Having unrealistic goals I think can be very depressing. If i set unrealistic goals for myself i set myself up for failure and then I'm discontent and unhappy. If I set realistic goals that are manageable I feel better. For example striving to be really rich, or having fame for me personally is unrealistic and the chances of me abtaining those things are unlikely. Do you have realistic goals?

I believe it is very important to have realistic goals in our lives. if we set a goal that is clearly out of ur reach, how can we ever be confident enought to achieve it. Setting a realistic goal that we can succeed in only brings us more satisfaction.

I do agree with you. I feel it is important for us to do this. If we are balanced and reasonable we are more likely to be happy with the goals we set and are able to achieve. This then encourages us to set and reach more goals.

I think your thoughts are so right and realistic. Everyone must set some realistic life goals according to the conditions of him or her.If not, there will not be success and happiness for him or her though painstaking efforts have been given. My life goals aren't unrealistic, and so far most of them have come true.Though I'm not rich,I feel rather satisfied.

It is so nice when we are able to see our goals accomplished. And even though many people aren't rich they can still be successful. A lot of times people can be rich and unsuccessful in other areas of their life.

Yeah it's not good for us to continually miss what we are trying to do. We want to have success so it's good for us to have set goals that we can reach. We want to do our best and it's a good idea to have what we want clear in mind.

I think most of my goals are realistic. I classify them more as short and long term which helps me. Being rich is a long term one for me :). The short term ones are very specific and have dates and numbers to be achieved at a certain time that are achievable. I think being specific can really help to achieve your goals. Writing them down always help me because then I see them everyday and there is just something about writing that makes them more realistic and like I can't just forget them. I think you can do anything you want and be anyone you choose if you want it bad enough, so no goal is unrealistic :).

You are very organized with your goals. That is a really good thing. I'm sure that this has helped you reach many of your goals. Writing our goals down is very important. It's important for us to work hard to reach the things that we want to accomplish.

It is very important to set myself realistic goals. If there is a point of setting an unrealistic goals, it would be that we expect more from ourselves and try to reach better results. But in the end, when you don't reach it, it would be so depressive. I would never be happy with myself if I set unrealistic goals, but maybe for some people it is stimulating.

I agree for some people it is stimulating to set high goals and strive to reach them. But I'm like you. I like to be able to reach my goals and be happy with what i've accomplished. it would be hard for me to feel this way if I've set goals to high and failed to reach them.

Realistic goals may make you feel better when you accomplish them, but nothing beats the feeling when you come close to acheiving someting near impossible. I think the best way to go about is to go for something beyond your reach, fall short and try again

I do think in some cases it's a good idea to reach a little further. We may actually be surprised how close we get, or that we have accomplished something that we didn't think that we could. As long as we don't get discouraged and give up.

I think it is very important to have realistic goals. If I try to stretch myself too thin and accomplish something that I know is almost impossible in too short of time I do find myself getting depressed and eventually giving up all together. I see so many people over extend themselves in this manner though. We are the "Right Now" Society and we expect things to just happen. I think most of us have forgotten that in order to accomplish great things we must work at it first. If I find that I have over extended a goal I will break that goal down into different tasks and work on it that way.

I agree that not setting realistic goals can be frustrating and really isn't worth all the stresses when it's not something we can reasonably achieve. I agree with as well about how we view things. We often want to see results right now, right away and that generally isn't how it works. Many things take time and effort we have to be patient and reasonable with ourselves and what we want to accomplish.

well, as what you said, unrealistic goals will make you unhappy and discontent, so whhy make goals that would make you unhappy. Realistic goals are important because for me that would be the basis of my actions and attitude towards life.

I think it's really important to separate both dreams and goals. I dream about coming a singer all the time, but I can't sing, and I will never be good enough to become a singer. But the goals I've got are different, more realistic, and that's so important. It kills to have unrealistic goals. When you fail to complete them, you might feel like a failure. It's important to begin small, and you might end big.
