Overeaters Anonymous really helped me

I haven't posted anything on myLot in a long time, but I thought I should share this with anyone who is struggling to lose weight. About three years ago, I had reached a top weight of 342 pounds. I managed to get down to 325 last year, but my weight stayed in the 325-330 range for a while. I had basically given up on dieting and resigned myself to being morbidly obese for the rest of my life. My therapist told me about how Overeaters Anonymous helps people with compulsive eating habits (eating when stressed, distracted, already full, etc.) The OA group I joined gave me lots of advice and support to help me on my weight loss journey. So far, I've lost almost 60 pounds. I haven't completely given up junk food, but I'm eating a lot less of it now. OA is modeled after the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. It does not endorse a specific diet plan since different methods work for different people. In addition to compulsive eating, OA also helps people who are anorexic or bulimic. OA has chapters worldwide. Anyone interested in giving OA a try can find the nearest chapter either in the phone book or at the oa.org web site.
