I couple months ago I had my wallet and phone stolen. I was at a department store doing a baby registry (they took advantage b/c I cant run). I was there with a friend and our two kids. My daughter was standing next to me. My friend and her son was about 20 feet away. After registering for about 5 minutes or so my daughter went to sit in a near by chair, when my friends son had to go to the restroom, after looking around for his mother. I went to get my phone after she wasnt in sight. Looked down at the table and there was no wallet or phone. So after finding my friend we searched and called the phone. Needless to say, no answer. So I was like lets just leave, then department store was no help at all. Didnt even assist, even though they have cameras.... anyways. Got home and my husband called the phone and to our surprise a man answers only to tell us we werent getting the phone nor the wallet. Wow, what is the world coming too?

He even have the nerve to answer the phone and say he's not returning them to you- that was really bad and rude of him to say that.

Personally I would have then immediately called the Cops and placed a report, and then made sure to cancel the Cell Phone if told to do so, and any CCs, etc. as this was not a Good thing for sure. Just you never know now a days what some people are going to do, and it is best to keep everything close to you from people like this for sure.

Sorry to hear that.
That is not very nice at all.
You would think this person would give it back!
Or at least part of it.
Of course this person may need money.
He, could at least give the rest back!
This is why I don't normally have a purse or wallet with me.
But then again, having money in your pocket could fall out too.

That took a lot of nerve (or stupidity) for the guy to answer the phone! I hope you filed a police report because scum who would do something like that should be locked up. Our world is full of bad people and we can't trust our belongings ou of our sight for even a minute. I am even afraid to leave my dog in the car while I run into the store for fear someone will steal her. I believe it will continue to get worse, so we all need to be on our guard at all times.

Hi. aroseclark18. Welcome to myLot! You are so right! This was a very bad man. How in the heck is he going to tell you that you are not getting your own cell phone nor the wallet back? Who the heck does he think that he is??? If I was you, I would use the GPS System to try and track my cell phone. I would also contact the cell phone carrier that you pay your bill to and tell them that you would like to report your cell phone lost and stolen. Tell them that a man stole your cell phone and he won't give it back to you. You should also contact the police and let them know everything. Don't leave any details out! If he wants to steal your cell phone then he will have a phone that has no service on it. It will serve his greedy behind just right! Don't let this creep get away with stealing your cell phone and wallet. It also looks like you will have to cancel out any credit/debit cards that you may have as well too. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. To have someone tell you that you are not going to get back your cell phone and wallet is crazy! Take action and cancel out everything that this thief has of yours!

Hi. Cream97, you are right. This man shouldnt get away with it. I did call and get the phone turned off, but didnt think of tracking it with the gps. Great thinking! I did cancel all my cards which was a headache, but just the thought of him having my address creeps me out. I was telling my husband its time to move. Just another excuse to move. But, hey it worked! Thanks! oh, and thanks for welcoming me to myLot!

You are quite welcome! I welcome you to a site that is very exciting and wonderful! I understand how you may feel. When someone gets a hold of my physical address, this is all grounds for me to move. There is no way that I would be staying at a location that a thief may find and then come over. There is no telling what kind of crook this man is. I am glad that you canceled everything. Good for you! He is not going to get any great benefits using your personal items and never to return them back to you anyway. If he really wants something, then he will have a no service line on your cell phone. Or he will have to go out and put his own minutes and coverage on your cell phone. I hope that this man does not bother you or your family at all. I will send a special prayer to God, to have his angels protect you and your family from any harm and danger. Stay safe and do all that you can to protect your personal belongings as much as possible!

First, I am so sorry that this happened to you. If you were expecting any kind of help from loss prevention or store security, forget it. However, as a former mall security shift manager and assistant director, I will say for you to do this: call your local police department, have them request a copy of the tapes of dvr's that should have been attached to the camera units and then hopefully, they caught the perpetrators on camera.
I am not sure how much money you lost or if this individual used any of your credit cards, so I am not sure how far you want to get justice.
Good luck and hopefully things will work out.
When you ask about what is this world coming too? You have just found out. With the way unemployment has been, there is so much more stealing going on.

Nowadays, people are very greedy. They will not give ppl back when they found something.
My friend had experience this before. When he left Cyber cafe after doing some work, he forgot to bring his mobile phone. He went back to the Cyber cafe again but the staffs saidthey never see his mobile. My friend request them to check CCTV bt the staffs rejected and said that they can't simply check CCTV.
Then my friend told the staff that if they don't want to check CCTV, he will call a police and let the police to request for the CCTV recording.
The staffs then asked my friend to go some where and come back after 15 mins. After 15mins, my friend when back to the Cyber cafe and managed to get back his mobile. He suspect their own staff is the one who took the mobile.

Hello aroseclark18 and a warm welcome to you to myLot.
It is bizarre on how so many things these days are affecting honest and innocent people. There really is no excuse for anyone to be stealing and or harming others no matter how much of a need there is. I rather endlessly beg then steal, cheat and or scam anyone.
We just have to be on alert and very careful in life to make sure that we protect our belongings at all times. I see many advised you to cancel the phone service and or the credit cards and I hope you definitely do so because there is no telling what the intentions are and also ask the credit card company for any suspicious transactions so you can dispute right away. Usually after completing a form you can get the charges credited back providing you reported the theft.
Best of luck and see you around the Lot!

I'm so sorry this happened to you aroseclark18. I can't believe he answered the phone to tell you that you aren't getting it back. That just baffles me. Who does he think he is? He'll get payback one of these days.
