Well I usually do if its gonna be a long one. But sometimes i just listen to some songs while listening to my professor.

well its really in a low volume so i can hear the professor talk. It is also not allowed on my school but we have a seating arrangement and I am always at the back of room.

Wow, now that can be a distraction, but hopefully those besides you can not hear your music. I've seen this happen before, but when people at my school does this, they try not to be seen so they will not get caught.

Hmmmmmmm this is a bad habit friend. I am saying this because I am a teacher and if you will my student then I am not bear it Hahaha. I also like snacks but not eat class. If I will a student then I will not eat chips in class because I want to pay full attention on my lecture.

Well my professor doesn't mind light snacking in class. This was discussed the first day of the new semester. So I do eat in class, I make sure I'm not to loud to disrupt the class thats the last thing I want to do.

I do not eat/snack in class because we were not allowed in school. Also, I find it quite disrepectful to the teacher...unless the teacher allows. There were some classes that allowed eating and so, many students ate from simple snacks to full meals. 
In later college years, we were able to have more freedom and we usually ate candies to keep ourselves awake and alert in class. The candy wrappers were quite annoying to hear though.

Eating loud snacks could be disturbing. Some professor allow eating some don't. This particular professor allows eating in class, as long as it is light snacking and it does not disrupt the people around you.

Eating full meal in class? That is simply shocking! To eat snacks will be okay and acceptable, but to eat full meal is simply inappropriate for me...That will make you even sleepier in the class 
, and at the end of the day you will regret that you have learned nothing...But I agree that candy wrappers can be quite annoying...

I am doing that before as well but in a hidden manner so that my professor won't ever caught me in the act. I am bringing drinks inside the class like coffee but it was alright in our professor. It depends on what kind of class sometimes if that is drawing class inside laboratory my professor won't scold me as long as I could finish my job.

There are cases that we are not also allowed like if that is computer laboratories of course so that the computers would not be affected.

A lot of labs don't allow drinks or food. I'm in biology this semester and my lab professor would have the biggest fit it he sees food or drinks in class. We are not even allowed to chew gum. He stated these rules violates OSHA. But my other classes if the professor states its ok to bring a small snack and drink to class that i will.

Sometimes I do,but I think it is not right. I think eating in class means that we do not respect the teacher. We are there to study,not for eat .There are breaks,which are exactly for this.But,sometimes I am so hungry, and can't wait for the break,but even then I eat only when the teacher is not looking. I think eating in class, in front of the teacher, is disrespectful and presumptuous.

I'm in college, if i'm in class we don't have any breaks. Depending on how long the class is. Some teachers allow eating in class, some don't. My teacher i'm specifically speaking of said she don't mind light snacking in class. As long as you don't disturb anybody. Its not as if the entire class is snacking. So until she says something I don't think she really mind.

niq993: I have always believed that break intervals in lectures can be very handy, but sometimes breaks can disturb your learning momentum as well...Based on that argument, I would say that snack in class can be an alternative for breaks, because by that manner you can save time to be reallocated to learning more on the respective subject...Just my two cents...

Haha, I knew I wasn't the only one. About half of my class brings snacks. We all eat light so make sure we don't disrupt the next student beside us. To mention, my professor doesn't mind the snacking as long as we follow the rule of do not disturb.

@iceelush: Surprise, surprise, but you really like an exact copy of myself in that particular situation! The only time I eat in class is when my lecturer is writing on the white board, because that is the only time he let his eyes off his students! But, that only applies in his programming laboratory...In theoretical class, he allows us to eat and drink as we wish provided that we don't disrupt the momentum of the class...

Punishments are not allowed in college. In the USA you can do just about anything in college and won't get punished. Here all a teacher can do is tell you to get out of his or her classroom. No punishments involved.

I do! and I love doing that. Some teachers won't let us do that, but there are some times we sneak and eat chips from our bags. I think it's fun especially if you and your seatmates are doing that. I love doing it! It's really fun!

Well for a student snack time is always their favorite time. Am I right! So I believe those who can't enjoy snack at school is missing a lot. One time I brought free pasta snacks to the school of my kids and I saw they all were happy to eat free pasta. How nice to see them all sitting at their table and ready to eat the prepared food for them. They all enjoyed the free food and I also enjoyed sharing food to them.

Always. Since it keeps me from falling asleep. But mostly it will be snacks which is not smelly, since it will disturb others in the room. Some of my friends brings in things like instant noodle and it is really disturbing because it smells really nice, makes me hungry.

lol, this is funny! But we are alike in this way. I bring snacks to keep me interested in the lecture. It keeps me awake. I do bring light snacks that do not disturb the people around me. If I was sitting next to your friend what that bowl of noodles would probably end up in their lap or on the floor lol, its to messy and loud.

Frankly, I do eat snacks in the class...I think that eating in class makes it easier for me to keep myself awake when hearing sermon-like lectures for two hours straight! Some people might think it is inappropriate to do so, though, because it might offend your lecturer in some way 
...Your lecturer might think that you are playing around and are not fully focusing in the class...
Nevertheless, my friend and I usually asked permission from our lecturers to excuse us to eat in the class so that he will not feel offended...It is a good way to stay awake and focus in class, but do consider others as well...You should eat without noise, and eat in intervals to maintain your focus in the class...

I agree, during the first day of class, professors make it clear if they allow eating or drinking in class. If that professor don't allow eating in class, but drinking is allowed. I will just bring a beverage. If that professor don't mind light snacking, than I would bring a light snack. My professor this semester allows us to snack on light foods, something that doesn't make a lot of noise. If we are not disturbing the people around us, she don't mind us snacking in class.

I eat snacks in class but in a way that my teacher will not saw me, 8s like peek a boo game, once my teacher's eyes are away from me, that is the time I took a bite.. =)

lol, I think a lot of people does that. I know I do, especially in classes where eating snacking is not allowed!
