This was bad, really bad here and I think you should be proud for sitting in the hallway :) at least you were out of ear shot!
I think the worst I've ever seen was in MT. I had firy ashes falling on my car and around my house... I tried to hang out clothes on the line and couldn't see the line or the clothes pins for the smoke.
We had threats , twice for being evacuated but we never did have to go.
It was terrible just four miles down where behind our frind;s house was burning embers from the fires. They stayed in their home and watched it !
Not me.
I'd have been out of there...but for now, we have a little rain today and thank God for that.
hugssssssssssssssssss

OMG yes! I have a horrible fear of fire, wind, lightening and thunder! I've been through five fires in my life and hope to God there's no more. Three house fires, one truck fire and one camper fire. The wind scares me because when I was smaller, like fourty/fifty pounds lighter, a gust of wind came out of nowhere and hit me and knocked me right on my behind! lol But it could've hurt me in a bad way but luckily I caught myself before I landed so I wouldn't hit my head.

This wind we had must have been the worst we've ever had except for tornadoes.
Fires were all around us and many houses burned out and lots of people hurt.
The fear is not yet over. WE are still in a drought and thank the LOrd, today we have rain, blessed rain !
We all have our fears and fire is one of the worst.
Take care and watch for the winds
God Bless you,
qutia

Hello quita88. I live in Pennsylvania and the wind has just been horrific today. Luckily we do not often have fires, and we are in our rainy season But the wind has just been awful. I do have a fear of the wind at times because my house is surrounded almost by trees. So I always fear that one of the trees are going to fall on my house and crush me. It makes me even more nervous because we have had a few days of nothing but rain so the ground is very wet and the mixture of the wind with wet ground makes for trees to uproot. I have heard briefly about the storms that have been ravaging the areas down there and it is just horrible weather. I hope that you stay safe, and that the weather improves for you.

HI, I tried to answer this earlier but Mylot said no, so here I am now.
It's good you don't often have the same situations we do here now. We are kinda used to wind but not this bad and the fires from Texas thru Oklahoma are awful.
We live a long ways from the Texas Border but last night the smoke from those fires was terrible. I could barely see my next door neighbor.
Last winter we had a big pecan tree to uproot when had that bad ice storm. I still have a big hole in the ground where that tree fell over and hit my house! My son got it off the roof with some help but it was bad here then too.
I am safe and thanks for asking. We are on the look out for fires all the time. WE live very close to a lake and it is getting very dry.
Thanks for your response!! I hope all is good for you.

hiQuita I also have great fear of fire and wind having b een a mile away from one of the most deadly wild fires we had in the 'tustine area. it destroyed hundreds of acres and the wind was horrioble. we had to close all the windows and u se air conditioing as the air was full of ashes
and if you breathed that in you got bronchitis this was the year my son lost his job, we ran out of money , were evicted and thus I came here to stay in tiresome Gold Crest while he is paired up with other men all out of work in hope haven, gov. sponsored housing for men. we were so sure he soon would get a full time job boy were we wrong he has a part time job now but not making enough to get us into an apartment of our own. I wish I hope that soon it has to change I just cannot give up hope. lol. I heard about those fires and the winds in Oklahoma and thought about you hoping you were okay.fires are so scary. That year I was talking about we saw singed deer running down the middle of Newport Ave the busiest street in Tustin. they were so scared and panicked.the wildlife people had to get trucks and load those poor deer into them and take them to the Ange;es national forest where there was no fire. poor poor deer. they were so scared, I would say if they were people I would say they were hysterical. loll.

OMG, those poor deer! We always worry about us humans, but we don't often think about the wildlife and let's pray these deer are ok and have gone on about their lives.
As for us and the winds and fires, we have been blessed with no more high winds for the last two days and just this morning we woke up to RAIN, REAL RAIN !!
That doesn't mean the threats are over but it does give us hope!
God bless,
