When i was a kid, somebody told me that i should make a wish when i see a falling star. At that time it was so difficult to see one and if i did i was always too late to make a wish. I always believed that it would come true.
When i was in the university, there was one night where my friends and i stayed up all night in the nearby beach owned by our university and laid ourselves down on the sand. We saw several falling stars as we gazed up in the sky and i made a lot of wishes. One of them was to have a particular friend as my boyfriend. It never came true.
From then on i have stopped making wishes when i see a falling star. Have you ever believed that wishes could come true this way?

Hi toni
Never and Always. Confusing statement but yes, I believe that because the child in me, (and also the grown up me), makes me believe in - Miracles do happen. And yes, everytime, when I feel hopeless, and there is a feeling that I am helpless and cannot do anything but stand in a corner and watch... this takes over. Though I dont get to see many falling stars, but there are some other local superstitions that I do and feel better.
I somewhere know that nothing will change but still, it is the getting of this "Hope" that makes me do it.

Sometimes the thought of having that little hope of making our dreams come true is inspiring. Keep on making wishes Sid!

Even as a kid and up until now, I constantly wish upon a twinkling star or even a falling star. There's nothing to loose and everything to gain in case your wish comes true... and I think I'll never stop looking up at the stars on a clear cozy night and make a wish upon them till I grow old or even die. :-)

Well i wish that wishing star wishes would come true then if my wish was fulfilled it would be pointless making that wish and on the other hand if it wasn't fulfilled there is no point in making that wish is there?
Confused?
Kidding. Yup we have been told as kids that shooting stars make wishes come true. I have never been that lucky to even see a shooting star of my own to make a wish so i want to see one now. If it were so then the whole world would change no? People who see the shooting stars would be everything and anything! So i guess maybe that's not true!!!
Cheers!

Like everyone even in my childhood I used to ask for some wish on seeing a falling star. But I do not remember any of my wish getting fullfilled though. However the habbit has stayed. There are many legends regarding the origin of this tradition. As per one our ancestors were afraid of the falling stars as they thought it was the way the Gods travel hence they used to ask for the wishes hoping them to come true.Another Norse legend says that some Norse warriers were returning home after a long battle and were eager to see their family. In the open sea they saw a lot of falling stars and thought that someway the world is coming to an end.Hence they wished for a lst chance to meet their families and finally when they did met their family they thoght of the falling stars as a good omen and the belief stayed.

I guess that when I was a little girl, I also believed on the wishes before blowing out the candles.
But now, I think that no star can make your wishes come true if you don't work on them. I removed this from my mind, and now I'm just working hard to get what I want.
Can sound pessimistic, I know, but I guess is the truth. Or maybe, that star and the candles are helping me with my hard working, maybe they give me that hard work, I don't really know. But would be amazing if we can discover that all those things are true!

When we are kids,we used to believed in so many things, good things that make us dream and wish we can have it,or we could be one of those.
Like fairy tales,of princess, kingdoms and knight in shining armor..or the silver lining.
Wishing upon the start is one of the most common beliefs that kids look up into...
gazing up the sky hoping to see one.
I also keep my fingers crossed hope to see and wish on a falling star.
Sometimes even cheated myself that i've seen one...or my eyes cheated me.
but now that we're grown ups...no more believed on things..
Not even my kids ever believed such, since they know that stars won't fall..and it's just meteor showers that we're seeing.

When you are a child anything can seem possible. wishing on a star to make a dream come true is something any child could see the reality in. As we get older we still like to carry that dream of childhood with us. It might not be practical to believe in wishes coming true on a star but who is to say that it can not happen?

It all depends on the person, I personally have seen a shooting star and I wished something that I wanted to happen. After that incident, I always had bad experiences about my wish. I thought it was fake and would never come true.
Who knew, few months after that, I got my wish came true. But I was not expecting it at all, since I lost interest in it. Haha. So yeah, basically that's my experience.

Hmmn, my beloved grandfather told me this and I believe it...I guess it didn't come true for you because it involved another person...but, it's all in your mind's projection actually, the power of the mind
