So i am thinking of selling Avon to make a little extra cash. Has anyone sold it and how have you done? Is it easy? Is it worth it? Will it be a waste of my time or can I actually make some money. I am not looking for much maybe $300 a month. Just enough to pay for dance classes and dinners on the nights of. Maybe a little extra to put away for vacations later. My sister in law says she does good but then she is always broke. I do not know if this is because she cannot budget her money or she is feeding me lines to get me to sign up to sell becasue she will get kick back. I guess it could be both really...anyway. If any one has anything they can add to this or if they buy let me know how often please.

hey there, I sell Mary Kay. Mostly so I can get all my makeup for the discounted price. Now that my girls are in their teenage years, I am saving alot of money. I do make some dough, I have about a dozen clients that religiously purchase from me and I am glad. It works out very well as long as you keep a separate bank account and seperate financials. Then I take 1/2 my income from the purchases and purchase more inventory. See if you can get 3 or 4 people to base your business to start with and then you know it won't be all in vain. Only replenish your inventory with the products that most your customers buy. Send out flyers and special deals on special occasions like mother's day and administrative assistants day etc. I could go on all day. Please let me know if there is any advise I could give you.

Thanks for the advice. I am planning on selling what I can to friends and family, around dance class etc. I also plan to put out items and catalogs to take orders while I am working crafts shows (the ones that I can put non hand made items out at) as well as word of mouth. Some of the terms used here have not been stated to me in any way shape or form. Territories and party plans? I am also going to send fliers to the local school PTOs and other organizations about fundraisers. Have either of you done those and are they worth it?

Hi there. I d'ont sell or work with avon, but my sister do that and i can say she make good money per month normaly $500. She has learn the way of sell so easely just because avon has good presentation, good suport and a lot information. My sister has started selling with her friends and then throught the family, after that she has make publicitie around the supermarkets and other stores with papers. She put a lot of her time in that, so i presume you need to work a litle hard on that new project. If it work's with her take your shot and d'ont be afraid!Go on.

I have been doing avon but the percentage of what you get is so low. Why don't you try "Mary Kay". you have 45% already for you and you can have a lot of gifts if you work very hard on it. Many people succeed because the purpose of it is to help you. Aside from that if you have recruits that are very active you can gain commission from them without lessening their 45% so if do the sale you get 45% and if they do the sale they their 45% and you have your commission from them Aside from that if you have 8 active recruits you can be a sales director.well as fresh business woman like you will be called beauty consultant. Mary Kay products is a good product and they are very effective so you can sell them easily. So when you join the Mary Kay corporation, you will be given a kit for your demonstration and everything. Product guide, beauty tips and etc. the registration i think is about 45$ and when you are already registered you will be undergo seminar well here is a tip some seminars they will give you some gift product of mary kay. So when your gift is one of the product of mary kay you can sell that and wow you got a cash. if you are interested you are free to ask me more. i am willing to explain it to you

I am doing Avon because when I asked around I had several actually about 8 people not only willing to order but have been on me about when I am starting so they can order ( I am waiting on my kit from them now). I also chose Avon over Mary Kay because I can wear it. Mary Kay gave me a very bad reaction (I ended up in hospital) that became infected. I know many love it but I prefer to sell something I can wear and stand behind.

I've had a couple of friends that started here that have moved off to sell Avon. I really don't buy Avon, because I don't wear make up and find most of the other stuff over priced. But it is up to you. The only 2 people I ever knew to sell Avon quit when they ended up having to pay from some stuff that Avon said they delivered and they never received.

I haven't tried Avon but my mom and sister used to sell Avon products in our neighborhood before. They sell the products on installment basis (one month to pay); eventually they stopped because they had trouble collecting payments from some of their buyers. What's good about Avon is that, you'll have 20% mark-up on each products. That's not bad at all. If I only have the capital, I'll invest becoming the distributor rather than the dealer. I'll use Leverage-- wherein I can gain money from people working under me (who are the dealers).

I think I will do money up front or at delivery I don't want the problem of chasing down people to pay.

Yeah you're right. And the potential earnings you'll get is better than with Avon dealers. Entrepreneurs get richer because of the practice of this "leverage" that can also be applied by being the distributor of Avon.

Hi OpinionatedLady, I sell AVON. I've been selling it for a few months. I don't make much at all each month but then again, I don't really put a lot into it. I have a couple of customers and haven't really pushed it much. Now my friend makes a pretty decent amount selling it. She has a lot more customers than I have and gets more orders. If you know a lot of people interested in buying then you could make some decent money I think.

So far, I've only hit the 50.00 once. One month, I got no orders so didn't even order books. My friend usually gets at least 100.00 in orders but she has a ton more customers. It actually ends up costing me about 10.00 by the time I order books and pay shipping. I don't want to discourage you. If you get the right customers, I think you'd do well. It's worth a shot. If you don't like it or don't get anywhere with it then you could always just stop it.

I have never sold Avon, but I do know several people who did, for awhile. It was exciting for them in the beginning, but they soon got tired of running around delivering the goods. I personally have never tried it because I don't like trying to persuade people to buy products. If I could sell it without leaving my home, like a drop ship product, that would be fantastic. I wish you well, if you do decide to go for it.

Although Avon is not the best cosmetics brand, but it has a competitive price and therefore somewhat it is still popular for some people. If you plan to sell it as your part-time job, I think it's fine. If you can try to sell it to your friends or their friends. It will be a good cycle. You can offer them catalogs with nice price and I am sure they will be interested in it. Girls are always crazy about the cosmetics:) I love China

All you can do it give it a try. I used to sell YEARS ago and didn't do well. But that was just me. I wasn't to much a "people person" back then! But I don't like buying what I can't see and I don't like paying for what I have to wait to get! My daughter is thinking of trying it to for extra income, but confessed, \she might spend all she makes in that same campaign right out of the book! Good luck if you try it!

I will tell you right away I have a love/hate relationship with Avon. Like some of their products but......there's a story here. I used to get my foundation from the mother of a dear friend. I quit waring make-up for several years. And then I had reason to want to look especially nice and I went to Avon and picked out all the make-up for me to use, paid for it and then found online a rep nearby and emailed her that I needed this stuff by a certain date. I never heard from her! So I found one that actually had a phone number and called her. By this time I knew I wasn't going to get the product but the date I needed it so I just wanted a reimbursement of the money I had paid. Then two Summers ago I tried to become beatimous again with the gym, trainer, make-up, clothes-- all of it! I was staying with my then friend and her daughter was selling it. She showed me several different shades. They had changed the product and don't even have my shade anymore. They used to have a little tester and you would find the correct shade with it. They don't even have it anymore. She didn't even know what I was talking about! So I don't buy from Avon anymore!

What stupid lady. I mean what is the point of selling if you don't do it to make the money. I know a lot of changes have happened with the company and hope I do well.

My mother and my sisters are Avon dealers. They are not making big money out of it, but they are enjoying what they do, sharing the Avon brochures to friends and acquaintances and taking in orders. I think, that's how effective Avon selling is, if you are a shy type of person, just let the colorful brochures do the selling for you. Just hand the brochures to your prospective customers, if they like what they see, they will gladly give you a product order. You don't have to be a good salesman or lecturer. Just take the orders, and deliver. That's how easy it is, according to my observation with my mom and my sisters.

I haven't tried sellinig Avon, but my mother has and to be honest she said it wasn't easy. Asking for sales isn't the hardest part, actually getting the money for the orders is. So If someone ordered something, and doesn't pay, It could possible that it could come out of your pocket. This is to my understanding. I don't think its the easiest way to make money, but what is? But good luck if you do want to go foward in Avon!

I am going to see if it is OK to ask for money up front. I would like to have it before I order so as not to have to hound people down for the money. If I can't I will not give item without payment this way I can at least sell it else where if they do not pay.

hi there, i sell Avon products but i am not as active right now as when i was in college. i am now very bus with my review for my board exams. it is not hard, it is a very good business. when i was in college, i would sell Avon products to my classmates and friends, i didn't have much allowance that time but selling helped me. i could buy some stuffs i needed and i would have some extras for food and savings. every business is a risk but you have to make sure first that the people you are selling the products too are going to pay you because if not, then you will end up paying for the items they got and also you have to budget and also be more practical so you can also save and later on see what and how much you have earned from it good luck

my colleague in the hospital sells avon and everymonth there are a lot of ladies who are excited to see the perks and discounts. They even grab the brochure. Sometimes the brochure gets torn because of the many hands that wants to take a hold of it. She has a pretty modest income from it because a lot of ladies love their products :)

hi opinonatedLady I am here in Gold crest with some ninety others. last year we had an avon lady come here and she really did sell to most of the women but its said she moved and now nobody comes here. Places like this where people cannot always get out all the time are great ways to have a lot of buyers of cosmetics. I heard she did make a goodly anmount of money too. I have never tried it but if you have an outgoing personality'that should be a lucrative job. I used to buy regualrly also we had one come to libray all the time to take orders.try it and I think you will do well. love hugs fromn hatley

I havnt sold Avon myself, but I have 2 cousins that sell it. They seem to be doing very well selling Avon. I know $300 a month isnt hard to do especially if you have that outgoing personality. Most Avon rep's leave their books lying around for people to pick up and order. Thats not really a good way of selling a product, people want to know who they are buying from. One of my cousins like to host a party at least twice a month. Its a good way of getting new clients and keep old ones.
