What are some TV shows that you think have been on for too long?

So I'm sitting here watching one of my favorite shows, "How I met your mother" and noticing that with every new episode, it's getting less funny, more boring and annoying. I feel when they started the whole "Marshall and Lilly want a baby" storyline it got boring. Everything now is about them trying to have a baby and I honestly don't think the show can last with a baby being added if they do continue the show after it. It's been on for many seasons and I think it's time to wrap it up. Maybe make the last episode be when she has the baby (if they do get her pregnant) but definitely no more episodes after that. I also think, Law and Order, House, and Two and a half men need to come to an end. They're great shows but you can only do so much before it becomes repetitious and old. Also no more, Top Chef, Real Housewives of anywhere, American Idol, Survivor, America's next top model, Dancing with the stars. I liked these shows back when the first started. Now they're just stale and boring.

I think most reality shows have overstayed. The only one I enjoy is Extreme Makeover. The low point for me was Temptation Island or whatever it was called. Thankfully that didn't last very long. Also Spongebob Squarepants. That's been on since...what?...1999? Like The Simpsons, even most people who were (or maybe are) fans of the show say it's lasted past its welcome. Most even feel the humor has gone down since the movie.

Well the problem can be when certain people that help make the show move on, and then they try to keep the show going, and then like you said sometimes the Reality type shows seem to loose their luster and steam and seem old. I have never liked Dancing With The Stars, but think it is overdone. Also not one for Apprentice anymore and think it is lacking. Law and Orders... Most of the Sequels lack the luster of the original or SVU, as well as I know I could go on and on. Sometimes shows just are reaching when in reality they need to save us $$ and go home.

A lot of these shows, like Dancing with the Stars, don't really feature 'stars'. They are more like out of work actors trying to make a comeback. Then there are others like Bristol Palen who was really only famous for getting pregnant out of wedlock and being the daughter of a vice presidental candidate. For the most part, reality TV is a cheap way to fll up airtime. I'd rather watch "Wo wants to be a Millionaire" or even "Cash Cab" where at least I could play along.

Yes I agree with you here- some shows really need to end before they become really boring and repetitive. I for one, want One Tree Hill to end already, and CSi too, that's all I think, fortunately Smallville is ending.. They should only have 4 or 5 seasons if they can't make the show better then they should stop and not ruin it.

Oh I forgot about CSI. I watch so many shows and I'm off and on with them that I lose track. Yeah, I agree with CSI too. I never watched One Tree Hill but I do know that it's a popular show. I agree with ending the show before they ruin it.

I agree. I got burned out on dancing with the Stars. I got burned out on the bachelor but went back watching it after a couple seasons. I love American idol can never get burned out on that show. After the 1st season of survivor I was done with that show.

I wish Fox would pull the plug on "The Simpsons." It hasn't been really funny in years, and watching it now is almost painful. All the incarnations of "CSI" need to be put out to pasture, too. Celebrity reality shows have overstayed their welcome WAY too long. But I guess it's cheaper for the networks to follow a has-been or never-was around with a camera crew than it is for them to invest in fresh scripted shows.
