So, the argument for Planned Parenthood is that they provide low cost health care to women. No, they don't do mammograms, they refer this service.
The truth is Planned Parenthood doesn't actually own any clinics. Those clinics are affiliations. It is important to note this because a clinic can become unaffiliated and still bear the name.
Now before this turns into a debate on whether or not they should receive funding, look at the facts associated with Planned Parenthood. Some of the information is disturbing.
If you look at the number of actual affiliated Planned Parenthood clinics, you might be surprised. There are only about 800 clinic in total across the country. This number is actually high since the abortion clinic is counted as a separate entity than the clinic even though they are at the same location.
There are clinics that bear the name Planned Parenthood but are not in fact affiliated with the organization.
Planned Parenthood does not spend 3% of its funding on abortions. The numbers thrown around are from this the number of abortions performed as compared to the number of total services performed. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/PPFA/PP_Services.pdf (This is a pdf file.) To figure out the funding, you would need to figure out the cost of the procedures itself and divide by their overall budget.
Another fact about Planned Parenthood is that they have been guilty of covering up the assault of underage kids. No, I am not talking about Lila Rose. These are actual court cases brought against Planned Parenthood for their role in the cover-up.

http://www.kscourts.org/Cases-and-Opinions/Opinions/SupCt/2010/20101015/Planned%20Parenthood.pdf (Pdf file on this one.)
This is a disturbing letter was posted on a now closed Planned Parenthood clinic website. The clinic was closed due to funding issues.

There is also a fraud case against them in California for overcharging the State for services performed. Another fraud case was settled in Texas for the exact same thing.
Now there are some good things about Planned Parenthood. They do have information and can recommend people to clinics. They can help older woman find the services they need for urinary tract infections and yeast infections.

I know alot of people will not like my comment, but I do not see a purpose for planned parenthood. First, people need to be more responsible and careful and not so promiscuous. Prevention and responsibility is needed.
I do not support abortions, except for the rare cases. I love babies and I cannot dread to hear of them being killed. It is insane! I cry for these babies.

How many charities out there to help people receive no government funding and are totally supported by private donations? There are many and they do raise enough money to support their cause. When there is talk about defunding these select groups we hear that the government funding is such a small percent that it make no real difference. Why do the liberals fight so hard to keep the insignificant amount in the Federal Budget? Maybe they are afraid that without such groups they would not have any voice in the community or to keep up what is so important to them Funding Abortions.

The government should only fund such organizations only if they give advice to expectant parents or advice parents on parenthood. While I support in some instances a woman's right to run her body, I do not believe that society should be responsible for abortions; except of course in rape cases.
If a woman wants to abort, then she and/or her companion should shoulder the financial burden. Taxpayers should not have to pay for people's casual abortion. If you are not married, then keep your legs crossed and there will be no need for an abortion. But if victim of rape, then rush to public Hospital for cleansing and prevention of pregnancy.

There is absolutely no reason for Planned Parenthood to exist. None. State run hospitals provide abortions, along with all the other services for women. You can get birth control at your local health department at low to no cost. PP is as useful and needed as a pimple on your behind.

What gets me about this is the whole "victim" angle. Cutting public funds from PP means you want women to die!!!
I'm waiting for a politician that says, "Okay. Sure. Die then." Match ridiculous BS with ridiculous BS. Why not?
Should the federal government be serving out taxpayer money to any organizations like these? I say no. Leave it at a state level if it must be funded. Let things get funded locally.
It's not so much that I mind my personal tax dollars going to X and Y; I just have a beef with the inept federal government wasting the money and then screaming about wanting old people or women or children or minorities to DIE every single time someone comes along and tries to stop the bleeding.
Hi, my name is matersfish AND I WANT WOMEN TO DIE. Suck it!
So they provide some good services? Oh, boy. Really?
They also dish out abortions to all comers, cover up crimes, and push pure agenda. But since they might also refer a woman to a separate clinic and that referral might end up saving her life, we're, what, supposed to suck up all the wrong and never touch their handouts?
You know - it's just BS. If it wasn't PP, it would be something else. The left want the feds to fund every damn thing and won't be happy until taxpayers in the higher bracket are paying in 70 and keeping 30 and until government is guaranteeing all healthcare, all employment, all education, and outright choosing what people eat, what they say and maybe even how they dress.
So it's just crap. Screw Planned Parenthood's public funds.
If they're that great, well, I have an idea...
For every person out there helping to fund Obama's billion-dollar campaign, why don't you do the noble thing and fund PP the same way? For all you actresses out there singing PP's praises, why don't you get together with your other actresses and donate some money privately?
It's pure ideology. It's not that it's Planned Parenthood. It's that the government helps fund them and that's exactly how PP's proponents think it should be.
