There are a lot of advantages of reading books or usefull thing but how many peoples are there who knows it. This is a modern age and now people has changed their mind with the new thing came in this world. some loves to play, some music and some loves to be fashionable so why reading. For me reading books was always important just to be passed on the exams never tried to take inspiration from good things learn by reading.

I still can remember that big banner hanged at the entrance of our library when I was in high school. It said, "Read, and a new world will open."

With all those audio and e-books out there I wonder what will happen with the simple paper book. Since I was little I love reading books, crimes actually :)
Arthur C. Doyle is my favourite. Anyway a couple of years ago I made an experiment. I listened to a audio book, try to read it online but none of that compared to the real thing :)

yes you are right. Now a days you can read books on internet, listen audio books and also watch video tutorials but you will never get such experience like reading paper book. everything goes into the mind easily.

Oh and I forgot to mention that you can always go and watch a movie based on a book, oucorse read the book first to see if they did a good job with the movie. But again the real thing is what counts. Like messages in bottles, there are things that are unique and will be like that forever :)

When I was in high school, I seldom read. I just listen carefully to discussions made by my teacher so I will not be studying and reading notes afterwards. I agree with what you said and reading can be done sometimes if not often because it gives us additional knowledge about something we know less. :-)
Happy mylotting!

When I was young I did not like to read at all. Now I read evry day. I can not live without my books. Its for me realy valuable and a fullfilment of life. I think people are missing out, because nothing else can give you so much than a book. For me is it: nutricious, fullfilling, inspiration, knowledge, enjoyment, .....

I think there are a lot of advantages to reading, but it also depends on what you are reading. I don't think reading fiction books are more advantageous than playing a game, because you are learning skills by playing a game. I think reading news or about something you want to learn about is more advantageous than playing a game because you are learning more than just the content. You are developing critical thinking skills as well as grammar, etc. I agree that less people read today, and it is because there are so many other things people can do besides pick up a book or article. I wonder how that will affect future generation. I think future generations will just develop different skills and different parts of the brain.

yes lots of useless books are there also. Adult novels, violence related stories and a lot. Those books can never give us good experience or knowledge. we should avoide these books and search usefull books for us. the books which tell us the way to live and work well.

I love to read, not just only books, all kind of things.
When I'm reading books, like novels and stories, they took me to a different world. And one of the advantages or reading books is that increases your capacity for imagination and creativity, instead of movies, that you have all ready and you just need to see it.
I also love to read articles and to do research on things that I'm interested on, either here on the internet or reading books. I think that I spend most of my time reading. I really enjoy to read, stimulates my mind and I can learn lots of things when reading.

I love reading. I have read so many books. I used to just read book after book when I was younger. So much as that my mom actually told me I read to much!! LOL And she has always been a reader. I love it when the book is so good that it actually brings me right into the authors head and its as tho I am actually experiencing the story first hand.

Reading habit is a good habit. Books are best friends. I like reading to much. Music and play are have their importance. But reading is the best one. From your message it looking you are young one. So you not like reading. By reading you update your knowledge. You are join my lot and need to post topic and respond on the topics of friends. Your reading habit helpful in it. If you have habit reading one or newspaper your never need to see the book of GK

Reading can improve many people lives in different ways. Such as writing, by reading a lot of books it can improve the way you write in terms of the language you use and the vocabulary you incorporate in a paragraph. Reading can improve the way you articulate things, you'll find the way you express things comes out more smoothly. It also improves your use of vocabulary. People who read a lot are the thinkers, the educated folks that are great public speakers. So, people should read more.

Reading opens doors to the wonders of the world, we can go anywhere, learn anything and meet anyone through books. When we instill also in our child a love of reading, we give them wings on which to soar in search of their dreams.

I love to read. It increases your vocabulary and makes you knowledgeable on a lot of things. Thus, when you are with friends or when you meet new people, you are able to contribute to their conversation in whatever way you can. It exercises your mind and minimizes the possibility of memory lapses as you grow older. So, let's read, read, and read!

You know, growing up I didn't care to read much. I never really found the love for books because I didn't know what I liked to read. So now as an adult I discovered books because I know what kind of book I like to read and that made the difference for me. I went on a bing read for a while doing 2-3 books a week until I had read pretty much every book from 2 authors I like. I had to lay off a little...just giving them time to write some new ones for me. lol

Reading is very important, and we can be happy that we have had the possibility to learn it. I have read a lot since I learned to do it at school. First, books for children and then for teenagers and grown ups.
The latest 50 years I have read the Bible. There is still a lot to learn, and this time I listen to it by downloading it from jw.org. I recognize many verses that my mom used to read aloud many years ago, and I am grateful that it is possible to get help to understand this great book, or actually it is a library with 66 books..
Yes, we can learn so many good things by reading!!

Reading is something like saving money for your future. If you learn to read and read while you are young, you will have saved lots of stock knowledge in your brain which you can use as you walk through your life. When I was in school, I used to read all our books and notes so that I will have an armor during exams and graded recitations. But I admit that there were times that I get tired of reading and just want to give my brain some breaks. And since I am used to reading anything from books to newspapers and magazines and even children's book, I can't get away with the habit even though I'm now on my senior years.

I agree with you. Now with technology available, many people resort to spending much of their time playing games on the internet.

As what I have observed, the teens now are more focused on thrills, fun and excitement. Their energy is like a leveling up games that as they reached the middle they can not hold on but to keep on moving to aggressively win. The library now is hardly visited and the observe silence rule is really followed due to absence of students. I maybe wrong but it seems students now do not know how to use index cards.
Reading really helps in exercising ones brain, keeps memory sharp.

Well friend, I do love reading, too. I feel that books are very useful. However, different people have got different interest. You and I may be interested in reading, while others might hate reading.
This is also about trend. A few centuries ago, people were interested in war because being a knight was so cool. But nowadays, people are more to music because singers and musicians are so cool! Who on earth would want to be called as book-worm?
