Turn Your Home into a Billboard

Now I know in years long gone many pubs would have their fav beer they sold in a mural on the side of the building advertising the beer and the building as being a bar. So I saw on a freebie site that there is a company that will paint your home with an advertisement on it and in exchange will pay you up to $1000k a month to do so for up to a year. Sounds like a neat idea if you can get the blessing of your neighbors and city. So many of us are just getting by and what's the biggest people most of us pay? Our mortgage!!!
Would you do something like this? I think if I could get everyone's blessing I would. I'd love to pocket my mortgage payment for a year. Though I don't think I'd get many people viewing my house as we are on a dead end road, probably more ideal for someone off a main or well traveled road.

I cannot feature this on my house, but I could on others. Mine does not have any big sides that are not chopped up with windows and such. In the past they did this with barns. I would do it, though, if I could. It is like the ones where you can get your car "wrapped" and have a rolling bill board. Might be nice to earn passively.

Often there are Bible verses or moral sayings as well. I can actually think of one about 2 1/2 hours from here.

I couldn't tell you where one is I know I've seen one in years past driving up north on the back country roads.

I hear this quite often and do see where many go for it. I would also consider it if I had my home again. Funny you mention too, I was reading a blog the other day where people were given 20% lifetime discounts at the this one favorite name brand store if they tattoo the company logo. Many are doing do so. Although a tattoo I don't feel I can do, but your idea of the house absolutely because after the year we can change it.
So I would do it of course with the approval of my community.

Yeah I don't think I could do a tattoo either. Besides the fact it's perminant but what if it's required to be a certain size ect? Not worth no 20% off... unless it's a gas station or grocery store with prices rising and all. ;0)

Well, I live in a Cul De Sac, and not sure this would even be a viable option even if we needed the help. But for someone to pay a person's mortgage like this that is a Great idea. I wonder how many people they ever really choose to help, and what the satisfaction rate would be. Would be nice though to know someone is going to repaint your house back when they're thru or you cancel your contract with them.

I know it's a great concept but the fine details and what your community will allow are quite another.

I would do that in a heartbeat if I hadn't put vinyl siding on my house a few years ago!! Heck, that would pay for the siding! I wish I'd have known about this when I first bought my house.
I'm thinking that it might violate some zoning codes, though.

That's the big problem the zoning of course. My siding is junk so no worries to if they did it to mine I'd just save the money to get new siding instead of them repainting it back to "normal"

I don't think that would work for apartment dwellers either. I think it would be interesting to be able to do that though. I have heard of places doing that for cars as well. It does seem to be a good way to make money!

I would guess that $1000 is only for those who do live in high traffic areas, they might not consider your home even economic to rePAINT!
Sounds interesting, but, like you, I happily don't live in a high traffic area, so I doubt anyone would want to advertize on my house...
