television programs in an unknown language...

I'll definitely watch anything with subtitles. I find that with subtitles you can both follow the story and also get a good feel for the acting (dubbing makes it easy to follow the story but usually the dubbed voice doesn't belong to the original actors/actresses and makes the whole experience less natural in my opinion). I'd hate to miss a fantastic movie or a television show just because I didn't understand the language. I'm with you, though, if there are no subtitles...you can't really appreciate what's going on in any program with dialogue if you don't understand the language at all.

Yes I have watched television shows in spanish, it is difficult but it can be fun to watch and even if you don't completely understand it, it can be funny. I've even put a movie or video game on in another language, one time I played Assasin's Creed Brotherhood in Italian.

According to my experience it is very difficult to understand the movie. If you are watching from the first then at least at the end you will come to know what all about is that movie, but if you watch from the middle in the sense half movie then very difficult to understand. I won't come to know by hearing the conversation held between the characters but by the action of the actors or characters. But some times i feel its funny to watch that kind of movie, because eventhough i don't know the language i used to watch that language movies.

Yeah it is difficult but even if you don't understand everything, you'll still get to know what the story is about. I've tried watching movies in Taiwanese and Japanese and even if I don't know the language, I still somehow get the story. Or you can always watch them with English subtitles.

It is pretty annoying but after a while you start understanding. I for example am willing to learn german so i started watching movies in german with or without subtitles. I think after a while you start to understand a couple of things.
