I travel a lot. In fact I just got back from the Caribbean. I've been there many times before but needed a break from the ho-hum of daily life.
I surprised my wife by booking a cruise to Alaska and I am so excited to go. That is one place I have not been and am really looking forward to it.

There are two things about travel. #1 Passports. It's not hard but it's time-consuming and you need to just get it done. I think that like a Social Security # everyone should have a passport.
The second thing is just doing it. And honestly it's not that hard. A person in the US usually gets two days off a week. If talking to the boss in advance you get the two from Week 1 and the two from Week 2 pushed together that is 4 days (enough for a short cruise to Bahamas) and you don't even need to take ANY vacation time.
It's honestly just a desire to do it and when you do do it you'll love it.
Thanks

Hi Zelo. It is excellent that your wife has booked a cruise to Alaska. The scenery up there is going to be awesome and I think it is a really cool destination to visit. It is quite a surprise for you since you have just go back home after a trip to the Caribbean. I have been to Finland and there I met a girl that came from Alaska. She showed me some photos of beautiful Alaska and it looked really picturesque. I hope that you will have a fantastic time.

We usually do 2 - 4 vacations a year and we actually did one in October, and then this one in April and then Alaska is September and then we are going somewhere in December so we are on track as far as vacations are concerned.
Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Denmark, etc... are places I really want to see as well. I am sure I will have the chance someday.
Thanks

Wow, how nice it is! Alaska is an amazing place to me because it is a world with ice. It is pure and beautiful. I like the natrual views. It must be an interesting trip. I wish you a good trip and look forward to hearing about your trip when you are back.

...Hi there zeloguy. This sounds very exciting and should be such a fun trip. I love cruises, but have not been on one in such a long time. It's fun all day and all night on the ship. Alaska from pictures that I have seen on television is a beautiful place to travel on a cruise. So I hope that you and your wife have a really good time as you sail. Take care.

....Hi again, the first cruise I took was on a smaller ship to Bermuda. I was still so impresssed with the whole experience. Each time I would take a trip on one, I hated to get off the ship, it was like fantasy land.
I would love to take a trip on a huge ship. You probably can't even tell you are on the water most of the time. Once I had the wrong time for my flight to Florida to board and got down there just as my ship was leaving. I met them in another port. I was not going to go back home. Once I was on the ship it was great. Take it easy.

I have heard wonderful things about the Alaska cruises. The people I know who have taken them have not been disappointed. I hope you have a wonderful time as you do all your traveling.

I am sure that yu will enjoy your cruise to Alaska. My in-laws just took one there about two years ago and they were very excited by it. They had the best time! I live in alaska for about twelve years during my high school days. It was an adventure to live there as you will find out on your visit there! Enjoy!

My brother did the same thing. Met his wife there if I remember correctly. Lived in Alieska. He was a snowboarder and said one of the great things about Alaska was the mountains were so high and then went right down to sea level (whereas in Colorado the base height is ~6000-8000 feet).
I hope to really enjoy the visit!

Sounds like an ideal holiday destination. With money so short, I guess there isn't much you CAN buy in Alaska. That's really a joke, of course, because Alaska is a US state and has all the junk that you get anywhere else. It's getting just TOO difficult to get away from it all!

I've heard it's great out there. My dad went on a fishing trip and had the time of his life. If I could offer a suggestion though....check out the amount of earthquakes that they are having there recently....kind of scary IMO. But, I hope you have a great time and I'm sure things will be fine....

It sounds as you are taking chances to see many places around the world. How wonderful to experience and learn about new cultures and traditions while discovering new places, meet new people. You are doing the right thing. Have a most excellent time in Alaska.

I am jealous as I have been wanting to go to Alaska for awhile now. One of my new favorite shows is Alaska State Troopers. You and your wife should watch it before you go because it will make you more excited. If yall have time, you should go visit canada as well as it is very beautiful also. Enjoy your trip!
