hello fellow mylotters!
please list down your favorite movie endings. i really think that a good ending can make a movie and a bad one can break it. when the movie credits are rolling and the ending just gave you a 'wow' feeling, it takes that particular movie experience to a higher level.
looking to add more to the list as this discussion goes on but here are some that i have on top of my head:
1) seven - that movie by brad pitt. what he found inside the box was brutal... just brutal. jealousy can be such a b!tch.
2)sixth sense - enough said.
3) the usual suspects - kaiser soza for the win!!!
4)the village - one of my favorite m. night shylaman's (what ever his name is???) movies!!! the ending is just downright jaw-dropping. i really think this is one movie that m. night/horror/suspense thriller fans slept on. i think i'm in the minority of liking this movie.
come on my fellow mylotters, share your thoughts on this one. cheers!!!

Boooo!!!! Ahahaha. Boooo Mist!
I like the end of The Village too, it's a shocker. Se7en is good. I don't like Sixth Sense, ghosts are too scary for me!

Ignore Zone above...he's crazy...AHAHA!
I agree that the end of Se7en is one of the best...I don't really like that movie, but I like watching the ending lol. I like it from the scene when the killer walks into the police station yelling "Detective!" until the end.
I also like the ending of Joy Ride (I like both the original ending and the alternate ending). They're different, but both contain the same important aspects (the suspense, "the police/hotel scene," the thrills).
Marley and Me....the ending makes me cry everytime I watch it. Some of my friends (who are also animal lovers) refuse to watch Marley and Me because it's too upsetting. But for me, it's comforting. Two of my dogs have had to be put down due to health...and it's not easy. Reading and watching Marley and Me helps me cope.
I could probably come up with a ton more, but I'd have to think about it for a while.

Everybody cries at Marley and Me...after i read the book I got the audio CD and listened to it in my car...I remember specifically I was driving home from work when it got to the end and I was sitting in my driveway bawling! When I finally got in the house I was still tearful and my mom was like, "what's wrong?" And all I said was, "my audio book just ended." Ahaha. She was like...okay...
and then of course I saw the movie in theaters and cried (I was so surprised my sister went to it with me).
Whoa!....there was a lot of empty space under your text lol. A lot of white

The empty space, twas not me I thought it was you lol. It is weird when mylot does that but give me a minute and I am sure I can fill in all the blanks

There are a lot of great movies out there and there are only several that has good twisted endings. Like you, I also like the ending of Sixth Sense, and Seven & The Usual Suspects (Kevin Spacey FTW! ) I also like the ending of the movie 'Identity' starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet. I've heard that the ending of Fight Club is good too. I haven't seen the film yet but I'm really curious about it.

yeah, identity was one of those movies that had a twisted ending. that one caught me off-guard and i was pleasantly surprised at the ending. all through-out the movie, they were dropping subtle clues about it. they all had the same birthday and all their names were places.
the usual suspects was good as well. kaizer soza for the win like i said!!! you can doubt the existence of the devil but believe in the existence of kaizer soza!

Yeah! Sixth Sense! I saw this at the cinema one night while I was travelling in the USA and was blown away by the ending of it as I never saw it coming. It was obvious, but I totally missed it!
How about Fight Club! That was another great Brad Pitt movie where the twist at the end blew me away. Same with Leonardo DeCaprio in Shutter Island. Have you seen that one?

nice list you got there.
'a walk to remember' sticks out though. i won't argue with its inclusion, like i said, to each his own. haven't watched 'shutter island' yet but read good reviews about it. i'll try to watch it this weekend and post my thoughts in this thread.
again, its not surprising to see 'the usual suspects' mentioned multiple times in this thread as it is a great movie. for the record, the actual name of 'the' character is 'keyser soze'.
keyser soze ftw!!!

I loved the ending that 'The pursuit of happyness' had , it gave hope and gave out the message that hard work does eventually bear fruit , i personally cant bear tragic endings

watched 'the pursuit of happyness' but those sad tear-jerking scenes were too much for me. i know that everything went well at the end of the movie but i want my movies to either entertain me or keep me amused. if i wanted to cry, i'll just look at my sorry-a$$ed life and serve myself a plateful of self-pity. lol!
to each his own i guess...
thanks for participating reshmaraokris!
cheers!!!

The ting is for me a good ending does not necessarily have to have a twist to it. The four you chose happen to show that the twist is what gives character to these movies. The Usual suspects is a case in point, it is a fairly simple story of a group of misfits that are forced to work together by a powerful entity, seen it hundreds of times before, the ending though is what makes the movie stand out.
I enjoyed Memento, since part of what we have been shown to be true is not, what really happened has been twisted to show by the one character that has seemed to show integrity, proves the motto not everything that is written is true.
The Devil’s Advocate, is another movie with the never ending motif, Kevin meets someone who seems to bring all that he desires, a partnership in prestigious firm and everything that comes with it - power and wealth, but the price is high and the one who seems to pay is Mary Ann. The ending shows that the whole experience was a possible outcome, he returns to the point in time moments before he meets the John Milton and makes the choice to take a different path. John Milton will try again.
No Way Out, is another of those hidden in plain sight twist endings, the fact that the spy is investigating himself makes the story all the more fascinating to watch, this movie has like the Usual suspects the advantage of requiring at least a second viewing to find out how on earth I missed the clues on who Tom Farrell was really protecting.

For me the ending to Hitchcock’s “The Birds” is impressive although first time I watched I thought what the heck. But the ambiguity of Rod Taylor and Tippi Hedren driving off into the distance, leaving behind the home covered in birds is spectacular and leaves you to make up your own ending.

I never really enjoyed watching horror and suspense movies.I always go for romance and stories of survivals.
My all time favorite is Notebook and i just love the twist of the story in the ending.I cannot forget the ending part of Dirty Dancing...the dance number is unforgettable. Also the last dance scene of Jennifer Beal's at Flashdance.
I still get so amused remembering the ending scenes of Sister Act..it is so hilarious.

I love the ending of sixth sense, as you mentioned in your discussion description. I also love the ending to Lord of the Rings, Band of Brothers, Final Fantasy 7: Advent children, A walk to remember and lots more! These are just the few memorable movie endings I have in my mind. There are still a lot, but I forgot the titles of those movies. Happy Mylotting!

The ending of the movie wanted was awesome. Morgan Freeman found himself shot by James Mccavoy. The ending of the Tourist was also great. Johnny Depp revealing he was Alexander Pierce although it was obvious but at least, it was worthy of an ending.
