These reptiles are scary in forms of snakes. Snakes crawl and reach almost every place. These beings look very scary, people train these snakes and finally get a bite of it to die off the hobby. When I see one in our compound the dog of mine would go and chase it and this is what increases my scary part. If a poisonous snake is encountered by my dog and anything happens to it then I can't handle the pain. I hope nothing of such sort happen anytime.
What do you feel about snakes, share your feelings.

Hi,tintukm!
Snakes!I hate snakes. And afraid of them.I'm okay with cockroaches,I'm okay with mice, but I'm not okay with snakes. That's the only animal I fear of,at least I don't know any others that I fear of yet.Maybe tigers or lions, but as long as I don't encounter with a wild one,I would be alright.I mean, what are the odds? But snakes, the opportunities are much more. When I was a kid, there was one snake went through the pipe which connected the yard with our balcony. It was a tiny one and not poisonous, yet I got so scared.
They don't seem adorable to me at all.I just find them plain creepy. And I hope I will never encounter one in my life.
And let's both hope no such thing would happen to your dog.BTW,you're allowed to keep pets in your dorm?

Yeah! Its funny the comparison between the cockroaches and snakes that you make. Then come with the lions and tigers which would be mostly there to all of us, huh. These creatures crawling with long body and dangerous looking heads with some having small horn like projections put us into a big scary look.
Oh! so u had experiences with snakes, the small snakes do grow big and thus increase the part of getting scared all time. I would guess keeping them away from our compounds with useful methods employed like dogs at home, the filling of any holes onto the compound walls and also keeping off the rats form the place our our belonging.
I hope we all are safe from the snakes and nothing gets hurt from the venomous snakes at least. Take care, have a good day!

Haha. All I'm saying is that I'm not afraid of bugs or mammals, but reptiles, especially snakes.I'm glad I just encountered a small one.I would probably have fainted if I had seen a big one. When I have my own house,I would definitely take every possible precaution to avoid letting a snake in.

I am afraid of snakes too. It is not that because it bites but because of its skin. Snake skin gives me a allergic feeling. But I love to watch snake shows on TV channels. In many instances dogs have an upper hand over snakes. Dogs can kill snakes than the vice versa. Reptiles act by impulse and by their thinking.. So people die even though they raise them.

After the snake removes it skin we find its skin also to trouble us. The snakes remove it off and we could see that the snake had been there for a while and which makes us even more afraid to go to that place thereafter, right. Snakes are really impulsive, like you too say. Its better not to individually raise a snake and find its after effects ourselves indeed.

Although I understand the fear that some people have of snakes, I definitely don't share it. I think snakes are gorgeous creatures. Snakes and sharks are two dangerous animals that I find absolutely beautiful. My brother had two pet snakes once, Bob and Little Spot. They were both corn snakes, and Bob was one of the sweetest animals we ever had. I loved picking him up and holding him when I was younger...it really taught me to love and respect all animals, whether they were furry or not.
I worked at a pet store once, and a man brought in his ten foot long, Burmese python. I was actually the only one in the store who went up to the guy and asked if I could pet her. Even my forty year old manager stayed in his office to watch through the window. Snakes are absolutely fascinating.
In saying that, however, there's a difference in finding the beauty in an animal and believing in keeping them in captivity. I find tigers beautiful, but I believe that if you're ever hurt by one, it's your own fault. Some animals will simply always be dangerous to be around and keep in captivity. I think smaller snakes are fine, but if you have kids playing with them, supervision is smart to do. The same thing with kids and all animals...mostly because kids are too rough and/or cruel with the animals rather than the animals are dangerous to the kids. With big snakes like the pretty yellow Burmese that came through my pet store...well, if anything happens, don't blame the animal.

Snakes are always an exception when we consider just animals. I do agree that when we don't hurt the animal then there be any harm from the animal too. Amazed to know you are a snake lover too. The long yellow Burmese pythons are harmless, I have heard but how can we behave to them as we would to other animals as our pets. The Bob and little Spot you mentioned were quite surprising to me. Holding them with ease and in its taught way is the only way to deal with them.
Kids are to be treated with more alertness and we mustn't leave kids with these animals alone. Snakes can't be believed for sure, I have known that many masters of snakes die after getting its bite only. Yet the hobby would be continued if they get their lives back too. Love towards animal is a wonderful feeling and trying to understand most of the possible animal kind is a wonderful thing to do.
We can't blame the animal too, meant to live in the wild and when we tame and keep it restricted to the domestic know how, the snake can't adjust always. Though we humans always rely on our strong feelings and get along with any animal, right.

There are snakes which are not poisonous, I had a pet snake once, a Xenopeltidae kind which my uncle gave to me and it was from Palawan but it my cat killed it though though I have no qualms about killing them, it's really simple, just cut their head off, well, I'm a farm girl so it's kinda normal for me to swing a bolo on a snakes head...my siblings actually tease my fearlessness towards snakes when I'm a chicken when it comes to cockroaches...

I am surprised to meet people like you. I have seen many play with snakes but to know there are people liking snakes and like petting them is amazing. Snakes can't be trusted, isn't, it killed you cat as well. The snake family has not even one snake which won't bite us in any time of of we petting it. Its mindset can change anytime and we won't always be lucky, there may not be poison yet why would one like to get bites every now and then.
I appreciate your courage and well I can never be so fearless in terms of snakes in any point of my life for sure.

ooh, my cat wasn't killed, it was the other way around...my cat killed my pet snake...and I guess, I'm just used to them because their are many in our farm which are not poisonous either but they kill the livestock so we have to kill them....

Oh! I misjudged. In and around the farm fields the rat snakes which aren't poisonous are many in number and are an alarming factor for the livestock too, isn't. The next option that remains is just like you mention, killing them. Also if available there are those snake conserving people who would come and catch them anytime of the day and take them to the best places for them to belong, in zoos, research plants, etc.

Its not surprising to see snakes as dangerous as they are indeed. Like other animals it won't have the sensibility to understand we humans and strikes with a lot of power when sees danger. To tame them and keep at its discipline is a horrifying job to perform for anyone.

Hi Dear tintukm! I live on a 150 ares farm which is situated amidst of wildness all around! You can say that we have invaded the wild life's dwelling for our purpose! So it is natural to get lot of wild life on our farm. In India we have got four types of poisonous snakes, King Cobra, Cobra, Krait, Russel Viper and Pit Viper!Barring the former one i.e King Cobra, which is found near the marshy and humid places we have got all the remaining poisonous snakes on our farm with many varieties of non poisonous snakes. Keel backs, Rat snakes, crown snakes, Sand Boas etc are commonly seen !
I feel really bad when people kill snakes as of the hundred of varieties of the snakes we have got only four varieties of poisonous snakes in our country, but unfortunately because of poor information and education about the snakes the non poisonous snakes are killed by the localities. The snakes play vital role in managing the population of rodents and other pests. they are in fact are friends to the farmer who are helping him by reducing the rodent strength which is very detrimental to the crops!
The poisonous snake also won't attack any human being or any large animal unless it is provoked . It may attack in defense. In fact the poison or the venom of the snake is a digestive enzyme which is required by it for the purpose of digestion of the prey which it catches by injecting the venom into it! The snake can't digest the prey without the venom injected into its prey! Thus the snake normally wouldn't like to waste the venom unnecessarily as once used it takes them few weeks to develop it again and till that time the snake has to starve if it would waste the venom!
I come across many poisonous and non poisonous snakes often on the farm but I never kill or never allow others to kill them as they form part and parcel of the ecology! We has a Krait once in our Kitchen and one Cobra once in our bed room just next to the AC. But in both the cases w managed to remove these snakes and let them go our in nature on their own way! In fact I have bought a book on Indian snakes worth about Rs.3000/- to ave more information on the Indian snakes so that I can educate my farm workers about them and their importance!
Thanks for the discssion!

Snakes are wonderful creatures. We have been taught to fear them from early childhood. The christian faith is based on a hatred of snakes. It is a shame since these creatures preform a very important role in the world.
Most snakes eat creatures that we dislike even more than snakes, such as rats and other vermin. Most snakes are not poisonous. They are not slimy as most folks think they are. They are very smooth and sleek. Many snakes are beautiful. They can make great pets, they actually like people.
When I was young, my brother and I used to milk snakes and send the venom off to be made into anti-venom serum. Later, when others killed snakes I would treat the skins and inlay them into denim and leather jackets for Bikers. I always felt sorry for the snakes. There was not reason for the deaths of most of them. People just killed them because they hated snakes.

Hi. tintukm. I am afraid of snakes too. They are creepy and crawly reptiles that terrify me so badly. Having a pet to capture the snake is great only when your pet will not be harmed by this snake at all. I don't like to touch them nor do I want to have one wrapped around my body.

Sneakes are not my favorite thing either. They are just too smart for their own good. you just don't know what to expect from there. Even though snakes do petrify me a bit they also fasciante me. I still enjoy watching the film Snakes On a Plane over and over again.

I really stand on your part sender621. We may love watching them their films, videos and all, but real life isn't that amazing with them. The body pattern and the fierce nature of these snakes do makes us fall for their dangerous looking beauty of some kind but being on the safer side is my policy towards snakes all these time.
Poisonous snakes will be thus even more scary with their two venom spilling teeth, I must say they look the villains of horrifying movies at times.

Snakes can be so scary specially if there's a lot of them. I like the albino snakes and those red colored snakes. It is not that scary at all. I can even touch and put them on my shoulders. But those snakes that has grayish black or brownish black color are really scary.

Noway dear Killer-bullet, even if its in a zoo I approach them with fear and a little alertness. They crawl here and there and reach who know' s they won't be just below our foot . They are peculiar to see and admire but not when it comes to praising them as a cal an sensible being of this world. Even if we become an integral part of its world and keep on looking after it, for just a instant it can turn against us and none are going to stop that from happening.
Animals will be animals but other kind are so sensible and there are snakes only which are so mysterious at times, right.
