the family a decent meal. Why would having a gallbladder operation be a hindrance in finding a permanent job. My mother and father in law has been up and about after 3 days from their operation on gallbladder. I think, by now the husband should find himself a job, so he could help her wife. It's best that the wife be honest with what she feel about the situation.

That can really be hard. A single-income family in the Philippines can really be having a hard time eating three decent meals a day, most especially when there are many children to feed. I think the government should be able to enforce programs that will effect equal distribution of wealth. Like if companies pay their workers well, then I think the workers will be able to feed their families decent meals three times a day.

I think I know somebody who is like that but he and his family are still starving cause he has so many kids and 2 of his kids got married but they still depend on him. He ears only $5 a day and of course its not enough for a family of 13 or 14 to eat meals 3 times a day. I just dont understand why he still keeps on producing when in fact he doesnt have the means to support his family.

A lot of people are still starving because of the rocketing prices of basic needs and low income. Even a small family with 4 members and all of them are working still it's not enough to buy their needs and wants.

Well, there are lots of situations here in our country, even singles who have no responsibilities are experiencing this, we have low minimum wage, high cost of living(food, shelter),taxes, etc. I hope our government will take notice of this wherein the one who suffered the most is us,Filipinos.

Having a regular job is a big help but to some third world country they have a low minimum wage salary. Those individuals who earns in that category will and definitely has financial issues. That is why some of the individuals do have dual or even triple jobs just to cope with the daily financial demands.
