hi everyone,
i just wanted to ask you guys, if there has also been a time when you choose what discussions to respond to, like do you rather respond to short discussion rather than those very long ones? only respond to those that interest you? or just respond to every discussion as much as possible? or respond to those discussions that are has the highest number of responses? or just things like those...
i must admit that there are also times, when i would choose which discussion to respond to. like sometimes i get too lazy and tired, and i try to respond to a discussion (and the main purpose when i get too lazy is just too earn, to add some cents to my earnings hehehe but at least.. right? ), i open a discussion and see a very very long long discussion, sometimes i hit back or go back because it's like i don't really have that much time to read and when i am tired it's like my brain's not working like even though i read it twice, i still won't get the thought and then i would just find some short discussions and then respond to them.
have you guys experienced this too?

I respond to those discussions which appeal to me and to those with whom I can relate to. I cannot respond to each and every discussion of my all friends because they start discussions on different 'interests' and I do not have the expertise to post my response on unknown subjects.

I do not respond to any discussion, for the sake of earning. I just enjoy sharing my views.

Yeah, i respond to those i can relate and to some i think i can suggest something or help. we can't just keep on responding to those we don't even know about just for the sake of earning something. it is always so nice helping others and reading about their experiences and also learn from them

Hi Cherish, Normally when I log on to mylot I tackle the responses that I get for my discussions, and then I go on to the list of discussions started by my friends, then my interest group and so on...But I dont stick to a pattern, like when I respond to a discussion I also go through the other d similar discussions that are displayed on the right hand side and if I find them interesting I respond to that.I may find some more in a similar way when I am responding to that discussion as well, so there is no end to how you can choose a discussion, but mostly something that interests me and makes me want to respond and not just post for earning a few cents, after being on the site for a while you go past that stage I guess!

First thing that attracts me to a discussion is the topic. Usually i would respond to topics i can really relate with.
But it is true though that sometimes when i open a very long topic, i would sometimes skip it and choose another one, specially if it's long but it seems just beating around the bush.
I like topics that are brief yet very clearly stated. My mind is already forming what to say, even if i haven't finished reading it yet, which means that the topic is interesting to me.

yeah i like it that way too. even though it's just short but has a lot of thought in it and understandable. but i know sometimes we also get carried away and so we end up pouring ourselves out and end up writing a very long discussion or even just a response hehe

Actually, discussions need not be lengthy. It just have to be brief and concise but clear in what it is really trying to point out.
And yes it is true , responses though could sometimes be lengthy because as you said , we get carried away by it.

Personally for me most of the time, it does not matter the length of the discussion. As long as it is something I am interested in, I will find myself responding back to it. Even with my friends in here the same thing, or interest catagories as well. I never have been one to try to respond back to everything or everyone unless the discussions seem to interest me as well.

yeah, sometimes when the title of the discussion is catchy, i end up reading them too no matter how long it is. some discussions are always long because they base it on their experiences and of course it is long hehehehe just like when i write discussions or responses. thanks for responding KrauseHome

hi cherish I am never lazy and I respond to the discussions that interest me regardless of length, in fact I most often bypass one liners as a lot of them are rule breakers made by people who refuse to read the rules of discussion. I do not respond however if I can not add something intelligent to the discussion. I know nothing about soccer and field hockey and foot ball so I bypass as I do religion and politics. a lot of short discussions do not make much and a lot of them get deleted as some people here think if they make fifty short discussions about nothing really they will make a ton of money on responses. not true. the person who posts the responses is the one who gets paid. if you comment back with a real comment, not thanks, but saying how you felt about the response then you get paid. post something you earn, I post to your discussion I earn simple really just like in your job, you get paid for the work you do, you do not get paid for the work your friend does.I do not count responses as thats really mean to respond only to the popular ones. no I owe it to my mylot friends to respond to them first and unless the discussion is about something I have no knowledge of I try to do as many of my friends as I can.

hi Hatley,
i'd like to thank you because i have just learned something again from you. you are right, we can't earn no matter how many discussions we right, but how many responses we make, because yeah we don't get paid for the work our friends do.
yeah i get a lot of email notifications saying my responses have been deleted because he question it was under was deleted, and that's because maybe it is too short or too common or something like that. and so i feel bad because i always try my best to respond to those discussions, but they only get deleted
but well, we also learn from other people, as well as our friends here on mylot and of course from our experiences. now i will try to avoid those one liner and too common discussion.
thanks Hatley

In choosing a discussion that I would have responded, I usually respond to a discussion that is sent to my email, but not all I would respond. I chose the discussion, which I was able to respond. If email notification is up, I chose a discussion of interest which I have chosen.

I mainly choose the discussion from my interested. If it's something you interested in it doesn't matter how long the content is, right? I'll just read through it and if I feel like I have something to say, I'll comment. If not, I'll just quit it.
When I first joining myLot I admit I want to earn money, so I tried respond to as many as possible. That time I also tried to come to myLot and comments some on short discussion. But I found myself getting exhausted "trying to earn". So I just change my habit on myLot.
So now I only respond if I feel like it. For days that I'm too lazy I'll just skip that day, not earning any cents is fine for me. And I think it's better this way. :)

Hi there Cherish14!!!
There are times when I only respond to discussions that are short so I can easily read it.But when I feel that I am in the mood to respond to long discussions or posts,I do my best and spend time in reading and understanding the posts even if its very long.
I know sometimes that reading a very long posts is tiring and sometimes we don't read the whole posts anymore and just do shortcuts. And there were also times when we never respond at all in long posts.Mylotting can really be tiring sometimes but if we really want to succeed we need to be more patient and hardworking.

i'm quite like you hehehe.
yeah i know, we can only make money if we work had and are more patient, just like here on mylot and when our mood strikes and we see very long discussions, it sometimes eats up some of our patience hehehehhehe

I don't have a special method of deciding about the discussions to which I will respond;I usually look at the titles and I choose those who seem more interesting to me,and of course there are certain fields of activity or hobbies related to these activities that are important in my choice. The length of the inItial discussion s also important to me;if it is too long I usually leave it,unless the topic appears to be very interesting.I like challenging discussions, but I don't really feel like reading short stories,I have the library for that. And,of course, the state in which I am also counts,if I feel tired or in a grat mood to discuss, that also affects my choices.

Yes I have experienced that too. A lot of people just want to make money online, so what happens is you'll see someone just commenting on all of the "today's top" section. This way they're likely to get + rated and/or publicly viewed.

I select discussion that is interesting to me, relates to me and easy to respond. I cannot sit long hours before computer, hence select a few that are easy to respond.

i had never respond to a discussion that does not interest me. it takes away the fun. of course, the more you participate, the more you earn, but as always we have to be honest with ourselves. if you do not understand what a particular mylotter is trying to drive at, how could it be possible for you to respond and participate?
@Cherish14 (2693)

21 Apr 11
you are exactly correct
yeah that's why when it's too long and when my brain's not working, i don't get the thought of it and so i would just skip it and because i know i won't be able to reply to it because i don't understand.
the shorter and brief the discussion is, the more we get it and understand it, the faster we reply, the faster and more we earn hehehe

It depends really on the topic itself. A great topic with long or short can immediately grasps my interest. I find that if I am logged in for way too long that perhaps a topic when too long does not grab my attention. If I find the topic being really long and I am too tired I may go back to it next time I first log in.

yup, even if it's short or long, but doesn't catch our attention or doesn't interest us, it's like i can't really focus on it and not know what to say.

Well i usually respond to discussions which i like and i love to give good responses if i have a sincere interest in the discussion. Right now i am interested in yours and hence that's why i am responding. Yup i know what you mean. There are millions of discussions going around everyday and i get lazy and i don't even bother to type and just give some random response.
Well even long discussions scare me. I would want just 3 paragraphs with maybe around 7 lines in each and not more than that if you would ask me. I would not even look at long ones. Just skip all that but if topic is eye catching then i give some random reply because i don't really bother to see the matter in the discussion.
I better stop else you won't ready anymore!
Cheers!

hello cherish,
Most of the time i responded on the topic under my interests, if my friend started a topic and i can't even respond to it i tell them why because i can't relate i don't want to be trying hard and talk non sense over their topic.
But i try my best to response
