I mean like the cd's dvd's that don't play or wont work. And all those plastic bottles of pop. Stuff like that that most people just put in the trash.I had a bunch of cd's and dvd's that quit working so I put them on shoe strings to scare off the animals from our cherry and peach tree. I also made them to hang above our strawberries. Worked last year but last year I had them on fishing line it kept breaking. The 2 liter bottles make great hummingbird feeders. But we don't drink too much soda so I haven't done that yet. I seen one a friend made though. So what do you do with that kinds of stuff?

Hi Jennyze. I love making things out of the things that others would call trash. I think it is better to get good use out of things then to fill our landfills. But I understand when you just plain don't have the time to do anything. Thanks for sharing.

We all have our creative minds all we have to do is use our imagination and let our minds take over. I wasn't into crafts as I was growing up. I got into crafts when I watch craft shows and stuff that others did or do. Try it you might find out there is another side of yourself you didn't even know. Good luck my friend.

I save the cd's, even the free ones that different companies give out. There are places online that talk about crafting with them, and yes, I agree, they help scare the birds away. I think if the birds start hitting their heads on our windows again I will have to put some out in front of the windows. I would like to make large outdoor tree ornaments from them as well. I take any plastic bottles to the recycling station. If the chemicals in those bottles is bad for us, it would be bad for birds, too. I had a bird feeder made from a milk jug, once. The possums chewed into it cause they wanted the seeds. If you have a garden, turn the bottles upside down. Put a hole in the bottom so you can put water in it. Take the lid off, or put holes in it.Bury it half way, and fill it with water for your veggies and flowers. Cut bottoms of 2 liters to make saucers for plants to keep them from dripping. I have seen gorgeous butterfly creatures made from plastic bottles.

An online search for 2 liter bottle butterflies will give you some choices. I did not see any quite like the ones I had seen in the past, but there were some great ones.

Hi GG. So sorry it took me so long to respond. I am like you I save everything I can make something else out of it when I am done using it. Sounds like a good bird feeder. Wish I knew how to make butterfly creatures out of plastic bottles.

I love researching online on ways to recycle items i dont use anymore. like turn the into a lamp, or art decors. I like it to have a function, not mere decoration. Personally, i donate or give away a lot of my CDs and DVDs. But i leave a bit to use as candle holder, paper plate weight. Some even use them as bike reflector. I use shoebox, and other cartons, redecorate them to match the my room's theme and use them as containers. One of the biggest Mall in the city have this monthly recycle program when u can leave some old stuff and they will recycle it for you. Online sites gives me a lot of ideas on how to reuse and recycle items i would have otherwise throw away in the trash can.

In our country, we can always sell the old stuff specially the plastic stuffs. CDs and DVDs are those things that you can't really recycle (be reused for its main purpose. The best thing I do to those is to use it as decor. Most of time during xmas time. As much as possible I don't want to throw things out easily, I spend time to think if I really need it or I may need it in the future.

Hi Phoebelance and welcome to my lot. I just hate throwing things away that I can make something useful out of. But if I can't think of something useful I burn all I can I hate thinking of stuff being put into the ground. I guess I should it all came from the earth in one way or another. Thanks for sharing.

I love worn out VCD's or DVD's but I prefer the VCD types to hang in the tree outside our house in the province, I also hang the used water bottles, taking out the plastic or paper cover and fill it up with colored water...I have made wind chimes out of shells and my worn out hair bands...I love to recycle!!!
