Italy is famous for pizza. but the bread part or the crust was made in Greece. the pizza itself was made famous because a queen loved the food so much she got a special chef to come and make it for her. He made it special for her with tomatoes on top or the sauce. With toppings the word spread that a queen loved peasant food and it slowly but surely spread through the entire world.

Who doesnt love pizza? it was realy interisting to read that article about the history of pizza, very accurate indeed; with what we have now its really not much of a peasant food anymore isnt it?

Italy (and Europe) did not have tomatos before Columbus came to America. Tomatos belong to the new world, as many other food that constitute a great part of our diet. Sometimes I wonder what people ate before that

Italy maybe. But today we have our own pizza recipe. We explore our cooking ability as time goes by.

It is really very interesting to read the posting and the responses about pizza. I am a pizza addict, I would say. I would go to a pizza shop atleast once a week, for lunch, dinner, or just a snack. I like different flavors too. I have been eating pizza for many years, but never really knew about the history about pizza. Thank you all so much for the information.

Wow! Thanks for the history of pizza. Good thing the queen likes to eat they discovered how to make pizza and everybody is enjoying it. My friend who went to Italy said that the pizza there is really salty.

Italy of course. But different countries have developed different variations of it since then.

Thanks for then nice information. Never knew that. I believe that in cases like that, wherein the the ingredients were made from different countries, the origin should be where classic pizza is at its best, just like in Italy. American pizza is just a variation of that of italy. I think the stuffed crust or the ultra thin slices are just a modification of the homemade dough with fresh ingredients of that of an italian pizza. And of course another reason to say that Italy owns pizza is that all over the world people are naming pizza restaurants in Italian.
