The mails are NOT from Fedex. They are a common kind of spam email. Do not open them, respond to them and, in particular, DO NOT open any attachments they may have. The attachments very often install viruses, trojans and other malware when opened. Just mark them as spam and/or delete them.

There are many ways in which spammers get email addresses. One of the ways is to 'scrape' the Internet. Many websites, forums, blog comments and so on publish email addresses in full view. Thankfully, fewer and fewer now do this! It is one of the reasons why MyLot Guidelines tell us NOT to publish any personal information in discussions. It used to be the practice for spammers to simply generate more or less random email addresses and to send out millions of emails to them. A few would be genuine but most of them, of course, would just be rejected. I suspect that this method is not so often used because email providers find it very easy to block such mass sendings. Many spammers buy lists of 'certified genuine' email addresses. One way of compiling these lists is through 'round robin' forwarded mails. I'm sure you know the kind of thing - a joke or a virus warning or even a heart-wrenching 'charity' notice sent to you (and to everyone on their contacts list) by one of your friends. Maybe YOU don't forward these things but, whether you do or not, the harm is already done. Your email address will have been forwarded along with hundreds of others as the message travels around the Internet. Eventually, it ends up in the inbox of a professional email harvester (who probably masqueraded as a friendly, chatty sort of person on some forum or chat site and persuaded someone to send on these things to them). Once you have an email address, in short, it is practically impossible to prevent it from receiving some spam!

ya its a scam. if FedEx was going to send you something they would send an email with a tracking number and information about where it came from. i too get those email, but mine automatically go into my spam folder. i never open any email saying that i'm getting some thing or won something that i don't know about. well be careful and keep on mylotting and have a good day.

I recently received lots of it, not only from Fedex but also form DHL and other courier company. They are absolutely spam, I've tried once to download the attachement but I forget what's the attachement is but definitely not from the company. Since then I just delete all mail from any courier company. They do not email their client, any transaction with courier is deal with the sender and receiver so never open it and it may contain virus, always delete it straight away.

It is a scam. I got one of those emails. Lucky my virus protector wouldn't let me open it. It said "Danger-Trojan".

thanks for the input and advice i really appreciate it. Luckily you have a good virus protection on your computer. Is there a way to prevent these emails from coming to my email?

You may need to change your email address or have more than one. Spam filters help but can't stop all of it. Be careful where you list your e-mail address as some forums are an easy target for spam, scams, and viruses.
