I know most of you work hard...I do too.Everyday when I wake up I have my day's plan so it is supposed to be how I already had planned. So I can't wait to it be 5 pm so I can go home, take my shower, eat something and relax..(usually study)..However sometimes your boss call you and asks you if you can stay a little bit later for some reason..And you?! most of us just say yes..or because is afraid to lose the job or so. For me it is terrible..I could cry hahahha..But I always stay...I feel so bad and sad because I am already so tired.. what about you?how you feel? thanks for share!

I eventually quit the job that had me doing so much overtime. I have had other jobs since then, but right now I am without a job. That is how it turns out.

hi kwylima I have often worked overtime when I was working in the library as I only worked part time so anymor hours was money I had not had before so yes I did it as I loved my job of paging media and loved working in hhe library too. I got tired of course as I was in mylate 70s but still it was money in my pocket and I felt good working instead of sitting atg home retried and almost broke. my job was my lifeline and i always di my best to get it all done. I miss the library and the patrons and the work. but mylotting is now my fun and enjoyment too.

I think nobody likes to work overtime if he or she doesn't have to worry about anything, and so do I.But if the task is tiny or there's an extra earning,I'll be pleased to finish the work so that the boss can save face, too.

Well, where I work it would almost be a miracle when you are asked to work overtime. I work for a company at the present that refuses to give any overtime, and if you have to leave early you never get a chance to ever make it up, as well if you call in and they almost now require a Doctors note just to call in. It is getting rediculous to the point I sometimes hate going in anymore.

i have often been working overtime. i can say that with all the workplace i have been too, there is not one that did not require me to go overtime. =) i guess that meant that it happens and all companies will always have at least once where we are required to work over time.

I only work full time so I don't get overtime. But I'm happy to work extra hours if they ask me to stay and if it's ok w/ my hubby. Hubby is usually way pooped out from his job, so I'm sure he's less than thrilled about working the extra day. However we need him to do so for financial reasons.

How I feel about having to work overtime depends on whether I actually get paid for it or if they plan to give me comp time. I have had jobs that did it both ways. If they actually paid time and a half for the extra hours I looked forward to it since I always needed extra money. In my last job, overtime was optional and I would do it whenever my part time job schedule allowed me to do it. If I had to do something else, I would back out of doing extra hours. I think if I were working now, that I would rather relax than work extra. Thanks for bringing this up!!!

As a design engineer, it is the nature of my job to work overtime while the project is in progress. Of course it is tiring. I would sometimes work till 10pm mondays to fridays and still work during weekends just to meet my deadline. I get to the point of overstressed and overworked. But as I said, that's the nature of my job. What I do is in between projects, I take a vacation. I do this just to recharge. There will be time for retirement when all I do is just relax but right now that I'm still young, I've to work real hard so I could build up my retirement fund. Believe me, you're not alone in that position. Schedule your vacation and tell that to your boss a month before so he knows. It's okay to work hard as long as you have time to recharge. Because if you don't, you'll just always ends up miserable. And if that's the case, then it's time to look for another job.

I personally dont work so I dont know how id feel about over time. but id have to say depends on the person and their work personallity. i know some people that get offered over time and they want nothing to do with it they just wanna work the hours they have to, get it over with and go home. but I also know some people who take as much as they get. even though they may seem like the hate work but they always take the over time that offered. and not that they need to. they just feel that the more they get in the more down time they can have later.

With writing for the internet there is no overtime. You work at your own hours and sometimes write ten or fourteen hours a day. You work until you are satisfied you have done enough; in fact writers who are addicted squeeze out all kinds of family time to complete the job. So decide if this is what you want to do. Go through the interests on the site and see what subject or category appeals to you. You can make at least one or two dollars a day if you put your mind to it. As you become proficient the writing becomes second nature and you can knock out five to ten or fifteen 300 word or 400 word articles a day.

I stay if it's really needed. But i can exit and say my excuse to my boss when i really want to go home. The good thing in our company is,we are not tied to work overtime. But,there are days really that we are given prior notice that we will be having compulsory overtime..it's fine, since it it's compulsory it means higher salary too

Well, lately its everybody's problem, all employees working under a supervisor/ manager face this situation. It feels so terrible when you badly want to go home, have some family talk - spend time with them, and relax for a while enjoying TV or any other entertainment. Its everybody's fantasy, but hardly few get to live like that. But also there is no choice sometimes, you just cant help things, you have to obey the boss - work late, because boss is always right. Whenever you get to stay back and work late just think about the salary/ pay check, you will be eased of your anxiety and annoyance about working late. Until you need money one has no option than to listen to the boss :)

I used to work overtime daily. I have to go to some other town to attend my work. So according to my train schedules, I have to stay there for over time. Taking this as advantage I used to attend the work as normal. I feel nothing abnormal. I feel casual working overtime.
